Political fallout mounts over FBI’s raid on Trump’s Mar-a-Lago

https://nypost.com/2022/08/13/political-fallout-mounts-over-fbi-raid-on-trump-mar-a-lago-home/

“There is political bias within the FBI, and I think it’s legitimate to raise the question about …. the way President Trump has been treated,” Iowa Sen. Chuck Grassley, ranking member of the Senate Judiciary Committee, told Fox News.

Grassley echoed the call of House Republicans who said Friday the Department of Justice should hand over not only the FBI’s search warrant, but also the supporting affidavit, a document detailing the basis for investigators’ suspicions that the 45th president was criminally holding on to papers from his single term in office

Rudy Giuliani says Trump will 'raid every one of Biden's houses' if the former president wins the 2024 presidential election

https://www.businessinsider.com/giuliani-trump-raid-biden-homes-fbi-search-2024-presidential-election-2022-8

Giuliani, a former New York city mayor and longtime Trump loyalist, told The New York Post that Trump could use the FBI to retaliate against Biden if he were to head back to the Oval Office.

"Breaking into the home of a former president is a political act — particularly since you're breaking precedent. All of a sudden, you're the first president of the United States who introduced the banana-republic process of prosecuting your predecessor. We've avoided it for 240 years. Trump didn't do it to Hillary. Ford didn't do it," he told the newspaper.

"If Trump gets elected, the first thing he'll do is raid every one of Biden's houses," he added.

metmike: This raid was unprecedented...........but also, none of those other presidents tried to overturn the results of a clearly proven election that they lost...or caused a riot at the Capital Building by their supporters that wanted to accomplish this.

In fact, every one of the previous presidents RESPECTED the Constitution, democratic elections and will of the people. Not 99% of them but 100% of them.

While Trump shist on all those things and continues to shist on all those things. Tens of Millions of his confused supporters still think that Biden stole the election,

The main thing being stolen is the intelligence of gullible republicans by Donald Trump. Many Republican politicians and far right media go along with the charade for self serving interests.

There are a few honest politicians though like Liz Cheney. Here's more on the investigation: //www.marketforum.com/foruwlm/topic/87744/

All that evidence above might as well be in a foreign language to Trump supporters:

Fake news/DISinformation by Trump and his corrupt associates as they reshaped the minds of tens of millions of gullible republicans with their criminal manufacturing of blatant election lies.

So it's hard to sympathize with the president that's done more damage to our country than all the other presidents combined!

Republicans pressure Garland as intrigue deepens over search of Trump home

https://www.cnn.com/2022/08/15/politics/republicans-garland-trump-home-search-analysis/index.html

This is exactly what democrats want.

For republicans to rally in support of Trump and try to portray him as a victim (again) being unfairly persecuted and scrutinized by a politicized DOJ and others.

Of course this is political!!!

Were we supposed to wait for the republicans to hold Trump accountable for his actions? (actually, there are a few doing that but not the vast majority).

Who exactly is supposed to investigate all of the crimes we witnessed him commit in front of our eyes and ears (that some people pretend didn't happen) during the last 2 months in office?

His supporters?

The ones pretending that  what the rest of us witnessed was imagined?

The more republicans support Trump, the weaker their position is on everything related to Trump because the majority of Americans are NEVER TRUMP and to turn on the most people in many elections and especially one featuring Donald Trump himself(2024 presidential election)  the biggest positive is to have this person on the ballet running for the Ds:

NOT Donald Trump

This administration is doing an awful job in many realms and they don't have much to run on.

Their biggest accomplishment, however is that:

They aren't Donald Trump.

Bolton: Trump explanations on classified documents show ‘real level of desperation’

https://thehill.com/policy/national-security/3602538-bolton-trump-explanations-on-classified-documents-show-real-level-of-desperation/

"Trump has said he unilaterally declassified the documents using his presidential authority. Other Trump officials have publicly said the former president had a standing order that any documents taken from the Oval Office to the residence were immediately declassified.

However, Bolton told the Times he had never been told of such an order during his time in the White House or afterward.

“I was never briefed on any such order, procedure, policy when I came in,” Bolton said."

metmike: This is retarded rationalizing. That Trump can do what he wants with documents and his actions, because he's the president immediately makes whatever he does legal because he did it.

That same mindset was in force after the election too. Trump thought that he could change the results of the legal, democratic election to show that he won, because..............he's the omnipotent president.

Forget the Constitution. Forget the accurate and verified vote counts. Forget any laws.

Trump is the all powerful ruler and his decrees turn into new rules/laws the second that he hands them down......without authorization from Congress, the Supreme Court, the American people or the justice department.

People that object to this are unfairly targeting him because of their TDS because Donald Trump is the real victim in this. All he wants is whats best for Americans.

That's not a made up mindset. It defines the strong opinions in the minds of tens of millions of republicans!

I think some polls show Trump beating Biden in a one on one 2024 presidential election

Some Dems want Biden to step aside for 2024

Some pubs want Trump to step aside for 2024

Might be why Pelosi went to Taiwan

Pelosi wanted name recognition [free TV every nite] to run in 2024 as many don't really want either Biden or Kamala

Perhaps Pelosi was testing the Dem political machine, for possible support in a primary

I am sure there are multiple senerios with multiple people wanting to have a go in a primary, both sides of the aisle

Trying to keep up with Trump's lies is like trying to catch confetti in a wind storm.  I'll try:

I didn't take the documents.

If I did take the documents they weren't classified.

If they were classified then they were planted.

If they were not planted, then I declassified them.

And if I didn't declassify them, then it's a hoax.

If it's not a hoax, then Obama did it.

OK, I made up the last 2 ...

He acts like a mob boss (without murdering anyone I'll grant). He even used the term "rat" to describe an unknown person in Mara a Lago working with the FBI.

The lie about him declassifying them is SO easy to debunk.  Show us the evidence/process/paperwork of the declassification.  He lies in broad daylight.  Nothing will penetrate the mind of those in the cult.

The criminal probe of the Georgia election interference attempt is another example of doing it in broad daylight.

Trump once accused someone of being guilty for taking the 5th amendment, yet he took the 5th in NY over 400 times last week.

Some moderates have said the FBI raid puts Trump in the news again and that gives him oxygen.  I say so what!  Follow the law wherever it takes you.

-----

The notion that Pelosi is going to run for President is somewhere between 0 and .001% (IMO).

Democratic governor Newsom of California is a possibility.

metmike: Trump has done the most damage to his own party and the people most damaged by it worship him and would strongly prefer having that damage maximized with more of exactly what caused the most of it,  is causing it now and would cause more of it.

Biden looks horrible.........until he's viewed as NOT DONALD TRUMP.

Trump may not be the best but if it was my country [which it isn't] I would want Trump exactly because he would not likely trip over a cord laying on the platform/tarmac when visiting XI

A criminal [10 % Joe] Biden is not what the country needs with China wanting war

Maybe china does or maybe not. Prolly depends on who the president is

Or Hillary [100,000.00 trading cattle, never loses] come to think about it

But her speeches are worth the money [lol]

DeSantis would run much higher deficits [if CA is an example]. plus huge green agenda and taxes. DeSantis hasn't done much for CA that more taxes wouldn't make it all good

Hi mcfarm

Did I get DeSantis of Florida and Newsom of Ca mixed up???

We have 10 provinces

You have 49 in the lower main land

Kind of hard for me to keep every thing in good order

Sorry for the misleading post

I could not name the premiers of every Canadian province and I only need to know 10

Donald Trump treated classified information like ‘his own shiny toy’

https://www.yakimaherald.com/lifestyle/entertainment/donald-trump-treated-classified-information-like-his-own-shiny-toy/article_750aea05-58f4-5cd0-8d9d-e7b703ea34dd.html

Donald Trump treated classified information like “his own shiny toy”, his former White House press secretary claims.

Stephanie Grisham hit out as Trump supporters continue to claim the former US president was not mishandling secret material by storing them at his Mar-a-Lago resort following the end of his term.

Ms Grisham told the Associated Press her ex-boss was “careless” with secret materials when in office, and “seemed never to bother with why that was bad”.

She also recalled an incident where Trump wanted to show off Conan, a dog who played a major role in the killing of Isis leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi.

Ms Grisham, who resigned her role as Trump’s chief of staff after the January 6 Capitol Hill riot, said staff had been briefed photographs could put Conan’s handlers in danger.

But when the animal arrived, Trump wanted exposure linked to the dog.

Ms Grisham said: “Because he wanted the publicity, out went Conan. It’s an example of him not caring if he put lives in danger... it was like it’s his own shiny toy he’s showing off to his friends to impress them.”

Former White House National Security Adviser John Bolton has said he repeatedly struggled to explain the significance of exposing information to Trump.

He added: “I don’t think any of it sank in. He didn’t seem to appreciate just how sensitive it was, how dangerous it was for some of our people and the risks that they could be exposed to.

“I would say over and over again, ‘This is really sensitive, really sensitive’. And he’d say, ‘I know’ and then go and do it anyway.”

Trump’s £133 million Mar-a-Lago resort in Palm Beach, Florida, was raided by FBI agents at 6.30am on August 8, who were reportedly hunting for nuclear documents, before removing boxes including ones marked top secret.

The 76-year-old former president has been calling for the release of papers linked to the search, which he branded “un-American, unwarranted, and unnecessary”.

Authorities say there have been a growing tide of threats against government agencies amid outrage from Trump supporters over the search, including talk of plans to use a dirty bomb on FBI headquarters, and mount “armed rebellion” and all-out civil war.

Bill Barr with more profoundly wise words!

William Barr Rips Trump For 'Pandering To Outrage' Over Mar-A-Lago Search

https://sports.yahoo.com/william-barr-rips-trump-pandering-235019554.html

“The problem with Trump is that it’s all about running just the base election, whip up your base, get your base all upset, get them outraged and turn them out at the polls,” Barr said.

“That’s a prescription for continued hostility within the country, and demoralization of the country and an impasse in the country,” he added, which Barr also accused “both sides” of creating.

Barr called Trump his “own worst enemy,” who’s responsible for provoking much of “venom” directed at him.

Barr said when he joined the administration, he hoped Trump would rise to the office of the presidency. “He didn’t,” he added.

But Trump has managed to turn much of the party into a personality cult, Barr indicated.

“This pursuit of a personal agenda and personal power is weakening the Republican Party,” Barr said. “You don’t make America great again by making people madder and madder and madder.”
