Investors Start To Realize The Energy Transition Will Take Decades

https://oilprice.com/Energy/Energy-General/Investors-Start-To-Realize-The-Energy-Transition-Will-Take-Decades.html

  • Everyone in the oil and gas industry is now talking about decarbonization and net-zero emissions.
  • Energy security and affordability have made their way to the top of the agenda.
  • There is a broader understanding among the public and governments that until a clean energy system is ready, oil and gas will continue to play a prominent role in global energy

Saudi Aramco Shares Some Hard Truths About Our Energy Future

https://oilprice.com/Energy/Energy-General/Saudi-Aramco-Shares-Some-Hard-Truths-About-Our-Energy-Future.html

  • The CEO of Saudi Aramco did not pull any punches in a recent speech when criticizing the short-term outlook of certain energy transition policies.
  • The world’s largest oil company reiterated its belief that the world must invest heavily in fossil fuels in order to ensure energy security in the future.
  • Nasser described recent investments as too little, too late, and too short-term, suggesting that much more needs to be done.

The fake green, anti environmental, diffuse, intermittent solar and  wind energy sources, along with batteries have no chance to provide even half of the energy in the next 30 years.

That has become very obvious now that those sources have gone from theoretical and promises to real world performance.......or should we say UNDERperformance across the board. .....which was always going to be the case because of the laws of physics, energy and economics.

But the crony capitalists, corrupt governments and dishonest scientists will continue to push ahead to the detriment of consumers and economies because there are too many corrupt people with too much power benefiting.

They've already convinced a billion+  energy and science/climate ignorant people that we have a climate crisis and that a green energy fairy with magic fairly dust will sprinkle it on solar and wind farms and store that energy in grid scale battery technology that doesn't exist.......except in the world of science fiction which describes how we were supposed to free ourselves from evil fossil fuels.

Extremely power dense fossil fuels, that act as their own batteries (the energy is stored in the fuel) which are in abundance and received from  an extremely well developed, efficient delivery system will NOT be replaced by solar and wind.

If we'd been using solar and wind the last century and fossil fuels were just discovered, with reserves like we know today........... The world would be switching to fossil fuels at a rate 10 times faster than we're switching away from them.

Because the early part of the conversion to fossil fuels would feature them OVER performing by a wide margin compared to solar and wind.

There would be no fake climate crisis because CO2 would be seen as what it really is. A beneficial gas. In fact, it would be a SELLING POINT to convert faster to fossil fuels based on authentic science and honest energy principles.

Biden’s Offshore Oil and Gas Lease Plan to be Delayed 18 Months

By IER

March 10, 2023

https://www.instituteforenergyresearch.org/uncategorized/bidens-offshore-oil-and-gas-lease-plan-to-be-delayed-18-months/

President Biden’s oil and gas offshore lease plan is late and will be even later as the Interior Department argues it needs until December to finalize the plan. It told a court it needs the rest of the year to complete an analysis on the delayed five-year program, which will replace the expired 2017-2022 program. There is currently no active offshore leasing program providing for new lease sales despite the Outer Continental Shelf Lands Act mandating that the Secretary of the Interior ‘shall prepare’ this program to ‘best meet national energy needs.’ America’s energy future is on hold as the Biden Administration deliberates on how to comply with the law at the same time it is working to “end fossil fuels” as President Biden promised. Senator Manchin, who chairs the Energy and Natural Resources Committee, said the administration is “putting their radical climate agenda ahead of our nation’s energy security” with the delay and what is even more terrifying is that on top of this disturbing timeline, Interior refuses to confirm if they intend to actually include any lease sales in the final plan. The draft proposal released last July had an option of no lease sales

++++++++++++++

Biden is clearly recognizing that following thru with his ending fossil fuels promise during the campaign would sentence the US to energy poverty and rapid economic and consumer ruin because cheap, reliable and abundant fossil fuels are the LIFE BLOOD of almost every developed countries economy.

China leans on coal amid energy security push

https://www.reuters.com/business/energy/china-underlines-key-role-coal-amid-energy-security-drive-2023-03-05/

  • Summary
  • State planner says to increase coal production
  • Sees coal 'supporting' expansion of renewables
  • Calls for controls on replacing coal with gas
  • Indicates higher gas prices coming for urban users

BEIJING, March 5 (Reuters) - China's state planner underlined a greater role for coal in its power supply on Sunday, saying the fossil fuel would be used to improve the reliability and security of its energy system.

Soaring global energy prices following Russia's invasion of Ukraine and domestic supply disruption have prompted Beijing to step up its focus on energy security in recent years.

The world's second-biggest economy relied on coal to generate 56.2% of its electricity last year, according to data from the National Bureau of Statistics

The world's second-biggest economy relied on coal to generate 56.2% of its electricity last year, according to data from the National Bureau of Statistics, but has significantly boosted its use of natural gas and renewable energy in recent years to lower carbon emissions.

Fluctuating output from renewable plants, however, has led policymakers to lean on reliable and easily dispatchable coal power to shore up the country's baseload supply. Last year, scorching summer temperatures and a drought in China's southwest caused hydropower output to dwindle, leading to power outages.

"We will strengthen the basic supporting role of coal (and) take orderly steps to increase advanced coal production while ensuring safety," said the National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC) in a report to the annual gathering of parliament.

China approved the construction of another 106 gigawatts of coal-fired power capacity last year, four times higher than a year earlier and the highest since 2015, driven by energy security considerations, research showed last week.

About 50GW of that went into construction.

"The energy security narrative is still going strong," said Greenpeace China policy advisor Li Shuo.

"This has given impetus to China's coal sector as seen in the rapid approval of coal plants across the country," he said.

ue

The NDRC also stressed the importance of ramping up domestic oil and gas supply.

"We will intensify the exploration and development of petroleum and natural gas at home to discover more untapped reserves and increase production," it said.

Despite a strategy to boost use of natural gas as a bridge fuel to achieve its 2060 carbon neutrality, China is slowing an aggressive campaign started in 2017 to replace coal with gas.

Concerned about supply shortages amid high global prices, the planner pledged to "strictly control the expansion of projects to replace coal with natural gas".

The state planner also reiterated its efforts to further reform the oil and gas sector, with a focus on improving the pricing mechanism for natural gas to better reflect the cost of production and procurement.

China imports about 40% of its gas consumption

++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

This is not breaking news to anybody that understands the laws of laws of physics and energy and the economy. It was always 100% etched in stone going to happen this way but the climate and energy charlatans convinced the world in a fake climate crisis for their agenda and made up a fairy tale plan to save the planet which has always been nonsense from day 1!

China' and India's rapidly increasing emissions of CO2 are dwarfing cuts by the US and EU(CO2 is well mixed in the global atmosphere) making the switch to fake green, anti environmental energy nothing but counterproductive........other than to save more fossil fuels for our children to use after they start applying common sense and honest science.

Biden, EU Leader To Discuss Proposal On Electric Vehicles

Biden and von der Leyen are expected to agree to open negotiations between the U.S. and the EU on a deal that could boost the use of European minerals critical in the production of electric vehicle batteries that are eligible for U.S. tax credits through Biden's roughly $375 billion clean energy law that passed last year.

“We do hope to be able to come out of this meeting able to launch some negotiations on a trade agreement on critical minerals as well as a dialogue on subsidy transparency,” White House National Security Council spokesman John Kirby said.

Biden and von der Leyen are also expected to use their Oval Office meeting to discuss Western coordination to support Ukraine in the war against Russia, joint efforts to decrease Europe's dependence on Russian fossil fuels and the Biden administration's growing concerns that China is considering providing weaponry to Russia for use in the war.

Why the Climate Fight Will Fail without India

India is at an energy crossroads: if it chooses fossil fuels, it could undermine global climate targets

https://www.scientificamerican.com/article/why-the-climate-fight-will-fail-without-india/

At the global climate talks in 2021, Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced that India would aim to zero out emissions by 2070. Two weeks later, as negotiations came to a close, India led a push to water down language that called for phasing out the use of coal, which provides the country with around 70 percent of its power generation (Climatewire, Nov. 16, 2021).

They continue to pretend that India might not be massively ramping up their use of fossil fuels, especially coal.

Things like a promise of a goal half a century from now........are laughable and mean ZERO.....except to use as propaganda for the fake "save the planet" narrative.

It's all being exposed now that the fake green energy is massively UNDER performing and hurting the countries applying it.

India shows how hard it is to move beyond fossil fuels

A renewable-energy revolution is neither imminent nor pain-free

https://www.economist.com/briefing/2018/08/02/india-shows-how-hard-it-is-to-move-beyond-fossil-fuels?utm_medium=cpc.adword.pd&utm_source=google&ppccampaignID=17210591673&ppcadID=&utm_campaign=a.22brand_pmax&utm_content=conversion.direct-response.anonymous&gclid=Cj0KCQiAx6ugBhCcARIsAGNmMbjUD-5UrhqrXJSamx3jYjkkEVPtWkkJOABf0BykGm_xTLjul5jXAbwaAtF5EALw_wcB&gclsrc=aw.ds

The justification to allow India and China many more decades to meet carbon free targets is because they need fossil fuels to lift their people out of poverty, just like the more developed countries, like the US and EU have done.

Somehow, they don't apply the exact same principle to the elimination of fossil fuels from the developed countries.........

If fossil fuels are responsible for lifting you out of poverty and the fake green energy cannot do that very well.........

Guess what happens when you take away the main thing that lifted you out of poverty and is the current lifeblood of almost every developed countries economy?

You move back towards economic and energy poverty when you cut fossil fuels!!!

The more you cut, the greater the damage.

If we raised our children to believe that 2+2=5 or that the sun revolves around the moon, then did a poll and found out that the vast majority believe those things it's NOT proof of them acquiring knowledge.

It only proves how effective we were in teaching junk math/science to them.

Climate science was hijacked by the United Nations in the late 1980's. They created the IPCC(InterGOVERNMENTAL Panel on Climate Change) as the worlds authority for all government scientists to follow.

One of the first things that the IPCC did was rewrite climate history to wipe out the Medieval Warm Period, 1,000 years ago that was at least as warm as this.

https://www.marketforum.com/forum/topic/27525/#27705

The IPCC targets the human impact on climate, not natural cycles and has been too warm and wrong because they use global climate models that have almost all been too warm and the most widely used one (for political purposes) is impossibly warm with a near 0 chance of even being close. And they ignore the massive benefits from CO2 and the fact that the greening planet is experiencing the best weather/climate for most life in over 1,000 years during the current climate OPTIMUM!

What’s wrong with these climate models?

By Chad Small | December 16, 2022

https://thebulletin.org/2022/12/whats-wrong-with-these-climate-models/

Since 1979, a composite of global climate models has shown warming in every part of the world’s oceans, including the Eastern Pacific. But observed sea surface temperatures over the same time period have shown a surprising cooling trend in the Eastern Pacific Ocean while the rest of the rest of the world’s waters steadily get warmer. [White blocks indicate coastal regions where composite model data are not included.] (Dong et al., 2021 / Erik English / Chad Small)

In particular, because the Eastern Pacific is cooling while the Western Pacific is warming, it will yield a very different global warming outcome than if the ocean warmed more uniformly.

As David Battisti, a professor of Atmospheric Sciences at the University of Washington and one of Dong’s coauthors, explains, if reality matched the models, the clouds over the Eastern Pacific would start to break up. While all clouds have the potential to reflect the sun’s radiation, the clouds in the Eastern Pacific are lower altitude clouds and reflect more solar radiation back into space than their taller, colder counterparts in the Western Pacific. Less cloud cover means the Eastern Pacific would continue to warm, effectively reducing the absolute temperature difference between each side of the Pacific Ocean. That would weaken the Walker circulation, a naturally occurring atmospheric circulation pattern in the Pacific that, among other things, maintains clouds in the Eastern Pacific.

But a cooling East Pacific has the opposite effect: strengthening the Walker circulation and building more reflective clouds in the East Pacific.

“We found ‘okay models cannot reproduce observations’,” Dong explained. “That should be a big problem because that tells us if something is wrong with models’ forcing or forced response that might tell us something is wrong with their future projections.”

While that may be a troubling problem for climate scientists, it means that based on observed Eastern Pacific cooling, the models are very likely overshooting end of century global warming estimates, Battisti and Dong said. Even with an active greenhouse effect, these stronger Eastern Pacific clouds still reflect a non-negligible amount of solar radiation back to space, bringing down overall warming.

“You’ll still have global warming,” Battisti said. “It’ll get warmer more and more as [you] increase CO2, but not as fast as it would be if the warming was more in the East than the West.”

Science

The Worst-Case Scenario for Global Warming Tracks Closely With Actual Emissions

With scientists divided between hope and despair, a new study finds that the model projecting warming of 4.3 degrees Celsius is “actually the best choice.”

https://insideclimatenews.org/news/03082020/climate-change-scenarios-emissions/?gclid=Cj0KCQiAx6ugBhCcARIsAGNmMbjOAnzr-pfw7cH7mY_uuwApkYqON4MVY8pdTczxCrtoydVJctESHFIaAoGdEALw_wcB

RCP 8.5: Business-as-usual or a worst-case scenario?

https://climatenexus.org/climate-change-news/rcp-8-5-business-as-usual-or-a-worst-case-scenario/

In sum, RCP 8.5 is in line with the current trajectory of emissions and in line with the pathway promoted by those policy-makers championing the use of fossil fuels such as coal-fired power.  However, looking decades ahead, emissions on the current business-as-usual trajectory may ultimately come close to but fall short of, the emissions usually associated with RCP 8.5.  Some researchers have identified RCP 7 as a more accurate representation of the emissions in the years further out along the current business-as-usual pathway.

Importantly, the temperature projected by RCP 8.5 may be close to the temperature encountered on the business-as-usual pathway if the carbon feedbacks expected on the business-as-usual path come to pass.

+++++++++++++

This is complete hogwash!

And you can find this climate propaganda being spouted everywhere on the internet and in the media.

THE CLIMATE MODELS ARE TOO WARM!!!

And instead of adjusting them down to reality, they came up with new EVEN HOTTER models to use!!!

Now why would they do that?

Because  the models are NOT science. They exist as tools to be used by the climate, green energy, science and political charlatans to exploit the fake climate crisis for self serving interests worth many hundreds of trillions.

++++++++++++++++++++

Added: You can put whatever mathematical equations into a model that you want to cause it to show whatever it is you want to show.  If you are a modeler  totally convinced that we're having a climate crisis from CO2 warming the atmosphere, then you would obviously be using the mathematical equations to represent that speculative theory in a model going out for the next 100 years.

The thing that allows them to get away with this is that they NEVER have to reconcile the models with authentic empirical data or the observations. In exercises where they pretend to be proving  the global climate models are accurate are anti scientific method, data doctoring, pathetic examples of dishonest science.

Speaking of which.........let's go to the #1 fake climate crisis propaganda site in the world for a few words on that topic:

Fake  green, anti environmental,  diffuse, intermittent solar/wind and a battery technology not yet developed for the power grid will never be able to efficiently power our society as well as fossil fuels because of the laws of physics, energy and economies.

China, Russia, India and the Middle East all know this. The US and EU have had their brains captured and are following manufactured realities and false narratives leading them astray.

Look closely at the graph below. IT'S RIGHT THERE, PEOPLE!

In depth discussion: Climate Change

https://thebulletin.org/doomsday-clock/current-time/climate-change/

As a consequence, global carbon dioxide emissions from burning fossil fuels, after having rebounded from the COVID economic decline to an all-time high in 2021, continued to rise in 2022 and hit another record high. A decline in Chinese emissions was overshadowed by a rise in the United States, India, and elsewhere.

Annual fossil CO2 emissions since 1960, projected through 2022. Based on data from Global Carbon Budget 2022.

Against the backdrop of this year’s climate-related tragedies, the UN climate regime took a promising step forward on the adaptation front at its annual negotiations in Sharm el Sheikh, Egypt. The parties at the UN climate conference reached a compromise agreement to create a fund to support poor and vulnerable countries in addressing the mounting toll from climate change impacts. To reach the intended goal, the cooperation that led to this agreement needs to persist in this coming year’s negotiations, when countries take up the question of actually contributing money to the fund.

The delusional source above mentions China's CO2 emissions declined last year and continued to be in complete denial of the reality. China has no intention of cutting CO2 emissions and is INCREASING coal, same as India. Stop pretending with this complete BS fake climate crisis scheme that has tricked the science ignorant in the US and EU with false narratives about the totally fake climate crisis! The drop in global CO2 emissions will NEVER happen, ironically because countries with supposedly freedom of the (dishonest/colluding) press and  democracies are the ones being led down a destructive energy/economic path by junk/corrupted science, crony capitalism, fraudulent political agenda, propaganda, and DISinformation using a busted, speculative theory of catastrophic warming based on entirely busted global climate models using fairly tale mathematical equations to come up with scientifically impossible catastrophic future outcomes ............while China, Russia, India, the Middle East and others are the ones following authentic science and the legit, proven laws of energy and economic principles.

Let that truly sink in.

We are the ones that have been completely brainwashed and THEY are the ones following true science.

You can thank the United Nations for starting it back in the late 1980's!  Ironically, they exploited the very things that make our countries free to brainwash us!!!!

The leaders of the other countries, dictators doing what's best for their country and not falling for the horse manure fake climate crisis, path to energy poverty schemes are actually doing what's best for their citizens and whats best for the planet.

Fossil fuels are the only TRUE green energy.....massively greening up the planet with beneficial CO2 thru the law of photosynthesis, which was never repealed. The leaders of  China, Russia, India and the Middle East are following this rock solid scientific principle, photosynthesis, while the "free world" ironically have the captured brains that never hear the truth about it and the enormous increase in food production for humans and animals taking place, with earth's booming biosphere because of the increase in CO2 and fossil fuels.

Solar and especially wind are fake green, anti environmental forms of energy wrecking the planet.

There are 2 legit reasons to cut back on fossil fuels.

1. Conserve natural resources

2. Save them for our children and future generations

Just another reminder, the greenhouse gas warming from increasing CO2 IS REAL.  Just not causing a climate crisis!

Ryan Maue@RyanMaue

I don't have time to explain this, but the globe is very warm compared to last 30-years at +1.00°F

Richard Siegmund Lindzen (born February 8, 1940) is an American atmospheric physicist known for his work in the dynamics of the middle atmosphere, atmospheric tides, and ozonephotochemistry. He has published more than 200 scientific papers and books. From 1983[1] until his retirement in 2013, he was Alfred P. Sloan Professor of Meteorology at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.[2] He was a lead author of Chapter 7, "Physical Climate Processes and Feedbacks," of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change's Third Assessment Report on climate change. He has disputed the scientific consensus on climate change[3] and criticizes what he has called "climate alarmism."[4]

Richard Lindzen Quotes

https://www.azquotes.com/author/30824-Richard_Lindzen

What historians will definitely wonder about in future centuries is how deeply flawed logic, obscured by shrewd and unrelenting propaganda, actually enabled a coalition of powerful special interests to convince nearly everyone in the world that CO2 from human industry was a dangerous, planet-destroying toxin. It will be remembered as the greatest mass delusion in the history of the world - that CO2, the life of plants, was considered for a time to be a deadly poison.                                                Richard Lindzen

According to any textbook on dynamic meteorology, one may reasonably conclude that in a warmer world, extratropical storminess and weather variability will actually decrease.

       Richard Lindzen

I think it's [concern about global warming] mainly just like little kids locking themselves in dark closets to see how much they can scare each other and themselves.

University released a study that says the U.S. can
“reach net-zero emissions of greenhouse gases by
2050 using existing technology and at costs aligned
with historical spending on energy.” The 300-page
report includes several scenarios, all of which
require huge increases in wind and solar energy, as
well as a massive expansion of high-voltage trans-
mission capacity.7 One scenario necessitates cover-
ing about 228,000 square miles with renewables.
That’s an area roughly equal to the size of the state
of California and Washington

Pandering to woke culture won’t save the planet

https://www.producer.com/opinion/pandering-to-woke-culture-wont-save-the-planet/

As Kisin explains in his presentation, for woke individuals their feelings matter more than the truth. Saving the planet from climate change has become a top fixation for many in the younger generation.

According to Kisin, Britain accounts for just two percent of global greenhouse gas emissions, so even if the country sunk into the sea and disappeared, emissions wouldn’t change much. Canadian emissions are typically pegged at 1.6 percent of the global total, so the same applies here.

If you fully buy into the theory of manmade global warming, the fate of the climate is in the hands of poor people in Asia and Latin America, who don’t care about global warming because they are poor and just struggling to feed themselves.

Where do you think climate change ranks in the list of priorities where hundreds of millions of people face malnutrition along with the diseases that stem from poor nourishment? Economic growth and lifting people out of poverty is an overriding goal even in totalitarian regimes like China.

Why are we still paying any attention to this scam that has been wrong on every prediction for 3 decades and continues to make up the same fairy tale stuff

What they said  is needed with their plan to kill fossil fuels, starting in 2019:

With 1 caveat, we have to accomplish this by only having the most developed countries making the CO2 cuts but not the other ones!

And we are supposedly doing this because of a climate crisis that has featured a 95% drop in deaths the past 100 years.

H.R. 1: Placeholder for Federal Energy Policy Reform (2024 elections ahead)

https://wattsupwiththat.com/2023/03/31/h-r-1-placeholder-for-federal-energy-policy-reform-2024-elections-ahead/

From MasterResource

By Robert Bradley Jr. — March 31, 2023

H.R. 1 can be characterized as pro-free market and deregulatory. But it is only a start. Free market reforms will ultimately require repealing dusty old federal laws from the New Deal (Public Utility Holding Company Act; Federal Power Act; Natural Gas Act) and laws before and after…. At the same time, numerous states should implement free market reforms by repealing and amending laws.

The Lower Energy Costs Act just passed the U.S. House of Representatives with bipartisan support. Senate confirmation is not expected to pass it, and the Biden Administration has promised a veto. But it is a start, a placeholder, for pro-consumer, pro-taxpayer, pro-freedom policy reform to come.

H.R. 1, in the words of its sponsors, “restores American energy independence by:

  • Increasing domestic energy production
  •
  • Reforming the permitting process for all industries
  •
  • Reversing anti-energy policies advanced by the Biden Administration
  •
  • Streamlining energy infrastructure and exports
  •
  • Boosting the production and processing of critical minerals

Final Comment

H.R. 1 can be characterized as pro-free market and deregulatory. But it is only a start. Free market reforms will ultimately require repealing dusty old federal laws from the New Deal (Public Utility Holding Company Act; Federal Power Act; Natural Gas Act;) and laws before and after. The U.S. Department of Energy needs to be abolished with its non-civilian functions transferred to other agencies. At the same time, numerous states should implement free market reforms by repealing and amending laws. And last but not least, the United States should withdraw from the (failed) Paris Climate Accord to reverse the international pressure for anti-energy policies.

Actually, no attention/coverage has occurred for this profound fundamental change in natural gas in storage the past 6+ months.

Note the blue line on the included graph. We went from a deficit vs the prior year of -349 BCF in early September 2022 to a surplus of 504 BCF on the March 23, 2023 report. +853 BCF added to storage compared to the previous year in just over 6 months! It’s very hard to comprehend how such  a thing is even possible without some sort of profound intervention to stimulate natural gas production by a powerful entity.

I contend that at least part of it was so that the United States can ramp up exports to Europe to replace the lost natural gas after Biden blew up the Russian gas line, Nordstream 2.

https://www.marketforum.com/forum/topic/93796/#94016

natural gas prices are down 80% from the highs last Summer with a glut in supply and over production……..until exports to Europe this year increase the demand base and soak up the over production.

Here’s the 1 year price chart showing the incredible plunge lower because of the record production/supplies gushing in the last 6+ months.
