Netanyahu obviously told Trump and his peace talks with Iran to take a hike.
Did he intentionally attack before the peace talks on Sunday to sabotage them?
These attacks tonight are the start of a new major war.

Netanyahu made it crystal clear in his speech that Israel and America are together on this.

Trump has been making it clear that he wasn't part of this and he had peace talks with Iran on Sunday.
Rubio made it clear that the US was not part of this.

I gave Iran chance after chance to make a deal. I told them, in the strongest of words, to “just do it,” but no matter how hard they tried, no matter how close they got, they just couldn’t get it done. I told them it would be much worse than anything they know, anticipated, or were told, that the United States makes the best and most lethal military equipment anywhere in the World, BY FAR, and that Israel has a lot of it, with much more to come - And they know how to use it. Certain Iranian hardliner’s spoke bravely, but they didn’t know what was about to happen. They are all DEAD now, and it will only get worse! There has already been great death and destruction, but there is still time to make this slaughter, with the next already planned attacks being even more brutal, come to an end. Iran must make a deal, before there is nothing left, and save what was once known as the Iranian Empire. No more death, no more destruction, JUST DO IT, BEFORE IT IS TOO LATE. God Bless You All!

Now we are quoting Truthsocial as a reliable source? The guy lies constantly. Trump has ZERO influence on Netanyahu and ZERO influence on Putin (sorry Mike). He is proving to be weak.
The strike was pretty surgical (as opposed to Gaza which is rife with wanton destruction). It was a success from a military standpoint and every country in the mideast except possibly Yemen and Lebanon (who are Shiites) are breathing a sigh of relief, notwithstanding their voicing protests at Israel's aggression.
Israel may have bought 5-10 years of a nuclear free Iran, but at what cost? Throughout history the logic of initiating military action often results in unintended consequences. The majority of the Iranian people do not support the regime . But that could change if they rally around the flag. What if buying 10 years results in generational war?
My guess is that it doesn't escalate into full scale war.. But if I lived in TelAviv I would consider going on holiday.

Trump has no credibility with most foreign leaders. He can push around a puppet, like Zelensky or force cooperation by imposing his agenda as the most powerful person on the planet but with other authoritarian leaders like him, that rule like him, that don't listen to reason from others, just like him, that impose self serving interests because they are omnipotent like him..............he loses the battle for control on THEIR turfs!
With Putin, in retrospect I think his bragging about how easy it would be to get Putin to stop the war actually backfired because Putin has oppositional defiance disorder like Trump and Netanyahu. This results in rejecting, even good ideas if it threatens their ego.

I also agree with you on this being much different than Gaza.
Israel is not defending itself in Gaza by killing and starving, 2 million mostly children and women. Iran IS a legit threat potential threat to their existence.
My concern is that the man making these decisions, although brilliant as a tactician and communicator(charlatan) is also a very dangerous, self serving psychopath, that is also driven by hatred and rage.
You'll note that I'm not against this action because it's based on authentic facts and logic. Iran has only itself to blame based on its behavior and long lived threats to wipe Israel off the face of the earth when they get nuclear weapons.
Trump has suddenly done an about face on his peace talks overnight to line up exactly with Netanyahu, so yes we know who is running that show.
The other thing is the law of unintended consequences. This could actually CAUSE Iran to quickly develop their bombs and attack if its not completely successful (although Israel is usually extremely effective).
And its likely that the US will be entangled in what could end up being a long lived mess and with Trump at the helm, our reaction is unpredictable.
Iran's retaliation may involve attacks not just on Israeli and US assets but allies and oil installations in the Persian Gulf.
Trump will no longer brag about how he's the president that prevents wars in the world and Biden caused them(Biden DID cause the one in Ukraine -but had 0 impact on Gaza).
I think that Trump admires Netanyahu's leadership style and will fall in line with him on Netanyahu's turf and will support Israel in this war.
Israel needs our huge bunker busting bombs to obliterate the underground uranium enriching operation.
However, they could move to a deeper location?
So much uncertainty. Hopefully a miracle happens and it ends quickly.

Most Iranian citizens can’t stand their repressive far right radical leadership. For that reason, an Iranian-American friend of mine who doesn’t like Trump told me that that most Iranian citizens/Iranian Americans actually like Trump!

Related to that, this will be a new reason for people in this country to battle over the events taking place in the Middle East. Possibly more antisemitism but if we get dragged in, more likely a bigger increase in Islamophobia.
For sure no reason to REDUCE them which is what we need the most.
Reducing them is soooooo needed right now. Ending the war in Gaza would be the 1 thing that would help the most to reduce the unjustified increase in antisemitism.
