GOP Primary Results

Several election deniers backed by Trump won their primaries last night.  Some were put over the top by Democratic voters crossing over to vote for them hoping they would be easier to defeat in November.  I think that is a dangerous game to play.  Be careful what you wish for....

Putting people in positions of power who don't believe in democracy could be the beginning of the end of democracy.

Great point and I agree joj. This is pretty scary.

It seems to be happening in slow motion right in front of us and in a way that our minds accept as being the "new normal" because it's not much different than yesterday's normal.

But if you compare it to the normal of a decade ago, and then see that it's NOT a phase or impulsive reaction to an event but a well defined pattern defining a trend and change.......it's like Holy ____.

The only way to avoid the severe consequences is to reverse the trend.

Unfortunately, the powerful technology and delivery of messages in society today has changed and its almost entirely responsible for creating some DISinformation monsters.

Once somebody believes something, it's almost impossible to get them to change their mind because they process all new information to line up with what they think they know.

People, by the nature of human beings, will seek out news that reinforces what they want to believe.

People delivering messages are extremely well aware of this and manufacture messages and fake realities to trick people to believe things with convincing sounding DISinfomation and conspiracy theories that line up with what people WANT TO BELIEVE.

This gets them in the door of people's mind without being fact checked by a mind not skeptical since it really wants to believe.

Then, they repeat it enough times  that the mind is completely convinced by those same sources and processes all new information accordingly.........and permanently.....rejecting anything and everything that contradicts what that mind considers its well defined belief system.

And Google has information that will tell you anything that you want to believe. Almost nobody goes to Google to look for reasons that tell them why they might be wrong.

Take for instance a situation where 2 sides strongly disagree with each other.  if 50% of the fresh/new information that comes out independently  lines up with 1 side and 50% comes out lining up with the other sides........instead of people seeing the other side.....it will usually cause them to embrace the 50% that supports what they think that they know and reject the other 50% because it contradicts what they think that they know.

This principle is impacting everybody as they access information sources that are a million times more powerful than a century ago delivering it to them all day long on their electronic devices.

And it happened 1 day at a time and defines the new normal.

Some people here hate the topic of this thread........because it' so true.

it is looking more and more like 2024 will be a rematch of biden and trump.   most people do not want biden to run again.  and most people do not want trump to run again.   so strange.

you can't make this stuff up.

Thanks bear,

What makes you think that Biden will be able to run in 2024.

Even if he was physically/mentally capable, he has extremely low ratings, so there are 2 extreme negatives for him to be the guy in 2024.

The only way that he could win is if Trump runs.

I keep thinking that the R's will suddenly wake up and shun Trump  but instead,   half of them use Biden being bad as justification for why Trump is good and pretend that what happened..........really didn't happen. It's all made up by TDS people in their minds.

Biden Job Approval Dips to New Low

Biden Sixth-Quarter Average Is Lowest for an Elected President

Biden's sixth quarter in office, spanning April 20 through July 19, recently ended. During this time, an average of 40% of Americans approved of the job he was doing as president. No president elected to his first term has had a lower sixth-quarter average than Biden, although Jimmy Carter's and Donald Trump's ratings were only slightly better, at 42%. Barack Obama, Bill Clinton and Ronald Reagan also averaged below majority approval.
