I decided to make a separate thread for James Talarico due to:
-his uniqueness of being a devout and proud Christian Democrat who quotes the Bible often
-the combo of his charisma, perceived sincerity, Norman Vincent Peale-ish level of positive thinking, and high energy youth (he’s only 37)
-his chances of being the first Dem to win a statewide TX race since 1988 increased when AG Paxton, who’s riddled with a not so good background (putting it mildly) and thus has the opposite look to Talarico, won the GOP Primary.
-his winning in Nov will be almost a necessity for the Dems to get to 52 seats in the Senate in Nov. note that I said 52 because Dem Senator Fetterman is largely a RINO these days.
Oh the irony! I have no words (see below). I predict a very nasty reaction to him from the hypocritical MAGA wing of the GOP. They treat the horribly immoral and unethical DT like a Messiah and yet they call Talarico a fake Christian?!? Are people really that stupid to fall for this extreme double standard?
I predict with very high confidence that DT is going to make multiple nasty posts about Talarico between now and Nov. Mark my words…5/27/26!

Talarico communicates extraordinarily well but he's anything but a fake. He sounds VERY credible and likeable. His opponent, appears to be one of the most, if not THE most corrupt politician(outside of Donald Trump) in history.
Not just the word "corrupt" but the facts based on authentic evidence corrupt.

Hey Mike,
Lawrence gave him a good interview. I agree strongly with Talarico’s refreshing general positive message and the idea of not letting billionaires have so much power. He’s also against Christian nationalism despite his being a devout Christian as he strongly believes in separation of church and state. I will, of course, be strongly rooting for him over the very corrupt and already impeached (by Republicans!) Paxton.
I did notice that JT avoided answering all of Lawrence’s Qs, however. He never addressed Lawrence’s Qs about transgender stuff that Paxton brought up in his victory speech. It will be important how JT handles this as that’s one of the issues MAGA is and will continue to be very tough on.
Is JT really in favor of children getting trans surgery? He will need to address that issue. Or is Paxton just lying or misleading like he did on saying JT favored open borders. He favors legal immigration and letting in good folks, not illegal immigration and letting in criminals as he said to Lawrence.
By the way, if JT really were a vegan, who cares? Why is that important, especially since there’s nothing bad about it? MAGA loves to overemphasize uber-masculinity. Why is that important? If a woman were running, would she have to be uber-feminine? This stuff is so tiring!
In looking briefly at some of his other stuff, I think he did make some of those statements. In the past at least he was FOR transgender men to compete in womens sports.
More interesting for us, however is his position on climate change.
His post below is misleading hogwash. We both know with absolute certainty, that under man made global warming that causes the highest latitudes of the Northern Hemisphere in Winter to warm up the most that this has DECREASED the overall number of extreme cold outbreaks and has DECREASED the intensity of cold from a milder source region. This is indisputable based on empirical data and the physical laws of the atmosphere.

Regardless of that, I strongly support him. Donald Trump actually is on the right side of fossil fuels and similar to my position but that is only 1 small part of what we should use to decide on people to represent the best interests of the human race and Americans.
Donald Trump doesn't care about the environment and that defines his mindset and is right by luck, not because he understands anything about science.
James Talarico cares dearly about the environment and that defines HIS mindset and is wrong because of ignorance about climate science since he believes things that line up with his ideology.
His vegan stuff is about saving the planet and I understand the sincere mindset, even if its misplaced.

One of the biggest problems in our country is people belonging to tribes that follow everything that their tribe leaders tell to them to believe.
There is no better, profound example than what we've witnessed with these elections involving Donald Trump and his MAGA cult.
The only thing that matters is who Donald Trump tells them to vote for. The R party is literally shooting themselves in the foot for the general elections. Over and over, the R candidate that will do best in the general election because they are moderates and can attract many NON MAGA votes..........has been shot down because Donald Trump ORDERS his MAGA cult to vote for the MAGA person that adulates Donald Trump.
No matter how awesome the other people were. Donald Trump told them to vote for his guy.
Instead, what people SHOULD BE doing is using their own brains and evaluating each person based on what they bring to the table for them, for America and for the world(not just Donald Trump's ego from his diseased brain in the case of MAGA).
With Talarico, for me despite my strongly disagreeing with his misguided scaring people using junk climate science and also disagreeing that biological men should compete with women..........I can see that he cares dearly about the environment, I can see that he cares dearly about equal rights and respecting ALL of God's children and humanity. ........no exceptions.

As a man, especially one that competed in sports, including football, bodybuilding and power-lifting as well as somebody that got into several , major fist/bar fights growing up in the Detroit area, I embraced that macho mentality.
However, it’s toxic in politics which shouldn’t be about giving everything to the strongest, toughest and richest. It should be about sharing. protecting the weakest, assisting the less fortunate. Caring for the sick and elderly.
Lifting people up! Respecting all human beings, especially those that are different than us.
