The second anniversary of one of America's "darkest days" will be marked by a contradiction.
In the past year, Americans were presented with a fuller and more complete understanding of the violence that erupted at the U.S. Capitol on Jan. 6, 2021. Specifically, it was revealed in testimony by overwhelmingly Republican, White House and Trump administration officials that the attack was part of a multifaceted effort by former President Donald Trump, a circle of acolytes and extremist groups to overturn the results of an election that had been verified as accurate and ruled lawful in scores of court challengers.
The findings were presented to the public throughout 2022 by a congressional investigation that lifted the veil on the final months of the Trump presidency. In 10 televised hearings, a 150-page executive summary of its conclusions and an 800-plus-page report, the panel debunked the initial belief the riot on Capitol Hill was simply a hot-headed protest.
Many Americans appear to have been paying attention. An NPR/PBS NewsHour/Marist poll released in November found that 81% of those surveyed believe the country's democracy is under a "serious threat."
The overwhelming consensus registered by the poll is stunning, but that the question itself is part of a survey of American opinion, along with staples like the economy, social issues and foreign policy, is shocking in itself. And so is the fact that even though the violence at the U.S. Capitol played out on national and global television and online media that day, many Americans appear divided on their perception of the source of the threat itself.
Therein lies the paradox. Americans condemn the violence, but bitterly disagree on why it happened.
When pollsters queried deeper, by asking which party poses the bigger menace, respondents split with 42% pointing the finger at Democrats, 41% blaming Republicans and 8% casting a pox on both houses.
“Americans agree that our democracy is threatened but strongly split along party lines as to the causes,” said Lee M. Miringoff, director of the Marist College Institute for Public Opinion, in a statement accompanying the poll.
The Marist poll, however, is far from the only survey conducted over the past year that found many Americans fearing for the state of the country's bedrock political system while simultaneously divided on why they believe there is peril.

The huge agreement of 81% about our democracy being threatened is actually a huge disagreement.
The reason is that people from the right believe that it's the left which is causing the entire threat. People on the left politically are just as convinced that its the right causing the entire threat.
It's actually telling. Peoples views are mostly based on the messages that they get from their political sources, who tell them what to believe and manufacture messages that state things that people who affiliate with that political side WANT TO believe.
The best example is the 10s of millions from the far right who wanted to believe that Donald Trump won the election in 2020. Trump and other deceivers from the far right, like Fox in the evening, saw this as a golden opportunity to hijack the brains of people that wanted Trump to win.
Tell people what they want to hear/read and believe in and they WILL NOT fact check it.
Critical thinking, very sadly is becoming a long lost mentality in the age of the internet/media which offers so many different biased sources and echo chambers.
People go to the sources that share their ideologies and avoid the ones that tell them things they don't want to hear. The truth is secondary.
This is increasing the political divide and decreasing the motivation to try to understand the views of anybody that disagrees with them.

To celebrate the anniversary of Jan 6, 2021, Tucker went into his delusional Ray Epps and the FBI caused the Insurrection screed again.
According to him it wasn't Donald Trump that caused the Insurrection, it was this guy, Ray Epps that was planted in the crowd by the FBI and convinced the crowd to break into the building.
I watch different stations to hear different views.
People that don't watch Fox may not be aware of this loony conspiracy theory or believe that somebody would actually broadcast such a retarded thing repeatedly and have millions of people convinced this happened.
If there ever was proof that people's critical thinking and intelligence can be stolen away by charismatic or convincing sounding political commentators...........this is it!

Keep in mind, Ray Epps is one of the only people caught on camera that day encouraging others to break the law. He's one of the only ones and yet he's never been charged and the January 6 Committee was on his side.
Did he talk about January 6 before it happened with any employee of the U.S. government? We don't know. We do know that two years after January 6, long after an awful lot of other people have gone to jail for walking around the Capitol building, Ray Epps is still a free man. He's never been charged, much less imprisoned in solitary confinement like so many others. Why is that?
Well, let's just stop lying. At this point, it's pretty obvious why that is. But of course, they're still lying about it.

Ted Cruz KNOWS 100% that the FBI cannot answer those questions about an active investigation because of legal and procedure protocol that has always been in place by the FBI. It applies to EVERY investigation.
So Cruz prepares a bunch of questions that he knows the FBI will not be able to answer for that legit reason and gives a fake reason for their response.........."because they are hiding things related to the investigation and those things are what I'm telling you happened".

When they need an excuse to not answer they plainly lie "on advice from council or on orders from superiors and because there is an on going investigation I cannot answer" Hell Stryuck used that excuse a thousand times in just the last 2 years. The lady Cruz was talking never once used that lie. She plainly said "I do not know that party" or I know next to nothing or I know very little....she never once that I recall mention an investigation...why? you say. A huge problem here, regarding this specific topic is dishonest republicans, Fox in the evening and others taking something with a huge grain of truth as shown above and applying it to every time the FBI is involved in anything where republicans committed crimes and putting blame on a republican hating FBI that's always corrupt and always out to get republicans.
In every story, republicans become victims of FBI corruption or FBI cover ups.
This is 100% indisputably what Ted Cruz is doing. I know that you are unable to see that.
The difference between you and me on this, mcfarm is that I let the empirical data and authentic facts/evidence lead me to the objective truths.....and sometimes that shows the FBI acted badly. Sometimes not.
