WATCH: Extinction Rebellion Bash Windows at Murdoch Headquarters over Lack of Heatwave Coverage

"One of the XR eco-warriors, Caspar Hughes said: “We are being betrayed by our press. My son is 15 years old, which means he’s facing possible societal collapse by the time he reaches his thirties. He and I will live and die in a world where famine will be measured in billions, war, disease and extreme weather will be far more commonplace."

metmike: This is all about the UK having a very short lived record heat wave right now, at this moment in July 2022. Which, as usual means taking every weather extreme and convincing people that it was from a  climate crisis and we're headed for disasters in a make believe world ...........that never comes.

The reality:

Heat-related and cold-related deaths in England and Wales from 2000-2019

An example of the relentless(over 3 decades)  wrong, alarmists/extreme  predictions that never come but paint the fake picture for these people...that want to believe in it  to support their fake climate crisis cause.

Here's an example from more than 30 years ago. NONE of these things happened.......instead, the planet greened up.

But that doesn't matter to people that WANT TO BELIEVE. NEED TO BELIEVE!

It's the  EXACT same principle that causes 60-70% of republicans to believe that the election was stolen from Trump..........they NEED TO BELIEVE!

No matter how much authentic science/data/evidence or truth you hit them with......they NEED TO BELIEVE in the opposite false narrative because it's one of the tenets of their belief system!

I reinserted the original title and date from the article below…….. that they removed from the article to make it harder to find and so that people wouldn’t know when it came out.

U.N. Predicts Disaster if Global Warming Not Checked

UNITED NATIONS (AP) _ A senior U.N. environmental official says entire nations could be wiped off the face of the Earth by rising sea levels if the global warming trend is not reversed by the year 2000."

He said governments have a 10-year window of opportunity to solve the greenhouse effect before it goes beyond human control.

As the warming melts polar icecaps, ocean levels will rise by up to three feet, enough to cover the Maldives and other flat island nations, Brown told The Associated Press in an interview on Wednesday.

Coastal regions will be inundated; one-sixth of Bangladesh could be flooded, displacing a fourth of its 90 million people. A fifth of Egypt’s arable land in the Nile Delta would be flooded, cutting off its food supply, according to a joint UNEP and U.S. Environmental Protection Agency study.

″Ecological refugees will become a major concern, and what’s worse is you may find that people can move to drier ground, but the soils and the natural resources may not support life. Africa doesn’t have to worry about land, but would you want to live in the Sahara?″ he said.

UNEP estimates it would cost the United States at least $100 billion to protect its east coast alone.

Shifting climate patterns would bring back 1930s Dust Bowl conditions to Canadian and U.S. wheatlands, while the Soviet Union could reap bumper crops if it adapts its agriculture in time, according to a study by UNEP and the International Institute for Applied Systems Analysis.

Excess carbon dioxide is pouring into the atmosphere because of humanity’s use of fossil fuels and burning of rain forests, the study says. The atmosphere is retaining more heat than it radiates, much like a greenhouse.

The most conservative scientific estimate that the Earth’s temperature will rise 1 to 7 degrees in the next 30 years, said Brown."

The Heatwave Green Hysteria is Out of Control

The unhinged eco-dread over the heatwave exposes how millenarian environmentalism has become.

This is the 850 temperature anomaly map from the NCEP Ensemble mean that I like to use to see large scale blobs of heat/cold and track them globally thru 360 hours.
People familiar with this product, will note that in the Winter, these anomalies are much more impressive but this one over Europe is pretty impressive for the hottest time of year in the Northern Hemisphere, when heat anomaly extremes are tougher to generate because of the increasing negative feedbacks inherent in the system the hotter that it gets.

Cold anomalies in the Winter are also much MORE extreme because they’re experiencing ZERO solar radiation to low angled weak solar radiation in the high latitudes. This maximizes net heat loss for months during that time of year. When cold air pools under that environment…..it’s REALLY cold air.

In the Summer, at the high latitudes you have solar radiation most of the day to offset heat loss to minimize the magnitude of the cold(cool) air pooling.

So let’s actually discuss the impressive positive anomaly feature on this map.
If you live in that region right now, it’s huge but looking at the big picture, it’s isolated/over a small area of the planet and tells us…….

that its clearly not global in nature. Instead, it’s the result of unique, regional weather dynamics that all came together in one spot at one point in time………..and since its the hottest time of year climatologically in the Northern Hemisphere………..wherever this type of thing happens, it will result in record highs, potentially all time highs.

This is part of the very expected weather/climate on the planet.

If not, then do you expect us to never get hotter or colder than the temperatures of the last century+(since records have been kept)?

You would have to assume that extreme temperatures from 1850-2022 should never be broken because that was the most extreme time in the last 10,000 years.

Who really thinks that?  OK, probably almost nobody here.

When is the most likely time to break all time records for extreme heat…..anywhere in the Northern Hemisphere?

Right now.

So unless you actually think no heat records from 1850-2022 should ever be broken(which is silly)  this is normal extreme weather. It’s high end extreme but still normal extreme weather.

If this was happening over a low population area……………it wouldn’t  get that noticed/attention. But it’s over a high population area in the developed world……..so it gets extreme/maximum exposure…….and twisted like a pretzel to mean something much more than the basic meteorology/climate 101 explained above.

Did global warming contribute to this?

Very likely. The average temperature in the UK has been around +1 degree C warmer vs 100 years ago.
So places hitting 40 deg. C today, would likely have been just 39 deg. C a century ago.

One extreme side NEEDS events like  this to feed the fake climate crisis narratives and junk science rhetoric.
However, if we took an authentic poll of all the worlds creatures and biosphere, dialing in the key metric to measure it………greenness of the planet, we see conclusively that most life prefers the slight, mostly beneficial warming and greatly prefers the higher but still not optimal CO2 level.

when you have an area that is warmer than normal,  then there is also an area (or more) that is cooler than normal.   of course all the people concerned about global warming are not talking about this.

Thanks bear!

One thing that the fake climate crisis crowd claims is the we are having more EXTREMES of everything.

Hot, cold, wet, dry, snow and so on.

Not true.

They insist that the warming is dangerous and accelerating.

Not true!

In fact, much of the extreme weather around the globe during the last 3 years has been from the long lived La Nina. This is the 3rd year.

It's likely responsible for the US drought during that time frame and a factor in the heat.

La Nina's are natural and they are cool water anomalies in the eastern and central tropical Pacific. They're the complete opposite of an El Nino(which warms the planet) and they COOL the global temperature. This is a big part of why there has been no global warming for numerous years now.

                Global temps-tropics-coolest June in 22 years-La Nina!

The Version 6.0 global average lower tropospheric temperature (LT) anomaly for June, 2022 was +0.06 deg. C, down (again) from the May, 2022 value of +0.17 deg. C.

Tropical Coolness

The tropical (20N-20S) anomaly for June was -0.36 deg. C, which is the coolest monthly anomaly in over 10 years, the coolest June in 22 years, and the 9th coolest June in the 44 year satellite record.

The linear warming trend since January, 1979 still stands at +0.13 C/decade (+0.11 C/decade over the global-averaged oceans, and +0.18 C/decade over global-averaged land).

Read how this reporter, rationalizes why a 2 day EXTREME heat wave in 2022 is much, MUCH worse than a 2 month long heat wave and drought in 1976 because this particular heat wave was 4 degrees hotter than the hottest day in that stretch that was 20 times longer and not based on a freak weather dynamic(like this)......more of a longer lasting one that had MUCH greater impact in Europe than this heat wave.

Again, global warming likely made this heat wave around 1 deg. C hotter than it would have been and no matter how they want to spin it.......that's the authentic meteorology.

The one and only reason for this one to be worse is because it's 2022 and they need it to be worse to support what they want to believe about the fake climate crisis.

How hot was the summer of 1976?

The peak that year was 35.9C. That has been beaten by the current temperatures, with 40.3C recorded so far.

The heatwave of 1976 started in June and lasted for two months. There was a lack of rainfall and a significant drought, with the government enforcing water rationing.

The heatwave was rare for that decade. The average maximum temperature in July in the 1970s was 18.7C. In the 2010s, it was more than 20C.

metmike: Their mind is so focused on making this the worst in history that they ignore their own evidence that proves that heat wave/drought was MUCH worse. All because it happened BEFORE climate change.

One of the tenets of the climate crisis religion/cult is that all weather is worse NOW then it used to be before the current climate crisis. When evidence pops up all the time to contradict that tenet........they literally are unable to see it. Their brains are conditioned to be unable to see, even the most obvious things that contradict the blatantly fake climate crisis.

I'll show you a small fraction of it below.

Just watched ABC Nightly news spend half their program on this heat and how climate change is making it worse.

Never once did they mention the real cause of it...........the 3 year old La Nina..

That would be COLD water anomalies in the east/central tropical Pacific, which has also caused temporary cooler global temperatures the last few years.

Usually, the best thing to do when this happens is to.............break out the authentic data to bust the twisting of extreme weather facts.

Let’s look at the Record hottest temperatures ever recorded for every state in the United States.
24 of the 50 states had their hottest temperature ever in the 1930’s. Almost as many as all the other decades combined. And those records have NOT been broken/exceeded!

How many states had their hottest temperature ever since 2000, a period more than twice as long as the 1930’s and during the supposedly hottest 2 decades of US history.  Just 6 states.

It’s awesome when the data speaks louder than the bs!

Recent warming in the US has warmed low temperatures much more than high temperatures!

Since this graph above was made, in the last 20 years (since 2000) the following states have made their all time record highs: CO, SD, SC, OR and WA.

Below was the  honest graphic the EPA had up for over a decade on their front page..........then they moved it because they didn't want us to know the truth.

Good thing that I copied and saved it!

Now, they only show heat waves since 1960(we had global cooling from the 40s-70s, so of course it will look hotter today compared to global cooling).

But NOT compared to the 1930's.........by far the hottest decade.

They buried the inconvenient hotter 1930's graphic with a tiny impossible to read  graph that you can't enlarge when you scroll down.

Very dishonest science!

There has been 1 deg. C of warming imposed on the system, most of it in the coldest places(high latitudes)  during the coldest time of year which is NOT Summer.

The sea lvels are still increasing at around 1 inch/decade, slightly more than the rate of 100 years ago but less than the rate during the Medieval, Roman and Minoan Warm periods and much less than the rate of the Holocene Climate Optimum between 9,000 to 5,000 years ago that was 2 deg. WARMER than this in the higher latitudes and when there was LESS Arctic ice then we have now.

Note that the warmest period in the last 10,000 years has always been called a climate OPTIMUM.

Now, weather NOT AS warm, along with only half the optimal level of CO2 in the air for much of life  is called a climate CRISIS.

Doesn't make sense to a thinking person.

"Of 140 sites across the western Arctic, there is clear evidence for conditions that were warmer than now at 120 sites. At 16 sites for which quantitative estimates have been obtained, local temperatures were on average 1.6±0.8 °C higher during the optimum than now."

This wasn't made up...........it's just the authentic science being covered up. They will tell you the warming was just local or regional. No it wasn't here's the authentic scientific data to show it was global warming.

Here are most of the studies(hundreds on the map below), that by a wide margin, show that the Medieval Warm Period was this warm or warmer than this. Most of them done before climate science was hijacked(I'll show you the actually hijack below):

Over 100 studies from the Medieval Warm Period, most of which show the planet was this warm or warmer 1,000 years ago. It was also this warm 2,000 years ago during the Roman Warm Period and also just over 3,000 years ago, during the Minoan Warm period.

Figure Description: The distribution of Level 2 Studies that allow one to determine whether peak Medieval Warm Period temperatures were warmer than (red), equivalent ...

No matter what your opinion is about this.

After reading the authentic evidence from the actual scientific data above, if you're an honest person that is capable of being objective, you must conclude that it was this warm or warmer on a planetary scale 4 different times in the last 10,000 years and the warmest decade in the US, since records have been kept(last 130 years) was easily the 1930's.

There can be no disputing this because its the actual data from many  hundreds of reliable scientists and sources. And  hundreds of studies going back to periods previous to accurate instrumentation measurements.

Why didn't you know about all this?

Hey, don't blame me, I'm the whistle blower squealing on the fraudulent science being used for political agenda.

You should be outraged that they have been stealing your intelligence for their ideological cause that has ZERO to do with the climate.

Sound crazy?

Show me one thing  that I got wrong about anything in this thread.

The main difference between you and me is that I'm an atmospheric scientist armed with most of the authentic data and spent a couple of decades studying, interpreting and sharing it.

So I don't have to believe the climate lies about the fake climate crisis being sold with a fake "save the planet" narrative.

It's really, really good to be an environmentalist because humans must make changes to help the planet..........................but our CO2 emissions have been about the only gift that humans have ever given to the planet(other than measures to conserve natural resources and cut real pollution)

The temp here today got to 95 with a heat index at 110. I kept the AC off all day.

When my wife gets home, I'll turn it on.

This isn't about me but I'm just showing the difference between somebody telling you the truth and politicians jiving you as they use up 50 times more fossil fuels than me and you every year.

Like climate crisis activist Whoopi:

"I do take private planes, I don't want to lie, because I don't wanna be on a plane where I gotta talk to a million people when I have to get where I'm going," she explained. "So there are some things that I am going to be guilty of, because I do not -- contrary to popular belief -- I do not walk on water."

Same thing with Biden, Kerry, Gore, Sanders and most of the others. They use fossil fuels with  no application of the principles that they insist are needed for us to use in order to save the planet.

They live extremely extravagant private life styles with numerous houses and burning many times more fossil fuels than even somebody in their position needs to.

While they tell the rest of this, bs like this:

Bernie Sanders: ‘Major Cities Going Under Water’ in ‘8 or 9 Years’ Due to Climate Change         https://www.cnsnews.com/blog/craig-bannister/bernie-sanders-major-cities-going-under-water-8-or-9-years-due-climate-change

The entire purpose is TO INTENTIONALLY SCARE US. This is  absolutely NOT about science.  The authentic  science is exactly what I'm showing you in this thread. They are using the  made up, scary scenarios because that's what is needed to get people to support their political agenda.....which, according to them.......is the one and only chance, if we are going to save the planet.

Life without petroleum based products: 6,000 products made with petroleum.  Killing Coal. Fossil fuels and fertilizer. Biden praises high gasoline prices.

Charles Payne on the economy and in particular, inflation: Biden's intentional war on fossil fuels energy disaster started by Obama. Why anti environmental and bird/bat killing wind and solar can NEVER come close to replacing fossil fuels. Government forcing anti environmental wind/solar on the market. Stifling new investments in crude and natural gas.

Biden announces executive action on climate after failed effort in Congress

The president detailed his plans Wednesday during a visit to a former coal-fired power plant in Massachusetts.

"I have a responsibility to act with urgency and resolve when our nation faces clear and present danger and that’s what climate change is about," Biden said. "It is literally, not figuratively, a clear and present danger. The health of our citizens in our communities is literally at stake."

metmike: This is the 100% polar opposite of the truth.

If we put the climate into a time machine and dialed it back 100 years so the planet was  1 Deg., C cooler and  had 120 ppm less CO2, similar to circa 1900......the massive losses in food production would like cause 1 billion people to starve to death within 3 years.

The massive benefits from the increase in the beneficial gas, CO2 are clearly proven here:

And here:

50 trillion in agricultural productivity....just from the increasing CO2:

CO2 causes plants to be more water efficient and drought tolerant:

Pick the name of the plant and look at how the (thousands of) studies conducted for ALL plants show how enriching the CO2 cause it to grow much faster/bigger:

Yields of all major food crops continue to rise, and humans are better fed, clothed, and housed against the vagaries of weather than at any time in the past.

Sea levels have NOT been accelerating higher at anything close to a crisis rate. They have been going up at 1 inch/decade for the past 150 years but increasing to slightly more than that recently:

Tide gauges show no increase in the rate of sea-level rise, and the claimed acceleration in satellite-measured sea level is merely an artifact of changing satellites.

Storminess has not gone up, and there’s been no increase in hurricane strength or frequency … no “emergency” there.

Even the IPCC says there’s only one chance in five (“low confidence”) that global droughts are increasing. Nor have the “wet areas been getting wetter and the dry areas getting drier”. No flood or drought emergency.

Violent tornadoes have been cut in half from climate change because the meridional temperature contrast has weakened from the highest latitudes experiencing much of the warming(coldest places).

The highest incidence of violent tornadoes took place in the global cooling years of the 1950s-70's. The spike higher in 2011, was mainly from the La Nina and global cooling affect that year.

Weak tornadoes have increased only because our technology to detect the weak ones that previously were not detected was greatly advanced in the early 1990's from NEXRAD Doppler radars.  This, along with an expanded spotter network coverage area.

There is no mistaking a violent tornado's path.....technology or no technology! And there is no mistaking the big drop in their incidence!

Humans, Not Global Warming, Sparked Almost All Of California’s Wildfires: Study

Wildland fires

"As many as 90 percent of wildland fires in the United States are caused by people, according to the U.S. Department of Interior. Some human-caused fires result from campfires left unattended, the burning of debris, downed power lines, negligently discarded cigarettes and intentional acts of arson. The remaining 10 percent are started by lightning or lava."

Note what happened in the 1930's during the Dust Bowl years in the Plains/Midwest when the drought extended across much of the country for much of the time.......all the way to the West Coast:

NASA Detects Drop in Global Fires

Note Australia in the bottom right. Blue is less burned area.

"Globally, the total acreage burned by fires each year declined by 24 percent between 1998 and 2015, according to a new paper in Science that analyzes NASA’s satellite data, as well as population and socioeconomic information."

Irrefutable NASA data: global fires down by 25 percent

  / 1 day ago September 16, 2020
Using satellite technology, NASA determined that between 2003 and 2019, global fires have dropped by roughly 25 percent. This makes the “climate change is worsening wildfires” argument completely moot.

One of the most interesting things researchers have discovered since MODIS began collecting measurements, noted Randerson, is a decrease in the total number of square kilometers burned each year. Between 2003 and 2019, that number has dropped by roughly 25 percent.

As populations have increased in fire-prone regions of Africa, South America, and Central Asia, grasslands and savannas have become more developed and converted into farmland. As a result, long-standing habits of burning grasslands (to clear shrubs and land for cattle or other reasons) have decreased, explained NASA Goddard Space Flight scientist Niels Andela. And instead of using fire, people increasingly use machines to clear crops.

Rising levels of carbon dioxide increase the rate of photosynthesis and growth in plants."

Satellite data shows the per cent amount that foliage cover has changed around the world from 1982 to 2010.

Increased levels of carbon dioxide (CO2) have helped boost green foliage across the world's arid regions over the past 30 years through a process called CO2 fertilisation, according to CSIRO research.

Since 1988, the Midwest has seen only 1 widespread severe drought(2012) when historically, BEFORE climate change we had 3-4 droughts during a similar time frame.

Best growing conditions there and many other places on the planet in the last 1,000 years. Not in spite of climate change but because of it.

The 1930's featured almost a decade of drought (4 major episodes actually) across that region and it expanded beyond that at times. The map below is from that drought near its worst but it persisted similar to this for most of the decade.

Climate change is comparatively a small problem, and so it’s no wonder many people view climate change as something they don’t worry about. Very much on people’s minds nowadays is the totally fouled up economy that the climate alarmists are in large part responsible for.

Record low flood deaths

Professor Lomborg also analyzed the number of people killed by floods in Europe, Figure 3:

Once again we have technology and fossil fuels to thank for that successful development. But for alarmists, it’s always the fire fighters who are responsible for the fires.

Cold kills far more

When there are heat waves, the climate crazies always seize on the few dozen deaths that occur. But when there are cold waves, they keep silent. And as professor Lomborg shows again, in a chart appearing in Lancet, cold today still kills far more people than heat does:

Central Europe trending wetter

Europe is suffering ever more from drought, the alarmists claim, and soon there will be a planetary emergency. Yet, when we look at the rainfall for Germany going back 140 years, wee see that the long-term trend is the opposite: wetter.

The last decade in Germany has been dry, and this is due to natural cycles. But over the long-term, we see it has gotten wetter since industrialization began.

There are many other metrics showing there’s no crisis we need to worry about. What we indeed need to worry about are the alarmists declaring a permanent state of emergency and taking rights, truths and freedoms away. If that happens, then the planet will surely go to hell in a handbasket really quickly.

metmike: A couple of days of extreme record heat, in 1 location,  for which the increase in CO2 could have been responsible for only 1 Deg. C based on the authentic science...........AND WE'RE ALL GOING TO DIE FROM A CLIMATE CRISIS!
