Well I have had not had time to check all the congrats you TDS's have been giving our elected President on his new grand trade deal with the UK. You know the deal all the TDS's claimed would never be done and all our old allies were busy aligning against us because we were evil and Hitler like. Remember all those comments from here to most every major so called news organization who were so busy drawing their own narrative they forget why America is so special. Lots of products included especially some very important ag products that have been accepted. Thanks President Trump and your very able group of appointees.

Hey mc,

 But Trump promised an average of one trade deal/day and 90 deals post Liberation Day. This is one whole deal and the details aren’t even all worked out yet. Plus Congress is supposed to approve any deal.

again, it was said over and over no trades deals. we are Hitler  and the only deals would be our x allies aligning together. But as the media and the tds'ers go so goes the narrative. We all see it, we all know it but wow just look at the inflation numbers, the egg prices, crude oil and which of those was a highlight on the evening news? Oh I saw some news last nite the new pope has been elected and he seems to be the old pope and the church will swing again more liberal and all smiles on the media faces

Thanks, mcfarm/Larry,

I look for every opportunity to defend Trump and compliment him when he deserves it.........as well as hold him accountable when he doesn't.

On this trade deal and the tariff stuff, the the only authentic, objective, independent NON TDS point of view is the one that Larry just expressed.

His tariffs scheme is the dumbest, self imposed economy damaging decision in the history of our presidency.

This deal counts .00001% towards negating that. In fact, it makes it WORSE in some ways because this 1st deal, extremely wimpy deal after all this time confirms to us, that all this bragging about many dozens of deals on the table........is complete nonsense. (which we knew already and its just a matter of time before even MAGA knows).

It's also damaged our relationships with many countries in the world as well as credibility as other countries speed their development towards replacing the US dollar as the main global currency.

Most of my wife's business partners are from Canada. The ones that loved Trump in 2024, now HATE HIS GUTS.

The permanent damage that Trump did to the relationship with our most important ally, trading partner and friend, while actually HURTING our own country is an impeachable  offense in my opinion.

This has nothing to do with TDS. These pro fossil fuel people cheered for him to become president. ...now they hate him and his complete nonsense about making Canada the 51st state.

Trump is 100% responsible for alienating them.

You brought this up, mcfarm not me because I wasn't going to waste my time on it but I'll be happy to give Trump his fair consideration on this:

However, this is the take from the White House:

Fact Sheet: U.S.-UK Reach Historic Trade Deal

  The White House

https://www.whitehouse.gov/fact-sheets/2025/05/fact-sheet-u-s-uk-reach-historic-trade-deal/

A MILESTONE IN ADVANCING AN AMERICA FIRST TRADE POLICY: Since Day One, President Trump challenged the assumption that American workers and businesses must tolerate unfair trade practices that have disadvantaged our workers and businesses for decades and contributed to our historic trade deficit.

  • Reversing these conditions and addressing the lack of reciprocity in America’s trade relationships will bring about a new Golden Age and Make America Great Again.
  •
  • President Trump continues to advance the interests of the American people, enhancing market access for American exporters and lowering tariff and non-tariff barriers.
  •
  • The Economic Prosperity Deal with the United Kingdom is a critical step forward in a special relationship to promote reciprocal trade with a key ally and partner.

I already explained in crystal clarity why Trumps tariffs  scheme can NEVER work to change the laws of global economics based on the indisputable principles  in force when  poor countries trade with rich countries.

MAGA thinks that Trump is so brilliant that less brilliant guys like me just can't see or comprehend his omnipotence.

The reality is that I'm trying to help out our MAGA members so they stop getting their intelligence stolen by our president and the MAGA cheerleaders for ratings, like Fox News.

I realize this will have 0 impact people in Trump's cult but there are many readers here that are NOT in his cult and most of them able to see the truth.

Regardless, I have nothing against people trapped in the cult like thinking and only a sincere desire to maintain friendships as well as allow everybody to express opinions, ESPECIALLY those that disagree with me.

As a reminder for the umpteenth time. I voted for Trump, mostly because I believed he would end the war in Ukraine, On that topic, he deserves enormous credit which I've been giving him for many months.

I have also vehemently defended him with regards to the illegal immigrant,  MS13 gang member with a long history of criminal wife beating, gang membership and participation in human trafficking.

However, what he did with this tariffs scheme is sooooo harmful to the United States.

Had I known this was his exact plan, I'd just not voted for president last November

Sowell REACTS to Trump’s First 100 Days in Office || Thomas Sowell Reacts

Thanks much, cutworm!

Its no secret that we both like and respect Sowell a great deal. I pick and choose what I use from him because he ignores so many key elements in discussing the entire picture.

This particular piece that you provided us a link to was produced by Sowell as his version of Sowell conservative propaganda that uses  compelling sounding theories but intentionally ignores so many important items in the real world.  Like Trump's personality, demeanor, truthfulness and specific methods/consistency don't matter when in the REAL world it often dominates with Trump.

Sowell’s arguments are always presented as an intellectual with confidence and charismatic. But ultimately, Sowell is best at rhetorical flourish than thoughtful empirical analysis or philosophical consistency that addresses exactly the specific solutions to problems.

He always takes the libertarian/conservative sides and knows who his followers are. The left is the enemy. They are always  ignorant,  naive or resentful, even while he often fails to recognize the devastating problems with many parts of applying Sowell’s theoretical  programs in the real world.

For instance, Trump the disruptor is being portrayed in a positive light in your video with 0 discussion on the exact method or consequences of his disrupting that, for example destroyed our relationship with Canada with very little benefits to us.

Or a mention of what the most important element is to his disastrous,  disruption of the global economic policy from his tariff scheme.

Since this current thread is a discussion about Trumps tariff schemes and you want to bring in Thomas Sowell's comments on Trumps first 100 days..........let's find out the truth about what Sowell actually said when asked about this tariff topic:

How Popular Is Donald Trump in Canada? What Polls Show

https://www.newsweek.com/donald-trump-popularity-canada-polls-election-2065088

A new poll from Politico and Focaldata, which surveyed 2,826 Canadians from April 18 to April 13, found that only 14 percent of respondents view Trump favorably, while 75 percent view him unfavorably.

++++++++++++++

Here's the thing.

1. This was a 100% unforced,  massive error that can't be fixed, no matter what deranged plan that Trump has in mind.

2.  MAGA thinks its his brilliance of course and we just need to wait longer in order to find out what his omnipotent plan is.

3. The rock solid fact is that this is  more crystal clear evidence that he's very mentally ill. He does things like this to feed his addiction to  delusions of grandeur-ism. He frequently abuses his power for ego fixes like a heroin addict  uses a needle loaded with the drug they need to get high.

++++++++++++++++

Let me add too, the fact that Trump's position on energy/fossil fuels is extremely close to the one that I've made thousands of posts on here the past 2 decades. I am very capable of separating the truth from lies, the good from the bad, the successful strategies from disasters……..by applying standards which are independent of personal political party affiliations.

Neither political party has a franchise on the truth.

If you believe one party all the time......................you will believe in lies some of the time.

++++++++++++++++++++++++++

Addition:

"The trick is being able to tell the difference between the truth and the lies, then picking the truth from BOTH parties and rejecting their lies.

What makes that incredibly difficult to do is that the stronger your affiliation to a party is,  the more blindly you embrace all the tenets of their belief system!

When people really WANT to believe something, almost  no amount of profoundly overwhelming evidence contradicting it will change that. Their brain interprets the truth as a Lie.  Their brains have been taught to believe a lie is the truth from repetition. Their brains are unable to recognize  things which contradict how their brains define the truth Because those things are  automatically rejected based on their brains previously  framed realities. Most of the time, once  that brain has been taught to believe in something, especially if its a tenant of a belief system …you can bombard that person with authentic contradicting facts to kingdom come but it’s a waste of time!

“Nothing discloses real character like the use of power. It is easy for the weak to be gentle. Most people can bear adversity. But if you wish to know what a man really is, give him power. This is the supreme test. It is the glory of Lincoln that, having almost absolute power, he never abused it, except on the side of mercy.”

Ironically, MAGA is extremely against government control and government intervention and for capitalism, free market principles but when President Trump comes out with the most anti free market, government controlled global economic policy in history, they completely abandon all the principles that they claim to be for.

The reality is that their support for Trump is not rooted in following critical thinking or R party principles.

The title of this thread is TDS = Trump Derangememt Syndome that ironically accuses people of doing EXACTLY what MAGA does.

MAGA has TGS =Trump Glorifying Syndrome.

With TGS, Trump is always seen as an omnipotent, brilliant person that is never wrong and is always supported no matter how galactically insane his position is or how clearly damaging his tactics are to the US economy, consumers and relationships with billions of other people,in the world…..or with fellow Americans that disagree with him or MAGA.

This makes TDS (which is a real thing) look mild in comparison.

MAGA is blindly for Trump the disruptor without applying any critical thinking  or common sense to Trumps  pathological methodologies.
TGS =Trump Glorifying Syndrome!
