Sabin is prolly smart.
Go before the inevitable happens - that his glory diminishes. He's stayed a long time and took a lot of chances that that wasn't going to happen. He left while he still had choices for his future - you know, before something made a stink and decided for him.
I never realized he had the resume he has !
