BTW, I don't have this explanation confirmed by any other sources so it's my speculative explanation based on understanding the business and past.

Now check this out: it appears that crude MAY have at 10:10PM ET either gone lock limit down (down 5%?) or perhaps trading was intentionally halted then:
Crude started trading again after 50 minutes and it immediately plunged another $1.70! Holy cow!! This is insane and we can now see it happening in realtime over the weekend thanks to this new exchange:

Just another item to add to the many dozens of impeachable items. When the House starts their impeachment investigation, the toughest thing will be deciding where to start and when/where to finish because an entity could spend years investigating all of Donald Trump's impeachable offenses, including many crimes, Constitution violating offenses and betraying the United States.
