From NOT A LOT OF PEOPLE KNOW THAT

I covered this story the other day, and inevitably it is making headlines across the media (as it was intended to):

Climate change makes heat waves, storms and droughts worse–Say weather attribution models

All heat engines – which includes weather – are driven by a temperature difference.  Not by absolute temperature.

A car engine, a steam engine, a hurricane, a tornado.  They rely on energy flowing from a hot area to a cold area.  Sort of like a waterwheel needs water flowing from a high point to a low point.

Simply heating the world will not make storms more extreme because global warming is warming the cold places more than it is warming the warm places.  As a result weather will become less extreme.

The Dirty Secrets inside the Black Box Climate Models

https://wattsupwiththat.com/2022/11/10/the-dirty-secrets-inside-the-black-box-climate-models/

By Greg Chapman

“The world has less than a decade to change course to avoid irreversible ecological catastrophe, the UN warned today.” The Guardian Nov 28 2007

“It’s tough to make predictions, especially about the future.” Yogi Berra

Introduction

Global extinction due to global warming has been predicted more times than climate activist, Leo DiCaprio, has traveled by private jet.  But where do these predictions come from? If you thought it was just calculated from the simple, well known relationship between CO2 and solar energy spectrum absorption, you would only expect to see about 0.5o C increase from pre-industrial temperatures as a result of CO2 doubling, due to the logarithmic nature of the relationship.

The purpose of this article is to explain to the non-expert, how climate models work, rather than a focus on the issues underlying the actual climate science, since the models are the primary ‘evidence’ used by those claiming a climate crisis. The first problem, of course, is no model forecast is evidence of anything. It’s just a forecast, so it’s important to understand how the forecasts are made, the assumptions behind them and their reliability.

When initialising a climate model starting 150 years ago, there is almost no data available for most of the land surface, poles and oceans, and nothing above the surface or in the ocean depths. This should be understood to be a major concern.

Figure 3: Global weather stations circa 1885 [3]

In summary:

  • Climate models can’t be validated on initiatialisation due to lack of data and a chaotic initial state.
  •
  • Model resolutions are too low to represent many climate factors.
  •
  • Many of the forcing factors are parameterised as they can’t be calculated by the models.
  •
  • Uncertainties in the parameterisation process mean that there is no unique solution to the history matching.
  •
  • Numerical dispersion beyond the history matching phase results in a large divergence in the models.
  •
  • The IPCC refuses to discard models that don’t match the observed data in the prediction phase – which is almost all of them.

The question now is, do you have the confidence to invest trillions of dollars and reduce standards of living for billions of people, to stop climate model predicted global warming or should we just adapt to the natural changes as we always have?

Greg Chapman  is a former (non-climate) computer modeler.

Whilst climate models are tuned to surface temperatures, they predict a tropospheric hotspot that doesn’t exist. This on its own should invalidate the models.

Last 8 Years Were the Hottest on Record

https://wattsupwiththat.com/2023/01/10/last-8-years-were-the-hottest-on-record/

News Brief by Kip Hansen — 10 January 2023

Yet another lesson in how to write a good-news story as a Climate Crisis story.  One has to hand it to the Climate Crazies – particular in journalism.  In my favorite once-a-world-class newspaper, the New York Times, this story.

metmike: This cooling was from the natural La Nina, of course and now that it's dying fast.......the slight, mostly beneficial  warming to the planet will resume.

metmike: Again, the cooling the past few years was from the natural La Nina. However, it puts the disparity between MUCH too warm models (that only get adjusted WARMER and worse not cooler because they're political tools, not science) that we use to support the fake climate crisis and reality at a more and more absurd level.

Good 2022 Climate News the MSM didn’t tell you

https://wattsupwiththat.com/2023/01/07/2022-seventh-warmest-year-warming-slows-down/

Thirdly, we are not bombarded daily with the good news that global warming is slowing down because the models predict just the opposite, which indicates that despite costing a fortune these models are useless. The 5th Coupled Model Intercomparison Project (CMIP5) was already projecting greater warming for the period 2006-2022 than has been observed. To the dismay of climatologists (Voosen 2022), the changes introduced in the CMIP6 models cause much more warming to be projected, so they have decided that, instead of averaging all models as was done in CMIP5, only the coolest ones should be averaged. Even so, the deviation between models and reality becomes more unbearable with each passing year (Figure 4).

Record Great Barrier Reef Coral Cover – Time to Pull the Climate Crisis Funding?

Reef Builders | The Reef and Saltwater Aquarium Blog

Despite over 3 decades of insisting that we have a major climate crisis killing the planet, while using very busted, too warm global climate models to project extreme, impossible future scenarios, the empirical data/observations of the real world continue to show a climate OPTIMUM and planet greening up with the best weather/climate and beneficial CO2 levels since humans have  existed.

Here's what the empirical data of the real world showed from an extremely reliable source:

Aug 6, 2022

https://reefbuilders.com/2022/08/06/great-barrier-reef-records-highest-hard-coral-cover-in-36-years/

The Australian Institute of Marine Science has reported a 36-year coral coverage high across the Great Barrier Reef for 2021/22. The greatest coverage increases were reported in the North and Central regions of the GBR, which is in direct contrast as they have also been the regions worst affected by coral bleaching via rising sea temperatures in recent years. In the Southern region, monitoring found that coral coverage decreased slightly, but that was due to other pressures affecting coral, like Crown of Thorns starfish outbreaks

++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

Below is what we've been told the past 2 decades about the coral........in fact, this report came out for the exact same time frame when the scientific study above stated the opposite.

Australia's Great Barrier Reef is hit with mass coral bleaching yet again

Back-to-back bleaching events are expected to become more common as the climate gets hotter, but it's happening sooner than expected in Australia – a worrying sign that the vast majority of the world's coral reefs are at risk of disappearing.

"Climate change is a whole host of bad things for corals," says Emily Darling, director of coral reef conservation at the Wildlife Conservation Society. "If they're getting bleached and dying off every year or two years, there's simply not enough time in between these massive bleaching events for coral reefs to have any chance at meaningful recovery."

++++++++++++++++++++++++

Great Barrier Reef has lost half of its corals since 1995

https://www.bbc.com/news/world-australia-54533971

  • Published

14 October 2020

Australia's Great Barrier Reef has lost more than half of its corals since 1995 due to warmer seas driven by climate change, a study has found.

Scientists found all types of corals had suffered a decline across the world's largest reef system.

The steepest falls came after mass bleaching events in 2016 and 2017. More mass bleaching occurred this year.

"There is no time to lose - we must sharply decrease greenhouse gas emissions ASAP," the researchers said.

The study, published in the journal Proceedings of the Royal Society B, was conducted by marine scientists at the ARC Centre of Excellence for Coral Reef Studies in Queensland.

Scientists assessed the health and size of coral colonies across the reef from 1995 to 2017.

They found populations had dropped by more than 50% in all coral sizes and species, but especially in branching and table-shaped corals.

These are the large, structural species which usually provide habitats for fish and other marine life

Coral Reefs May Be Our Last Hope… Let Me Show You Why In Just 90 Seconds

You’re going to be shocked when you see the effect coral reefs actually have on us (hint: it’s                WAY more than trees)

https://www.marketforum.com/forum/reply_post/92206/

For decades we believed that plants, trees, forests, and jungles were responsible for our planet's                oxygen… but we’ve only recently discovered that 70% of the air that we breath actually comes from the ocean...

Coral reefs specifically contribute to more than half of the oxygen our planet relies on, and these are                vanishing at an unprecedented rate.

The ocean is only home to 15% of planet life, but almost all living animals and organisms                    directly depend on the ocean.

You’ve probably already guessed it: when the coral reefs go, so does everything that relies on it… not                just ocean life, but everything else, too.

In just the short time it took you to read that sentence (7 seconds), 27,442 cubic feet of coral reef has died.

++++++++++++++++++

So what's their solution to this manufactured crisis?

So they are manufacturing crisis after crisis after crisis that does not exist about this reality(fossil fuels gifting the planet with massive beneficial CO2 during this period of the best weather/climate for life since humans have existed).

This is the main impact on our planet from increasing CO2 that comes from burning fossil fuels:

"United Nations Predicts Disaster if Global Warming Not Checked

Associated Press – Jun 29, 1989"

https://apnews.com/article/bd45c372caf118ec99964ea547880cd0

UNITED NATIONS (AP) _ A senior U.N. environmental official says entire nations could be wiped off the face of the Earth by rising sea levels if the global warming trend is not reversed by the year 2000.

Coastal flooding and crop failures would create an exodus of ″eco- refugees,′ ′ threatening political chaos, said Noel Brown, director of the New York office of the U.N. Environment Program, or UNEP.

He said governments have a 10-year window of opportunity to solve the greenhouse effect before it goes beyond human control.

As the warming melts polar icecaps, ocean levels will rise by up to three feet, enough to cover the Maldives and other flat island nations, Brown told The Associated Press in an interview on Wednesday.

Coastal regions will be inundated; one-sixth of Bangladesh could be flooded, displacing a fourth of its 90 million people. A fifth of Egypt’s arable land in the Nile Delta would be flooded, cutting off its food supply, according to a joint UNEP and U.S. Environmental Protection Agency study.

″Ecological refugees will become a major concern, and what’s worse is you may find that people can move to drier ground, but the soils and the natural resources may not support life. Africa doesn’t have to worry about land, but would you want to live in the Sahara?″ he said.

UNEP estimates it would cost the United States at least $100 billion to protect its east coast alone.

Shifting climate patterns would bring back 1930s Dust Bowl conditions to Canadian and U.S. wheatlands, while the Soviet Union could reap bumper crops if it adapts its agriculture in time, according to a study by UNEP and the International Institute for Applied Systems Analysis.

Excess carbon dioxide is pouring into the atmosphere because of humanity’s use of fossil fuels and burning of rain forests, the study says. The atmosphere is retaining more heat than it radiates, much like a greenhouse.

The most conservative scientific estimate that the Earth’s temperature will rise 1 to 7 degrees in the next 30 years, said Brown.

https://www.marketforum.com/forum/topic/90532/#90536

+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

Now Gore claims that there will be 1 billion climate refugees because of fossil fuels.  Since the time of the article above, in 1989, the oceans have increased around  4 inches. Please mention  1 nation they were referring to in this statement that it happened to " A senior U.N. environmental official says entire nations could be wiped off the face of the Earth by rising sea levels if the global warming trend is not reversed by the year 2000" as predicted 3 decades ago from that sea level increase?"

Back then, they claimed that global warming and  an increase of +2 Deg. C would be the point of no return. When they realized we wouldn't get there in our life time.......they lowered it to +1.5 Deg. C and called it a climate crisis..........then went into manufacturing an anti science, anti meteorology, anti climate, anti biology, anti agronomy DISinformation scheme with pure propaganda and distorting realities to convince people of something that IS NOT happening.

How about the truth, that fossil fuels are ding the exact opposite of killing people........they are feeding half of the world with synthetic fertilizers and atmospheric fertilizers.

Anothersecret about fossil fuels: Haber Bosch process-fertilizers feeding the planet using natural gas-doubling food production/crop yields.

Finally a real expert telling us the truth about Covid19: Greta on CNN. Scaring and converting children into the climate crisis cult.  Eco-anxiety in children. The unhinged environmentalism of Al Gore

19 January 2023, 2:01pm

https://www.spectator.co.uk/article/al-gore-should-practise-what-he-preaches/

Gore went on to claim that the carbon dioxide trapped in the atmosphere was trapping as much heat ‘as would be released by 600,000 Hiroshima bombs released on Earth every day. That’s what’s boiling the oceans, creating these atmospheric rivers, and the rain bombs, and sucking the moisture out of the land, and creating the droughts and melting the ice’. His Hiroshima comparison seems to have come from a calculation made by the Guardian, and others, of the warming of the oceans in a single year.

But the problem with Hiroshima, needless to say, wasn’t so much the amount of energy as its concentration. If you want to compare the amount of solar energy which is received by the Earth every day with the Hiroshima bomb it is something like 500 trillion times as much. Concentrate that energy in one place and you could certainly boil Al Gore’s head, but boiling oceans? Observational data has yet to produce an example of oceans being brought to boiling point by the heat from the sun.

But Gore wasn’t finished there. He claimed climate change was going to generate a billion refugees and result in us ‘losing our capacity for self-government’. How he came by this figure, he didn’t quite say. He went on to claim that the World Bank is ‘led by a climate denier’. Actually, David Malpass, who holds that position, told CNN in 2019: ‘It’s clear that greenhouse gas emissions are coming from manmade sources, including fossil fuels, methane, agricultural uses and industrial uses, and so we’re working hard to change that’.

Gore seems to have settled on his view of Malpass thanks to the latter replying ‘I’m not a climate scientist’ when Gore personally tried to get him to agree to statements on the climate. I know from personal experience Al Gore’s tendency to call you a denier if you dare challenge anything says – he used the same ruse with me when I interviewed him in 2017.

Study: Cold kills 20 times more people than heat

Doyle Rice

USA TODAY

https://www.usatoday.com/story/weather/2015/05/20/cold-weather-deaths/27657269/

That extra 600 billion Hiroshima bomb heat that Al Gore referred to is saving many lives on this planet with much more food and more favorable conditions to live and grow crops, especially since the majority of the big increase in heat has been in the coldest places on the planet in the coldest times of year.

++++++++++++++++++

For those interested in the core of the science, I think this here is a beautiful twist. According to the orthodoxy there are two main anthropogenic drivers of climate change – GHGs and aerosols. The latter shall be cooling and hold back the otherwise GHG related warming by about 1/3. Now that is a 1/3 globally, despite aerosols being concentrated in mid NH latitudes. There this negative forcing should even dominate GHG forcing. So how did it turn out..

Only in a world where the United Nations has taken over the messages and narratives could such a thing happen. Remember now, that the 1989 article above CAME from the UN. It was the UN that CREATED the IPCC.......not to study climate that includes natural cycles or natural impacts but only to study the affects of humans on climate. Almost all climate scientists work for the government of their country. All of them use the IPCC reports as their climate bible.  IPCC = INTERGOVERNMENTAL Panel On Climate Change.

One of the first things that the IPCC did after the UN created it to hijack climate science is that it REWROTE climate history to wipe out the Medieval Warm period. 1,000 years ago.

Folks, this seems impossible and like some sort of conspiracy and why the call people like me deniers but once again, here is the 100% proof they did it with the authentic science and truth

BTW, some of the same people associated with this same political  cause (and make no mistake the Climate Accord has ZERO to do with the climate=pure political) have elevated another lunatic to a hero but he's an even more dangerous psychopath because his actions have caused many thousands to die and millions to lose their home and country and hundreds of billions of damage and is just fine with getting his country obliterated so that he can become a global hero for the UN/NATO's cause.

I actually agree strongly with the vast majority of the agenda of the United Nations but their leaders are extremely corrupt and have the most dangerous power of all........unlimited power in many realms with 0 oversight by anybody above them.

This causes them to take extreme measures to accomplish what they decide are altruistic goals that trump EVERYTHING else......including having Ukraine obliterated in order to destroy Russia.

Thunberg: Davos Elite 'Fueling Destruction of Planet'

https://www.newsmax.com/newsfront/greta-thunberg-wef-davos/2023/01/19/id/1105072/

"Some in Big Oil peddled the big lie," he said. "And like the tobacco industry, those responsible must be held to account."

++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

Actually, if there were true justice, the climate charlatans like the UN, Al Gore and Greta would be held accountable for their decades of deception and damaging fake environmental solutions and the leaders of the fossil fuel industries would be getting the Nobel Prizes for gifting humans with the fuel that is responsible for lifting much of humanity out of poverty and greatly extending life spans as well as most of technology that exists. This is what provides this generation with an abundance of things that enhance the quality of our lives.........including much of the world food production.

Tobacco use killed millions of  people.

Fossil Fuel use has saved 100's of millions of lives and is feeding billions of lives.

It's wind turbines that are killing birds, bats and whales and destroying ecosystems that are destroying the planet. Electric cars are tearing up the earth for rare metals for a retarded  way to have transportation energy in order to shift away from the perfect energy source...........that serves as its own battery in your fuel tank.

Regardless of how convincing these people have been with their fake climate crisis stuff, the planet is having an indisputable climate optimum for life and CO2 is a beneficial gas and is only at half of the optimal level for plants and it was 2 deg. C WARMER than this between 9,000 to 5,000 years ago during the Holocene climate OPTIMUM.

Temperatures on this planet similar to this were always referred to as climate OPTIMUM's until these people hijacked climate science, where they now call the exact same thing a climate CRISIS. And the beneficial CO2, the building block for all of life has now been redefined as carbon pollution.

I listen to NPR radio when in the car during weekday afternoons. Outstanding programming on many things but out to lunch on the fake climate crisis.

They were interviewing a person from FEMA about the heavy rains in California late yesterday afternoon.

The interviewer from NPR, as usual wanted the conversation to be all about climate change. The FEMA official refused to take the bait.

Paraphrasing below:

Interviewer: "With climate change causing much more extreme weather like we've seen recently around the world and in California earlier this month that featured historical rains, how will FEMA respond in the future as climate change makes these storms even stronger and increases damage exponentially?"

FEMA: We will continue our plan to implement mitigation strategies as we always have. Being prepared is the key and we've got numerous ways to prepare for these storms that have always hit California.

Interviewer: But not like this. Because of climate change the extreme weather is so much worse. What additional steps will you take because of that.?

FEMA: Our plans are to continue to use mitigation to reduce the impact and to be best be  prepared by adapting.

https://www.fema.gov/emergency-managers/risk-management/hazard-mitigation-planning

+++++++++++

I'll bet NPR wishes they had a better person to interview(of which there are plenty) that would have elaborated on the false narrative that climate change is causing more extreme weather.

Heavier rains (+7% more moisture when the temp is +1 Deb C from global warming)

Heat waves are around 1 Deg. hotter in the mid latitudes but much more than that in the high latitudes(coldest places are warming the most, which is one of the reasons its a climate optimum).

Cold still kills many more people than heat and cold still kills hundreds of times more biological life than heat.

Some hurricanes can be stronger. Sea levels rising around a 1 foot...........every century.

Everything else features benefits mentioned a zillion times here.

Most life prefers it warmer than this. Life doesn't care about seas rising 1 inch/decade and all life loves the extra CO2 which is why the planet is greening up and would greatly prefer MORE CO2.

US Rainfall Records

The map/link below shows rainfall records for the US for total rains, going from a time frame of 1 minute up to a time frame of 1 year. If you go to the link, you will see this better. It shows the date of occurrence for each of these 20 events. The surprise is that all of them occurred BEFORE 1983 and before man made global warming and climate change would have been a factor. I can't completely explain this as I had recently done a study on our local region going back 120 years that did show heavier rain events over the last 30 years with an especially big increase in the last 15 years..

I think that we have in fact had at least a slight increase in the # of extreme rain events, however, this shows that regardless of humans the really extreme events have always happened and will continue to happen.

March (Weather) Madness: The Most Extreme Month of the Year

https://www.wunderground.com/cat6/March-Weather-Madness-Most-Extreme-Month-Year

On March 27, 1984, Brownsville, Texas, recorded its hottest temperature on record (for any month) with 106°F. This is the only major site in the U.S. to have measured their hottest temperature on record during the month of March. As for cold, the only significant site I’m aware of that has broken its all-time coldest temperature during March is Waterloo, Iowa, with a –34°F reading on March 1, 1962 (later tied on January 16, 2009). There is no other month of the year in the contiguous U.S. that has seen at least one all-time record high and all-time record low temperatures broken.

From the article above:

March 1913: Deadliest Regional Flood in U.S. History

March 1925: Deadliest Tornado Outbreak in U.S. History

March 1962: The Great Atlantic Storm

March 1914 and 1932: Lowest Barometric Pressure for a Non-Tropical Cyclone

March 2012: The Most Anomalous “Heat Wave” in U.S. History

+++++++++++++++

metmike: The most extreme heat waves by far were during the Summers of the 1930's.

1936 was the worst:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1936_North_American_heat_wave

Summer (June–August) 1936 average temperature, in degrees Fahrenheit. Record warmest and coldest is based on a 112-year period of records (1895–2006).[1]

Summer (June–August) 1936 precipitation, in inches. Record wettest and driest is based on a 112-year period of records (from 1895 until 2006).

+++++++++++++

Note that almost all that record smashing extreme weather above was well BEFORE climate change happened.

For those that insist the recent drought out West, followed by the extreme precip this year was/is being caused by climate change..........the data proves otherwise!!!!

The weather 160 years ago out there was far more extreme. Not even close.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Great_Flood_of_1862

The Great Flood of 1862 was the largest flood in the recorded history of California, Oregon, and Nevada, inundating the western United States and portions of British Columbia and Mexico. It was preceded by weeks of continuous rains and snows that began in Oregon in November 1861 and continued into January 1862. This was followed by a record amount of rain from January 9–12, and contributed to a flood that extended from the Columbia River southward in western Oregon, and through California to San Diego, and extended as far inland as Idaho in the Washington Territory, Nevada and Utah in the Utah Territory, and Arizona in the western New Mexico Territory. The event dumped an equivalent of 10 feet (3.0 m) of water in California, in the form of rain and snow, over a period of 43 days.[3][4] Immense snowfalls in the mountains of far western North America caused more flooding in Idaho, Arizona, New Mexico, as well as in Baja California and Sonora, Mexico the following spring and summer, as the snow melted.

The event was capped by a warm intense storm that melted the high snow load. The resulting snow-melt flooded valleys, inundated or swept away towns, mills, dams, flumes, houses, fences, and domestic animals, and ruined fields. It has been described as the worst disaster ever to strike California.[5] The storms caused approximately $100 million (1861 USD) in damage, approximately equal to $3.117 billion (2021 USD). The governor, state legislature, and state employees were not paid for a year and a half.[2] At least 4,000 people were estimated to have been killed in the floods in California, which was roughly 1% of the state population at the time.[1]

Background

The weather pattern that caused this flood was not from an El Niño-type event, and from the existing  Army and private weather records, it has been determined that the polar jet stream was to the north, as the Pacific Northwest experienced a mild rainy pattern for the first half of December 1861. In 2012, hydrologists and meteorologists concluded that the precipitation was likely caused by a series of atmospheric rivers that hit the Western United States along the entire West Coast, from Oregon to Southern California.[6]

An atmospheric river is a wind-borne, deep layer of water vapor with origins in the tropics, extending from the surface to high altitudes, often above 10,000 feet, and concentrated into a relatively narrow band, typically about 400 to 600 kilometres (250 to 370 mi) wide, usually running ahead of a frontal boundary, or merging into it.[7][8]  With the right dynamics in place to provide lift, an atmospheric river can produce astonishing amounts of precipitation, especially if it stalls over an area for any length of time.

The floods followed a 20-year-long drought.[9] During November, prior to the flooding, Oregon had steady but heavier-than-normal rainfall, with heavier snow in the mountains.[10]: 76–83  Researchers believe the jet stream had slipped south, accompanied by freezing conditions reported at Oregon stations by December 25. Heavy rainfall began falling in California as the longwave trough moved south over the state, remaining there until the end of January 1862, causing precipitation to fall everywhere in the state for nearly 40 days. Eventually, the trough moved even further south, causing snow to fall in the Central Valley and surrounding mountain ranges (15 feet of snow in the Sierra Nevada).[11][12]

Current interest

A map of the flood area of the hypothetical ARkStorm event

The storm was not an unprecedented occurrence. Geologic evidence has been found that massive floods, of equal or greater magnitude to the 1861–1862 event, have occurred in California roughly every 100 to 200 years.[24] The United States Geological Survey has developed a hypothetical scenario, known as the "ARkStorm", that would occur should a similar event occur in modern-day California.[55][56][57] If such a storm were to occur today, it would probably cause over $725 billion to $1 trillion in damage.[1][58]  The likelihood of a massive flooding event is estimated to have been increased due to climate change.[59][60]

Thanks to the 2nd year of the natural El Nino, reservoirs in most of California are almost full!

Last year, they were overflowing! Most recent California reservoir status:

https://cdec.water.ca.gov/resapp/RescondMain

Snow water content the last 2 years has been abundant!

https://cdec.water.ca.gov/snowapp/swcchart.action

That abundant snowpack in the West extends to the east across the Central and Southern Rockies.

Recent El Nino driven storms have been a blessing for the West which relies on melting snow later this year for their water supply.
