Donald Trump compared to George Washington

Donald Trump constantly compares himself to George Washington, Abraham Lincoln(Honest Abe) and Ronald Reagan(that he claims falsely to have liked him-despite the fact of the opposite being the truth back in the 1980's when Donald Trump was a democrat).

With our nations 250th birthday being here, lets do an objective analysis to see how Donald Trump actually compares to George Washington.

Remember the WWJD(What Would Jesus Do)  bracelets?

Let's use a similar mentality with George Washington, our nations father and apply the question. WWGD? (What Would George Do)?  to the many actions and words of our current president,  Donald Trump since he so desperately wants us to believe they belong next to each other in history.

We all know the "story" that was told about George Washington chopping down the cherry tree as a child and admitting to doing it afterwards, despite getting into trouble for it because honesty and integrity mattered the most to him and those that believed in him.

Turns out that this story was made up but it was made up to illustrate the importance of honesty in the days of George Washington. Honestly for our president. Honesty for our politicians.

How does Donald Trump match up?

False or misleading statements by Donald Trump

Fact-checkers from The Washington Post[1] (top, monthly), the Toronto Star[2] and CNN[3][4] (bottom, weekly) compiled data on "false or misleading claims" and "false claims", respectively. The peaks corresponded in late 2018 to the midterm elections, in late 2019 to his impeachment inquiry, and in late 2020 to the presidential election. The Post reported 30,573 false or misleading claims in four years,[1] an average of more than 20.9 per day.

George Washington was known in the cherry tree story to say "I cannot tell a lie!"

Donald Trump is shown above as "He cannot tell the TRUTH" which is the diametrically opposed polar opposite of this key character trait that makes George Washington one of our most respected presidents.

So the answer to  WWGD?, is the opposite of what Donald Trump does.

George Washington is known as our nations greatest general. Leading our county's first military.

The stories, accomplishments, leadership skills, brilliant strategies and victories fill many history books and he deserves this recognition. His military career also featured plenty of painful losses and lessons that he learned.

The Military Leadership of George Washington

++++++++++

Again, there are many books filled with the details of his incredibly vast military service to this country, especially as the top general.

How about Donald Trump's military service?

Donald Trump avoided the military draft 5 times, but it wasn't uncommon for young men from influential families to do so during the Vietnam War

https://www.businessinsider.com/donald-trump-avoided-the-military-draft-which-was-common-at-the-time-vietnam-war-2018-12

+++++++++++++++++

Let's be honest here. The Vietnam War was a completely different deal than what George Washington faced. Muhammed Ali is considered a hero for refusing to be drafted and using his position to speak out against the ethical violations of the Vietnam War at tremendous cost to his career(he could have been drafted and accepted a non battlefield position but refused because " I ain't got no quarrel with those Viet Cong").

Regardless, Donald Trump, unlike so many of our patriotic presidents that served bravely in  our military, many risking their lives, instead skipped out on military service using fake bone spurs.

However, MUCH, MUCH worse, Donald Trump had the audacity to attack a decorated war hero with personal attacks for his life risking, dedication and service in the military.

Disagree with John McCain all you want but NEVER denigrate his patriotic service to the US military!!!

The awful reality that Donald Trump’s repeated attacks on John McCain prove

WWGD?

George Washington did the diametrically opposed polar opposite of what Donald Trump did in this realm too.

Then, after profoundly miscalculating, Donald Trump lost control of the Strait of Hormuz and caused a global energy crisis. He ended up having to grant Iran their wish list to get the Strait open again. One of the most embarrassing strategic military blunders in US history AND IT'S NOT OVER YET because Donald Trump has no clue about how to get out of this and Iran has him by the balls!

How about George Washington?  Let's just use this example to demonstrate the stark contrast.

American Revolutionary War

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/American_Revolutionary_War

The American Revolutionary War (April 19, 1775 – September 3, 1783), also known as the Revolutionary War or American War of Independence or simply the American Revolution, was the armed conflict that comprised the final eight years of the broader American Revolution, in which American Patriot forces organized as the Continental Army and commanded by George Washington defeated the British Army. The conflict was fought in North America, the Caribbean, and the Atlantic Ocean. The war's outcome seemed uncertain for most of the war, but Washington and the Continental Army's decisive victory in the Siege of Yorktown in 1781 led King George III and the Kingdom of Great Britain to negotiate an end to the war. In 1783, in the Treaty of Paris, the British monarchy acknowledged the independence of the Thirteen Colonies, leading to the establishment of the United States as an independent and sovereign nation.

+++++++++++++

George Washington clearly demonstrated an America First policy in every way, shape and form in order to create a United States.

Donald Trump started an unproved, unjustified illegal war to FOLLOW THE LEADER OF A FOREIGN country and because he thought it would make himself an historical legend with an easy military victory by ABUSING OUR MILITARY AND SOLDIERS (most powerful in the world) for his personal agenda.

++++++++++++++++++++++

George Washington served on the battlefields with his soldiers. He respected them and used coherent planning and brilliant strategies that were NOT based on making George Washington a hero or historical legend.

George Washington's objective was the diametrically opposed, polar opposite of this. In fact, this defines the difference between these 2 presidents like no other.

George Washington's objective, which he accomplished was to FREE us from the colonialism of England. Donald Trump's objectives are to perpetrate the same colonialism on other countries that the United States became a nation BY DEFEATING!!!!

Since George Washington won both his presidential elections  by landslides, we just have to assume that he would have conceded a loss with grace like EVERY SINGLE presidential election loser did in history(even Al Gore in 2000 who suffered the closest/toughest loss in history!).

Until Hillary Clinton, they conceded. Clinton and her minions blamed her loss on Trump colluding with Russia and got Jill Stein of the Green Party to do all her dirty work, with appeals and recounts. Then they attempted to discredit the Trump win with the Mueller Witch hunt for 2.5 years. Most of their convictions were CREATED By the investigation and there was no evidence that Donald Trump did anything wrong. Russia DID meddle in our 2016 election. Also in 2012, 2008, 2004, etc. We meddle in more countries elections, by far compared to those that meddle in ours! THIS REALLY HAPPENED!!!

Roosevelt was reelected to third and fourth terms in the 1940s, Congress proposed the 22nd Amendment, constitutionally limiting the president to two terms. Trump earned more than $2.2bn last year. Experts say this extraordinary haul is only part of the story

https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2026/jul/01/trump-earnings-as-president

What we do know is that Trump earned the equivalent of about $200 an hour as president during a 40-hour work week – while earning the equivalent of about $1.1m an hour from his private businesses during that same work week.

And unlike his real estate ventures, where much of the income reflects increasing asset values, much of the crypto income comes from trading a digital asset to someone and receiving cash in return, or money pocketed from investments.

“Most of what is reported on his financial disclosure is essentially the cash that is being paid to him for licensing agreements, and his portion of trading fees and stuff like that, which is primarily denominated in dollars,” said Molly White, a cryptocurrency researcher and anticorruption activist who has been closely tracking the influence of technology spending on politics.

George Washington become a legend...from him actually earning it.

All the monuments, streets, cities and even a state named "Washington" in honor of our first president were based entirely on honoring this legit. historical legend that devoted his life to making this country great via his legit. words and BRAVE, brilliant ACTIONS.

He didn't rename everything after himself during his lifetime, like Donald Trump does(often illegally) abusing his power as president.

He didn't appoint and hire men that pledged allegiance and adulated only him.

He didn't break hundreds of laws. He was part of making good laws and a Constitution that Donald Trump violates constantly to serve his personal, self serving agenda.

He did the opposite of intentionally causing an insurrection in his name to overturn the most proven secure presidential election in history.

He did the opposite of betraying his country to serve another country (Israel-Netanyahu) for his self serving agenda.

Part of George Washington's legacy was rooted in TELLING THE TRUTH.  Donald Trump is the president that has told more lies than every president before him..........all added together.

Donald Trump's power comes from those lies, which allowed his party to take both houses in Congress, where they enable and support him based entirely on protecting their own party, regardless of how much damage it's causing to America and Americans.

Television didn't exist in George Washington's life but we can bet, based on his character and behavior that he wouldn't have called everything and everybody that disagreed with him "Fake news". And a station like Fox news, which steals the intelligence of a religious cult, called MAGA with 40 million members,  telling them things they wish were true to support their robust, market leading ratings in the evening........WOULD NOT EXIST!

George Washington was the president that played the strongest role in history for the United States when it was moving forward at the greatest rate in history.

Donald Trump is the current president CAUSING the United States to move in the exact opposite/wrong direction. Opposing the wonderful agenda that George Washington stood for, while escalating himself in self deluded fashion to being a peer of George Washington and successfully selling his snake oil as the president of record for being the King of charlatan's to 40 million Americans his party(that fears his power over them) and so colludes with his self serving agenda.

One of the worst, overlooked elements to this war in Iran is what Donald Trump is doing to our military. These are human beings that have families at home. They are serving him bravely because of their duty and commitment to the United States of America. He's abusing them like pawns for his unjustified, extremely UNPOPULAR war and self serving agenda.

Our country's first president and brilliant military leader is turning over in his grave!

WWGD?

AI Overview

George Washington treated his army as a demanding but deeply committed leader who shared their physical hardships. While he enforced strict discipline to forge a professional force, he protected his troops from local exploitation, prioritized their health, and led from the front lines to earn their unwavering loyalty. Washington managed his military forces through several distinct leadership philosophies:
  • Leading by Example: Throughout the war, he stayed with his men in the "tented field," avoiding lavish quarters and going home to Mount Vernon only twice during the entire conflict.
  • Strict Discipline & Justice: He implemented the Articles of War to maintain order, punishing desertion and mutiny, while also working to secure cash bonuses and postwar land grants to boost morale.
  • Protecting the Troops' Reputation: Unlike European armies of the era, Washington forbade looting and mandated that his soldiers pay Patriot farmers for goods (even if using promissory notes), preventing bitterness between the military and civilians.
  • Prioritizing Health: In 1777, recognizing that smallpox was decimating his ranks, Washington instituted the first mass immunization policy in U.S. history by mandating inoculations for all Continental soldiers.
  • Selective Respect: Forum discussions on Quora feature mixed opinions; some highlight Washington's courtesy and attention to soldier petitions, while others note that the respect he showed was often tailored to an officer's social status and potential usefulness to the cause.
If you'd like to explore this further, let me know if you want to focus on:
  • Washington's relationship with specific officers (like Alexander Hamilton or Marquis de Lafayette)
  • How he handled mutinies and unrest among the troops
  • The specific conditions at Valley Forge

George Washington's Great Challenge

https://www.americanrevolutioninstitute.org/george-washingtons-great-challenge/

Historical Context

George Washington’s great challenge was to bring discipline, order and unity to an army comprised of volunteers divided by region, class and culture. His troops came from many parts of America, which at the time was like coming together from distant countries; different customs and manners sometimes caused misunderstandings and conflict. These volunteers joined the common cause but understood the meaning of that common cause in very different ways.

Washington did not know if he could lead an amateur army against highly skilled British Regulars. His soldiers were unaccustomed to the rigorous training and harsh punishments experienced by European armies. In 1755, when Washington was 23 years old, he was appointed commander of the Virginia forces within the British army. In this role, he used disciplinary methods commonly found among European armies: irons, lashes, isolation, execution and more. He found these methods did not work well on soldiers of liberty. While European soldiers obediently executed orders without asking questions, soldiers who came to the American army as free men believed they had a choice to follow orders or not and believed they had a voice in what those orders ought to be. This caused constant frustration for Washington.

To further complicate Washington’s great challenge, the army was constantly in need of food and supplies, and Congress did not have the money to supply Washington’s requests for these items because it did not have the power to require states to pay taxes under the Articles of Confederation. Congress could only request that the sovereign states make donations. European armies in the field typically just took what they needed from local inhabitants; they also took what they wanted as looting was a common practice. Washington knew that stealing from Patriot farms and families would hurt the cause of liberty because it would cause bitterness and resentment among the people.  He forbade his soldiers to loot and required his soldiers to remit fair payment for goods, though payment was given in the form of congressional promissory notes that would only be paid in the event of American victory.

Donald Trump was gifted with the most powerful military in the world, the best military in the world  and look what he is doing to them!!!
