Nobel Prize betting: What does the market tell us?

https://oddspedia.com/us/insights/features/nobel-peace-prize-odds-and-predictions

Betting markets have proven to be a great means of predicting outcomes for various events. Yes, typically we’re talking about Super Bowl odds or the World Cup in soccer, but the same applies when analysing the Grammy Awards odds and even the Nobel Prize odds.

There is currently a long list of potential candidates for the award this year (the official number of nominees is yet to be confirmed), but a quick at the betting data makes Nobel Prize 2025 predictions a little bit easier. Below is a list of some notable candidates to win this year’s award.

Name/OrganizationUS OddsImplied Probability
Donald Trump+26027.78%
Greta Thunberg+40020.00%
Julian Assange+70012.50%
David Attenborough+90010.00%
International Court of Justice (ICJ)+12007.69%
Nato+14006.67%
Elon Musk+40002.44%
Taylor Swift+80001.23%

+++++++++++++

This tells us much more about how the Nobel Prize has deteriorated from its original value for recognizing profound positive contributions to its current use as, SOMETIMES more of a political tool that recognizes blatantly unqualified people that serve a political purpose that can even be fraudulent.

#2 on the list above is the quintessential example. A complete no nothing climate activist/Marxist, spouting anti science about how we are killing the planet.  Blaming capitalism and telling us to follow the corrupt science, while contradicting the authentic science and observations of the planet massively greening up from the law of photosynthesis.

Her career was launched many years ago as a teenager as she was elevated to a climate super hero with her powerful handlers/promoters from the UN and elsewhere even arranging for her to speak to the US Congress on Earth Day 2021.

 Greta Thunberg to testify in Congress on Earth Day

The testimony will occur as President Joe Biden hosts a climate change summit with 40 world leaders.

https://www.politico.com/news/2021/04/16/greta-thunberg-congress-testimony-482410

+++++++++++++++

The absurdity of having a very charismatic, uneducated  teenager good at spouting junk science for the climate religion,  testify in front of Congress about the climate crisis instead of an actual climate scientist tells us exactly how this field has deteriorated into a fake climate crisis religion.

 Based on marketing schemes and motivated by the trillions in money that it makes for crony capitalism and political agendas NOT authentic science.

Greta narrowly missed winning the Nobel Prize in 2019 and 2020 from individuals that actually deserved getting it.

However, in 2025 she may actually have a legit cause........using her celebrity status and following, protesting against Israel's genocide. If that's what she was nominated for I would strongly support the reasoning for the 2025 Peace Prize, even if her persona for becoming famous was thru her fake climate crisis religion. Unlike the ones using her and that are exploiting this field for for personal enrichment and self serving agenda, there is no questions that Greta is extremely sincere and really does have a solid foundation of moral integrity in her heart.

Very unlike the powerful  gatekeepers that control this field and so often use her for their self serving interests.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Greta_Thunberg

Greta Tintin Eleonora Ernman Thunberg (Swedish pronunciation: [ˈɡrêːta ˈtʉ̂ːnbærj]; born 3 January 2003) is a Swedish climate and political activist initially known for challenging world leaders to take immediate action to mitigate the effects of climate change.[1][2][3][4]

Born in Stockholm, Thunberg's climate activism began when she persuaded her parents to adopt lifestyle choices that reduced her family's carbon footprint. In August 2018, aged 15, Thunberg began skipping school, vowing to remain out of school until after a Swedish election to attempt to influence the outcome. She protested outside the Swedish parliament where she called for stronger action on climate change by holding up a Skolstrejk för klimatet (School Strike for Climate) sign and handing out informational flyers.[5] After the election, Thunberg spoke in front of supporters, telling them to use phones to film her. She then said she would continue school striking for the climate every Friday until Sweden was in compliance with the Paris climate agreement.[6] Thunberg's youth and blunt speaking manner fueled her rise to the status of a global icon

++++++++++++++++

The description of how she got started is actually VERY dishonest, The truth is that her climate activist parents DECIDED TO GROOM AND USE HER FOR THEIR AGENDA and they had very powerful connections with a brilliant marketing scheme!!

A 17 year no nothing about science from Sweden isn't speaking in front of the US Congress because they decided to protest about climate change at the age of 15...........unless some extremely powerful gatekeepers (with a brilliant marketing scheme)  are in complete control of her itinerary and much of her coached messaging.

Again, Greta is completely sincere and cares dearly about humanity and all of her causes, which is why she's been protesting Israel's genocide.

However, as an independent, objective atmospheric science and practicing, fellow environmentalist, she was fed fake climate science religion by her parents and handlers as a child and that's all she knows. She is incapable of seeing the  entire picture based on authentic science.

++++++++++++++=

I've been unable to even find her nomination for the Nobel Prize in 2025 even though the betting odds place her in 2nd place.

One of her most famous, loony tunes quotes was this:

To help you better understand why people feel their intelligence is being insulted when Greta makes an appearance as an expert on anything, these are some of her words:

Greta: "You have stolen my dreams and my childhood with your empty words. And yet I'm one of the lucky ones. People are suffering. People are dying.

Entire ecosystems are collapsing. We are in the beginning of a mass extinction, and all you can talk about is money, and fairy tales of eternal economic growth. How dare you!"

When Gore received this award in 2007, it was a complete joke:

One of my favorites exposing Nye and Gore as climate charlatans.

Al Gore and Bill Nye falsify their global-warming experiment

https://www.johnlocke.org/al-gore-and-bill-nye-falsify-their-global-warming-experiment/

In doing science, you’re supposed to document the steps of an experiment meticulously so that someone can perform the same experiment to see if they get identical results.

As science blogger Anthony Watts shows in incredible detail, an experiment touted in Al Gore’s “Climate 101” video seems to be a total fraud. I encourage anyone who doubts this result to watch all the videos in the blog post. You’ll come to the same inescapable conclusion that Gore and Bill Nye “The Science Guy” faked their results and used editing rather than scientific rigor to reach the conclusions they show to the reader:

Ironically,

Trumps nomination for the Nobel Prize from another source has been WITHDRAWN because of his complete failure:

Trump’s Nobel Peace Prize nomination withdrawn

https://www.yahoo.com/news/trump-nobel-peace-prize-nomination-191202113.html

Donald Trump’s Nobel Peace Prize nomination has been withdrawn by a senior Ukraine politician who accused the US president of appeasing Vladimir Putin.

Oleksandr Merezhko, chairman of Ukraine’s foreign affairs committee, said he had lost “any kind of faith” in Mr Trump’s ability to end the war.

He nominated Mr Trump in late 2024, revealing to The Telegraph that he believed it would encourage the president-elect to follow through on a pledge to end the war.

“This appeasement of aggression encourages Putin to continue the attack. Trump just turns a blind eye to all of it,” Mr Merezhko said in a letter to the Nobel committee.

“I lost any kind of faith that Trump will deliver in any of his promises.

Issa Nominates President Trump for Nobel Peace Prize

“Not since Ronald Reagan has an American president better represented the national resolve of peace through strength or the fundamental case for a world without war. Remarkably, it was the 2024 election of Donald Trump – more than 10 weeks before his swearing in – that tangibly kickstarted the cause of peace in numerous regions of the world, and we are already seeing the benefits. I hope the Committee takes note of these extraordinary times and recognizes that President Trump ideally represents what the Nobel Peace Prize should stand for.”

At the absolute top of the list, the need for peace is by far the greatest in the Gaza strip.

Instead of peace, Trump has done the diametrically opposed, polar opposite by taking the side of the psychopath committing a horrific genocide, while keeping his shipments of huge bombs coming to kill people and sustain the 1 sided war.

Israel vs innocent Gazans/Palestinians, mostly children and women:  Trump is profoundly aligned with the side of evil and against the side of good,  justice/the innocent and humanity.

Greta is full of doo doo with her climate religion but at least she is not a morally bankrupt, self serving politician that imposes a horrific genocide with impunity and justifies it with completely ludicrous, snake oil rhetoric......Israel "defending itself" and if you disagree, you are antisemitic!!

Netanyahu, drunken on  his unlimited power, using US bombs to kill people with no accountability, exploited the current environment in order to expand his agenda for bombing Iran, along with a continuation of using the United States to accomplish his diabolical agenda and objectives.

President Trump has been putty in his hands as President Trump greatly contributes to the genocide/war in Gaza well before the bombing in Iran.  NOT trying to stop it but assisting the genocide. Waaaaay too much blood is on President's Trump's hands for doing this for him to ever deserve the Nobel Peace Prize.

Now, with the DIRECT assistance of  the US(actually doing the bombing this time-not just providing the bombs and pretending to be neutral) see how easy it was to violate international laws and win the war in Iran?

The man above is responsible for ALL OF IT.  And he has captured our presidents brain and turned him into a Netanyahu puppet instead of a President of the United States representing the best interests of the citizens of the United States.

America First?

We all just saw the real Donald Trump, regarding America First.

Instead, for self serving reasons in his pathologically thinking, delusions of grandeur brain, he wants to be part of Netanyahu's completely crushing victories in the Middle East.

Instead of being the only person/country to STOP  the genocide in Gaza, he's elected to be the KEY PART OF IT because of his ego and deranged thinking.

Using our tax dollars for bombs to kill innocent people. Making all Americans part of it. He just made us all targets by his direct bombing of Iran on Saturday.

How is that America First?

Pop culture’s dark obsession with Charles Manson – from Guns N’ Roses to Mad Men

The cult leader has inspired thoughtful works of art and literary novels but is more often used as a hackneyed shortcut to outrage. Why the fascination with a white supremacist and misogynist who masterminded the murder of seven people?

Politicians' dark personalities can deepen political divisions

https://phys.org/news/2025-04-politicians-dark-personalities-deepen-political.html

Politicians who score high on the so-called Dark Triad—narcissism (excessive self-focus), psychopathy (emotional coldness and lack of empathy), and Machiavellianism (a tendency toward manipulation and deception)—are associated with greater hostility toward among their followers.

Polarization from within

The researchers show that dark traits have an effect when voters feel ideologically close to the politician in question. The stronger the identification, the more likely supporters are to adopt hostile stances.

"Machiavellian politicians in particular—strategic, manipulative, goal-driven—appear to be catalysts for affective polarization: they deepen emotional divides between their supporters and others," explains Alessandro Nai, researcher at the UvA.

Remarkably, the personality traits of political opponents have little to no effect on the degree of polarization.

Nai said, "We know today that voters tend to take cues from politicians they feel close to, and are more likely to ignore messages from politicians they disagree with. It is thus our own politicians who make us angrier, fuel hostile thinking towards others, and contribute to affective polarization. And this can have dramatic consequences."

Trump's biggest driving force, as shown repeatedly by his decisions is Donald Trump.

               He is most concerned about actions to get the Nobel Peace Prize.

Though he is an authoritarian, recklessly abusing his powers as president of the United , he is manipulated by foreign powers in foreign affairs and entities that know how to manipulate him.

How we're responding to the war in Gaza

An unprecedented crisis is unfolding in Gaza, where a punishing siege and decimated health system have fueled a humanitarian catastrophe.

https://www.doctorswithoutborders.org/latest/our-response-israel-gaza-war

Twenty-one months of war have destroyed thousands of lives in Gaza, leaving much of the Strip in ruins and humanitarian needs more dire than ever.

Since the start of the war in October 2023, more than 57,000 Palestinians have been killed in Gaza, more than 137,000 wounded, and thousands are estimated to be buried under the wreckage. Over 1.9 million people—90 percent of the entire population—have been forcibly displaced, often many times. Water and food are still severely limited, essential supplies like fuel and electricity are scant, and as the threat of disease and hunger continues, lifesaving health care remains inaccessible.

Doctors Without Borders/Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) teams are witnessing firsthand how this war has turned Gaza's chronic humanitarian crisis into a catastrophe.

Politicians, who are among the world's foremost prevaricators, have their own competitions, including speeches, television and radio commercials, so-called debates, elections, and just plain everyday conversations. And so they have been excluded from competing in the Liars' Club's contests since the Club first announced a winner at the end of 1929.

Map of countries that have nominated Donald Trump for Nobel Peace Prize

What People Are Saying

President Donald Trump said: "I've stopped six wars—I'm averaging about a war a month."

White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt said: "It is well past time that President Trump was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize."

John Bolton, former national security adviser to Trump, said in an interview on ABC: "I don't think what [Trump] has done materially changes the situations in any of those circumstances or several others he's mentioned … I think what Trump has done is make it clear that he wants a Nobel Peace Prize more than anything else. And the way to his heart, as Pakistani chief of staff [Asim] Munir found and Netanyahu found, is offer to nominate him."

+++++++++++++++++++++

Bingo from Bolton!

Trump winning would further solidify the lack of authenticity and credibility that this once prestigious award carries

For instance, Obama won the award in 2009, just months after he took office and hadn't done anything yet. The committee, under scrutiny responded that they were awarding it to him for things that "HE WAS GOING TO DO" It was a bribe to try to impact his decision making. That spoke volumes for the mentality of the 5 committee members.

In 2025, like in previous years the members of the committee are strongly aligned with NATO(and the United Nations). Trump knows this and has suddenly flipped on his tune about NATO this year.  Imagine that! Trump flipping a position because he thinks that it will benefit him personally.

NATO chief says allies united ahead of Trump-Putin talks in Alaska

I'm still hopeful that Trump can end the war in Ukraine(which is why I voted for him) despite him blowing it because of his big mouth and bad tactics so far in 2025.

However, he does have the most power for ending the war in Gaza. This would clearly justify him getting the Nobel Peace Prize!

I'll be optimistic and assign a 50% guess that he will do this.

Today's news below, makes Trump's actions and words, trying to get this award even more hilarious and absurd!

Trump seeks to rebrand the Department of Defense as the Department of War

https://apnews.com/article/donald-trump-hegseth-department-of-war-pentagon-067d89413670394c4d2149519dcb09c3

The result was the removal and review of hundreds of books in the military academies, which ended up including titles on the Holocaust and a Maya Angelou memoir. It also resulted in the removal off thousands of websites honoring contributions by women and minority groups.

“I think the president and the secretary have been very clear on this — that anybody that says in the Department of Defense that diversity is our strength is, is frankly, incorrect,” Pentagon spokesman Sean Parnell told reporters in March.

Hegseth has also presided over the removal of all transgender troops from the military following an executive order from Trump through a process that some have described as “dehumanizing” or “open cruelty.”

Trump gets golf prize, but no Nobel Peace Prize

https://thehill.com/opinion/white-house/5480545-trump-nobel-peace-prize-lobbying/

Steve Witkoff, President Trump’s special Middle East envoy, may be in trouble. As widely reported, he has been harshly criticized on foreign policy as in-over-his-head. He is running around the world, meeting with foreign leaders and making claims that never materialize, including one about a ceasefire in Ukraine.

But Witkoff is good at one thing: He knows better than anybody else how to butter up Trump. At last week’s embarrassing three-hour Cabinet meeting — where, one by one, Cabinet secretaries took turns telling Trump how great he is — Witkoff took the cake.

“There’s only one thing I wish for,” he told Trump, “that the Nobel Committee finally gets its act together and realizes you are the single finest candidate since this award was ever talked about.”

Greater than Nelson Mandela, Mother Teresa, the Dalai Lama, Shimon Peres, Anwar Sadat, Yitzhak Rabin, Martin Luther King, Jr., and Teddy Roosevelt? That’s a little over the top, perhaps — but it’s exactly what Donald Trump wanted to hear. In fact, nobody has been lobbying harder than Trump himself for Trump to get the 2025 Nobel Peace Prize when the winners are announced next month.

In August, Trump personally called Norway’s Finance Minister Jens Stoltenberg to demand he be given the prestigious award. On Aug. 19, the morning after meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, Trump told “Fox and Friends” that he deserved the Nobel Peace Prize because “I’ve solved seven wars. We ended seven wars.”

I'll repeat something mentioned previously. The award is often given to people that deserve it and just as often given to people as a bribe to get that person on board with the Nobel Committee(United Nations) agenda.

President Obama and ex VP Gore are perfect examples.

I'm strongly on board with most of the UN's mission to make the world a better place for less fortunate people, especially those most in need.  However, their fake climate crisis being used as a method to achieve that objective is stealing people's scientific intelligence for their agenda and I speak out against that part of it.

Trump's strategy to do a 180 degree change in position in Ukraine, knowing that's what the Nobel Peace Prize committee wants is paying off.

Greta Thunberg below, along with Zelensky are also jokes but the rest are EXTREMELY deserving of this award and it would be a shame if a joke got it, based on politics and other factors, instead, like what happened with Al Gore-2007 and Barrack Obama-2009.

Nobel Peace Prize Odds: No Win For Trump Despite Holding Position As Odds-On Favourite

https://oddspedia.com/insights/features/nobel-peace-prize-odds-and-predictions

  The Nobel Peace Prize has been awarded and in true Nobel style this year’s winner wasn’t the one many were expecting. Our new peace prize laureate is María Corina Machado, a worthy winner but not the bookies’ pick!

+++++++++++++++=

What this means:

1. This award as has been the case much of the time the past 2+ decades does not go to the person most deserving because its often very political(as when Gore and Obama won it after doing...............NOTHING for peace but pushing a fake climate crisis narrative. So many, MANY worthy individuals and organizations were overlooked.

2. People were wasting their money by betting on this.

3. No, Trump did not deserve this award as much as many hundreds of other people on the list that have devoted their lives to making the world a better place by serving others RESPECTFULLY and humbly while,  being authentic humanitarians and unselfish human beings. Put an ANTI in front of those qualities and it defines President Trump.

I don't hate President Trump but admit that I was hoping he would not get this award because it meant that a better person did not get it.

Congrats to Maria Corina Machado!

Not on my top 20 list but she's a good person sincerely helping to advance democracy and has done some wonderful things in her past.

Seriously, it appears that Trump, true to who he is as a person, lashed out in anger by using his favorite tactic when he is upset (he's levied a 50% tariff on India for not agreeing that he stopped a war between them and Pakistan and a 50% tariff on Brazil because he's mad about how they treated his far right friend) .

Head of Nobel Peace Prize tries to justify not honoring Trump with award

https://nypost.com/2025/10/10/world-news/nobel-peace-prize-head-tries-to-justify-not-giving-trump-award/

++++++++++

"tries to justify" ?????

For sure, Donald Trump pushing hard all year for Donald Trump to get this award brought more attention to it than any year in history.

Question: How many of the previous winners, spent the year campaigning to convince people that they deserved the Nobel Peace Prize?

Answer: ZERO

People that deserve this award don't put themselves and recognition ahead of their altruistic causes!

    Back to the actual winner.

Seems to be a good person that has a history of doing good things to help others at risk to herself. Congrats to her despite many others more deserving.

In 1992, Machado—a mother of three children—started Fundación Atenea (Atenea Foundation), a foundation using private donations to care for orphaned and delinquent Caracas street children; she also served as chair of the Opportunitas Foundation.[17][18] After working in the auto industry in Valencia, she moved to Caracas in 1993.[14] Because of her role in Súmate, Machado left the foundation so that it would not be politicized.

The Inspira América Foundation, headed by Marcell Felipe, joined with the rectors of four U.S. universities on 16 August 2024 to promote the nomination of Machado for the Nobel Peace Prize, highlighting her "tireless fight for peace in Venezuela and the world" as "a fair recognition of a person who has dedicated almost her entire life to the fight for peace and the liberation" of Venezuela.[152][153]

On 10 October, Machado was awarded the 2025 Nobel Peace Prize "for her tireless work promoting democratic rights for the people of Venezuela and for her struggle to achieve a just and peaceful transition from dictatorship to democracy".[7] On X, Machado dedicated the prize to the "suffering people of Venezuela" and "President Trump for his decisive support of our cause

Larry,

Great point. If the peace holds in Gaza (I'm hopeful but skeptical) he'll have 1 legit claim to go with numerous made up stuff.

Being Donald Trump, he'll be most concerned with campaigning for Donald Trump to win this award, which is the diametrically opposed, polar opposite persona of everybody that won it in the past during the key time frame for consideration.

Also, after seeing who won this year, I was reminded of the political reasons for Gore-2007 and Obama-2009 to win this award tied to their push of the fake climate crisis narrative.

Nobel Peace Prize 2007

https://www.nobelprize.org/prizes/peace/2007/summary/

The Nobel Peace Prize 2007 was awarded jointly to Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) and Albert Arnold (Al) Gore  Jr. "for their efforts to build up and disseminate greater knowledge about man-made climate change, and to lay the foundations for the measures that are needed to counteract such change"

++++++++++++++

As you know better than anybody, Donald Trump has the extreme OPPOSITE position as Al Gore does. In fact, in front of the UN last month he went on an embarrassing, unhinged tirade about he climate crisis  being the biggest fraud perpetrated on people in history.

This is the thing that I agree with him most about but I would prefer to have people like him representing the other side because he besmirches the authentic "skeptics" position with his lack of understanding of the actual science  along with his offensive way of communicating it.

Anyway, assuming the Nobel Committee still has a similar position and their past behavior,  awarding those who push what Trump claims is the greatest fraud in history, it seems doubtful that Trump could ever win from just that disqualifying fact alone.
