April 2nd, 2024 by Roy W. Spencer, Ph. D.

The Version 6 global average lower tropospheric temperature (LT) anomaly for March, 2024 was +0.95 deg. C departure from the 1991-2020 mean, up slightly from the February, 2024 anomaly of +0.93 deg. C, and setting a new high monthly anomaly record for the 1979-2024 satellite period.

New high temperature records were also set for the Southern Hemisphere (+0.88 deg. C, exceeding +0.86 deg. C in September, 2023) and the tropics (+1.34 deg. C, exceeding +1.27 deg. C in January, 2024). We are likely seeing the last of the El Nino excess warmth of the upper tropical ocean being transferred to the troposphere.

The linear warming trend since January, 1979 remains at +0.15 C/decade (+0.13 C/decade over the global-averaged oceans, and +0.20 C/decade over global-averaged land).

It Was America's Warmest Winter On Record, NOAA Says

Climate change is warming the coldest places at  the coldest time of year the most!!!

The US Midwest, thanks to a massive greening and increase in evapotranspiration during the growing season (from the increase in tightly packed rows of corn plants) has bucked the trend of the rest of the planet with COOLER Summer daytime reading's(with additional humidity/higher DPs and rain also).

The  least amount of Arctic air invading the United States because of the mild, west to east jet stream, keeping the Arctic air locked up to the north. This was almost entirely the result of the natural variability, but climate change WAS responsible for a couple degrees F of the warmer temperatures(super imposed everywhere).

We had the warmest Winter ever in the United States. Residential heating demand, also was close to the lowest ever.

Several other benefits..........but do we hear about them from the fake climate crisis cheerleaders?

Not only NO! but.............get this.

The one major long lasting  Arctic air mass from the Polar Vortex being displaced southward in January...........WAS ALSO CAUSED BY CLIMATE CHANGE.

So,  applying the cherry picking rule of the fake climate crisis. Every temperature extreme is caused by man made climate change, so this Winters warmth AND the extreme cold were both caused by climate change.

In spite of the fact that climate change is reducing the temperature extremes with latitude by warming The coldest places in the northern latitudes twicem as fast as everywhere else.

part of why the southern hemisphere is not warming as much is because it’s more ocean which warms slower. There are other reasons that we don’t completely understand.

I get what Arctic amplification is which can create more polar vortex disruptions (SSW events).

However, with the Arctic Winters warming the most of any place on the planet, what these people completely miss is that means the air masses coming from the Arctic WILL NOT BE AS COLD!

Every Winter, we have blasts of cold coming from the Arctic which feature our coldest weather periods. Been happening since before humans existed.

Since this area has experienced the most warming THOSE AIR MASSES ARE NOT AS COLD. This means our coldest, cold outbreaks ARE NOT AS COLD!

This can’t be repeated enough times:

It really boils down to this (Cliff Mass can be counted on as an elite source for using objective, authentic science)

https://cliffmass.blogspot.com/2016/03/the-golden-rule-of-climate-extremes.html

The Golden Rule
Considering the substantial confusion in the media about this critical issue, let me provide the GOLDEN RULE OF CLIMATE EXTREMES.

Here it is:
The more extreme a climate or weather record is, the greater the contribution of natural variability.
Or to put it a different way, the larger or more unusual an extreme, the higher proportion of the extreme is due to natural variability.

Products made from crude oil

After crude oil is removed from the ground, it is sent to a refinery where different parts of the crude oil are separated into useable petroleum products. These petroleum products include gasoline, distillates such as diesel fuel and heating oil, jet fuel, petrochemical feedstocks, waxes, lubricating oils, and asphalt.

A U.S 42-gallon barrel of crude oil yields about 45 gallons of petroleum products in U.S. refineries because of refinery processing gain. This increase in volume is similar to what happens to popcorn when it is popped.

One 42-gallon barrel of oil creates 19.4 gallons of gasoline. The rest (over half) is used to make things like:

Global Warming Causes “Deadly Marine Cold Spells”

https://wattsupwiththat.com/2024/04/17/global-warming-causes-deadly-marine-cold-spells/

The lame-stream media, UN bureaucrats, and left-wing politicians will blame every bad weather-related event on ExxonMobil and it will only get worse unless we undiscover fire and immediately forsake capitalism.

Upwelling and the El Niño-Southern Oscillation (ENSO)

What is upwelling?

Upwelling is a process in which deep, cold water rises toward the surface.
