Just when you thought that politicians running our government couldn't get any more dysfunctional, we hit an new all time low.

Matt Gaetz is the quintessential example of everything that is wrong with our politicians.

Donald Trump has already divided and massively damaged the R party but fellow ego maniac Gaetz, obviously sees how Trump is idolized and wants to get in on some of his share of destroying the R party and country because he knows the far right will put him on a pedestal next to Trump.

This pathetic, self serving show boat is doing this to get attention to further his career, which includes running for governor of FL.

This is entirely based on him exploiting the Donald Trump factor for his career at the expense of the R party and the country.

Newt Gingrich: The Republicans who voted to oust McCarthy are 'traitors'

Former Speaker of the House Newt Gingrich says it's a 'very sad' day after Kevin McCarthy's ousting from the speakership on 'Hannity.'

https://www.foxnews.com/video/6338346938112

Fox News' Newt Gingrich demands Republicans primary the “traitors” who voted to remove McCarthy

Gingrich: “They should all be driven out of public life”

https://www.mediamatters.org/fox-news/fox-news-newt-gingrich-demands-republicans-primary-traitors-who-voted-remove-mccarthy

NEWT GINGRICH (GUEST): I think it's a very sad day because I think Kevin McCarthy is one of the most talented leaders I've ever worked with. I think that he accomplished an amazing amount for having a small majority and having to take on both the Senate and the White House. And I think this is really a tragic outcome. This was a leader who both gained seats in 2020, gained seats in 2022, increased the number of women members, increased the number of veterans, increased the number of minority members, and he had a vision for a better future.

And let's be clear here Sean, if the University of Georgia Bulldogs, who are the number one team in the country right now, if you started a game and four of the members of the offensive squad decided they were actually on the Alabama side and began tackling your own people, you'd probably get them off the field. Well, think about what we saw today. 4 percent, 4 percent decided they were so morally superior, so intellectually pure, so patriotically better, that they would side with the Democrats and, that's what they did, in order to defeat the entire Republican House Caucus.

96 percent of the Republicans voted for McCarthy, 4 percent voted against him. For my position as a longtime Republican activist, they're traitors, all eight of them should be primaried. They should all be driven out of public life, what they did was to go to the other team to cause total chaos. We ought to be focusing on Biden, we ought to be focusing on the economy, we ought to be focusing on the border. Instead you're going to get a week or ten days of the media focusing on Republican disarray. It's a astonishing destructive behavior by a handful of egocentric people who think they're superior to 96 percent of the conference.

Matt Gaetz brought in record political donations as he opposed Kevin McCarthy for speaker

https://www.usatoday.com/story/news/politics/2023/04/17/gaetz-political-donations-mccarthy-speaker/11673919002/

"The people who raise the most money, they’re not legislatively successful," said Ray La Raja, a political science professor at the University of Massachusetts. "They’re not the workhorses in Congress. So yeah, he can tap into people’s anger. … What he’s doing when he’s not raising money, I don’t know."

Matt Gaetz, Underpants Gnome. The Art Of Performative Conservatism

https://www.maciverinstitute.com/2023/10/matt-gaetz-underpants-gnome-the-art-of-performative-conservatism/

“He can be THEIR Speaker. Not MINE. Are you with me? Join me and demand NEW LEADERSHIP.”

As expected, the last sentence links to his campaign donation page, so he at least got the “profit” part right. He also knows his marks, errrr, audience: Said donation page prominently features a picture of Gaetz smiling on Air Force One with former President Donald Trum

Could Gaetz’s grift be any more obvious? His performative conservatism any more odious? He is soliciting funds for a planned run for governor in 2026 (a likely stepping stone to a presidential bid two years later) by posing as a MAGA champion bravely taking down the hated Establishment.  Gaetz isn’t stupid, but he’s counting on Trump’s supporters to be.

Folks,

Matt Gaetz did this intentionally as a self serving act to generate attention and funding for himself at the expense of the Republican Party and American people.

intentionally amplifying the exact same divisive, dysfunctional political mentality destroying our country and sabotaging his own party.

He is political cancer to our democracy. He is taking the Donald Trump model of success and trying to copy it, but even worse exploiting one of the weakest areas of our democracy and his party right now, the extremely small majority of his party to destroy one of the best fellow Rs speakership’s out of hatred and  jealously for complete self enriching, attention getting objectives.

He is diabolical and the most scary thing of all by a wide margin is the large number of cult following MAGA Rs he has captured entirely because of their mindsets.

Make no mistake. He is using the Donald Trump model and piggybacking off of Donald Trump ….even using a picture of him and Trump when asking for money from his victims/targets. The ones donating money are his targets but every American is his victim.

Ironically, also using the Trump model, he portrays himself as an innocent victim of his own party, claiming to be fighting for the same American people that  he just messed over royal by making it impossible for their political system, party and their democracy to work at the moment.

And he has the audacity to twist this into a fund raising tactic.
Send me more money so that I can destroy our democracy!

But he doesn’t call it that. He calls it “fighting for the people” and sells it as political snake oil to Trump supporters which he knows are the majority of Rs.

In this highly polarized environment, it's not surprising that EVERY D voted to oust Speaker McCarthy.

However, there's no denying the only 8 Rs voted to get rid of him and the rest voted to keep him

Every single D voted to get rid of him, so the democrats are NOT blameless here.

In some respects the Ds bear the majority of the blame for being so political(though we have come to accept this behavior, it's still not right).

Why House Democrats Refused to Save McCarthy

https://time.com/6320202/house-democrats-refused-save-kevin-mccarthy/

In a statement released before the vote, Jeffries explained his reasoning, saying McCarthy had brought this on himself by using his short tenure as Speaker to cater to extremists in his party.

“It is now the responsibility of the GOP members to end the House Republican Civil War,” Jeffries wrote. “Given their unwillingness to break from MAGA extremism in an authentic and comprehensive manner, House Democratic leadership will vote yes on the pending Republican Motion to Vacate the Chair.”

I don't buy this bad explanation, that McCarthy was catering too much to the far right.

This particular rationale is hogwash because McCarthy represented the NON extreme right part of the R party.

To vote him down because of the extreme right is a contradiction in the logic.

Just say it, man. Tell the truth and don't give us garbage.

"I voted to oust him because he's a republican and I'm a democrat.

Now, the R replacement for McCarthy is likely to be more inclined to cater to the extreme part of the R party.  Whoever it is, they aren't likely to be better for the country or the democrats.

McCarthy was likely the best they could have hoped for.........so what is it they think they will get from the new republican speaker that McCarthy would not work with them on?

Watch out for what you wish for or in this case, get ready for the negative consequences and backfiring of your bogus explanation for every D voting against McCarthy.

When you're the minority party in this extremely polarized political environment and you have a majority speaker like McCarthy, you aren't likely to get much better.

If Jordan wins, the Ds will have sabotaged themselves by not having the guts to save a wonderful speaker like McCarthy. Not 1 vote. Every D voted to get rid of him in order to create chaos for the United States of America in order to blame it entirely on the Rs.

McCarthy was very willing to negotiate and try to work things out on many issues. But apparently,   that's not what the Ds want.

Note, one of them being deranged enough to pull a fire alarm to see if he would get the government to shut down as they got very close to the deadline and had finalized an agreement. ........he wanted so bad for the Rs to be blamed for a government shutdown, that he was willing to break the law!

With extremely high confidence this guy is the most qualified, least divisive of the options and most professional with a wonderful ability to communicate and explain positions/situations.

There isn't a better R for the job when it comes to a team player and committed to effectively run our government.

We witnessed him on the job already. He's been tested to the max and passed all the tests THAT MATTER with flying colors.

Doing what a handful of far right Rs wanted him to do would have earned him a bad grade from me. Instead, he stood up to them based on his moral courage.

The man is gifted and cut out for this job!!!

Almost all the Rs know it too!!!

No Ds will ever be for any Rs if they couldn't even muster up 1 lone vote for this guy.

However, if they vote on him again, the Ds will have another chance to redeem their extremely divisive posturing. Wouldn't that be something that we can hope for!

For me, I would celebrate every D that votes for McCarthy by name here.

Wishful thinking.

Democrats craft strategy to make GOP pay at the ballot box if Jim Jordan is elected speaker

A memo first shared with NBC News advises Democrats about how to cast Republicans as beholden to Donald Trump and "extremism" should Jordan become speaker.

SERIOUSLY??? The Ds caused this entirely!

Who voted to oust McCarthy as speaker? See the final tally of the House roll call

https://www.cbsnews.com/news/house-vote-mccarthy-speaker-roll-call-oust-democrats-republicans/

Eight House Republicans and 208 House Democrats voted Tuesday to oust House Speaker Kevin McCarthy — the first time in U.S. history a House speaker has been removed in a no-confidence vote.

+++++++++++++

208 Ds, ALL OF THEM voted to fire the NON far right candidate. Only 8 Rs didn't approve of McCarthy for the job , the other 200+ Rs appreciated the NON far right candidate earlier this month.

If Jordan is elected, you can blame 8 Rs or you can blame 208 Ds. Each R and each D had the exact same power with their 1 vote. Which party had more votes and more power??  The Rs used up almost all their power trying to keep McCarthy but the 208 Ds fired the R preferred, NON Trump guy!

The D's voted him down because:

1. For 100% political reasons.

2. They wanted chaos and dysfunction to blame on their enemy Rs

3. McCarthy STILL wasn't far enough left for them.......and nobody will meet that standard (except for another D)!

4. As I stated earlier in this thread. The Ds had a choice of McCarthy or reject him entirely and take a chance and get Jordan instead and THEY PICKED JORDAN by rejecting McCarthy (if Jordan get's the votes needed).

He has an extraordinarily gifted ability as a communicator to enunciate and articulate words quickly. I mean that totally as a compliment.

Many people that you hear speaking like him are professional voice over artists but he's almost the best I've every listened to.

I say that as somebody in the broadcasting business for 11 years and during that time and afterwards, a close friend(who worked at the Weather Channel for several years)., Paul Emmick did voice overs.

He started in radio at 16 years old because he was born gifted and I got him hired as my back up at WEHT in 1985 after the other guy quit.

He was 19 when I invited him to our tv station one evening with his resume tape. After watching, I thought, holy cow, this guy speaks way better than me!!!

I convinced the news director to hire him (after our weekend guy quit) and he went on to the Weather Channel, then work in Louisville and passed away suddenly a few years ago.

How To Become a Voice-Over Artist: 5 Steps

https://www.indeed.com/career-advice/finding-a-job/how-to-become-voice-over-artist

Articulation: Clarity is crucial for voice-over work. Voice-over artists understand how to articulate every word from the script so listeners can understand the message completely.

++++++++++++++

Being able to articulate well is a huge plus for people in politics. and his pleasant sounding voice seems to come with a sincere, believable person behind it and possibly not as confrontational as somebody like Jim Jordan but who still comes from the far right which is not going to win any D support.

He might be a good person to sell his far right agenda to the American people, sort of an ANTI Donald Trump personality.

We'll listen to him with an open mind but there are several non negotiable positions that his gifted speech can never sell me on (like gay rights for instance) and the fact that he worked behind the scenes with Trump to try to overturn the 2020 election(which is why Trump is so exited about him).

However, the speakers job is NOT to impose their personal views but instead to be able to bring Rs and Ds together to pass bills and move forward with comprises when needed.

He appears to have the type of personality that might be able to accomplish that. So I'm optimistic.

Diet, exercise, behavior, environmental,  mindset and genetics are all factors, Jean.

Some people with bad genes can do everything right and die young from cancer. Others can have some serious flaws in the above factors and live to be 90. But those are exceptions tied, mainly to the DNA we are born with.

The other factors can mean the difference of decades!

He is everything I suggested earlier that reminds me of my gifted, eloquent speaking friend.

I like most of what he stated but he and the majority of our leaders in the United States are blindly marching  our country into WW-3 and at the very least, a major war in the Middle East to go with the one we've been in with Russia.

The only thing every station and political leader talks about is what happened on Oct. 7.

95% of the world wants to discuss and is outraged at what Israel has done since then, which is a couple orders of magnitude worse.........and many of  our news sources and politicians HAVE CENSORED most of what happened the last 3 weeks.

Rs were so furious when the news about Hunter's laptop was censored by the MSM and Ds before the 2020 election.

But we're having the atrocities in Gaza committed by Israel  against 2 million innocent people being treated like they aren't human beings.

In fact, if a person treated their pets this way and it was discovered, they would be convicted of  animal cruelty with the possibility of jail time. 50% of the ones they took food, water, fuel and medical treatment away from out children.

Yes, it was horrific what Hamas did. What Israel is doing is 100 times worse and with regards to the 95% of the world not having the truth censored............it multiplies the odds of Israel being obliterated by a large number that is impossible to accurately guess at.

That probably doesn't even compute to brains getting the info from Fox and similar sources. For them, I just spoke a foreign language.

Everybody is cool with propaganda, DISinformation and conspiracy theories..........as long as its telling them what they want to believe!!!

I disagree with some positions of this speaker but totally respect his belief system and can show you 2 others, Carter and MLK that shared the same motivating religious views which propelled them to being the 2 greatest leaders in our lifetime, just based purely on making the world a better place.

After listening to the new speaker talk several times now, I am blown away at how my first impression of him reminding me of my gifted, meteorologist friend Paul Emmick (that had the most pleasant sounding voice)  is still the same impression.

I will give you something that helps drive home the importance of having this gift which will propel you to heights that people who lack it will never achieve.

Unfortunately, Robert Kennedy Jr has severely damaged vocal chords.

He's an extremely smart man that can present convincing arguments (some, like his anti vaxx stuff is hogwash).

But as I've told my wife for months, when you listen to his voice, it's like listening to somebody scrape nails on a backboard.

If he had the voice of our new speaker, I would bet my house that he would be leading Biden in the polls and have stayed running as a D.

Ronald Reagan is another perfect example of the most pleasing sounding voice and personality that got him elected. Barack Obama too.

But can you imagine Robert Kennedy Jr as our president and the world having to listen to that every day for 4 years...........no matter what he was saying??? Ouch!!!

Presidents and political success is often a function of a persons charisma, which includes their speech.

One of our news directors at WEHT in the 1980's was very clear about his hated for R politicians. When Reagan would speak,  however, I remember him repeating over and overL "How can you not like this guy! How can you not like this guy!"

Like me, being in the broadcast business, he was truly appreciating the speaking/communication gift that our current speaker also has.

I loved McCarthy and thought he proved what a great speaker he was ON THE JOB and that nobody could have done better to move forward in a very divisive political environment.

Usually, when you lose your favorite person, the human tendency is to automatically DISlike their replacement. However, I am liking this guy a great deal from the get go for the reasons stated. We'll see how he actually does on the job.

I believe that he has extraordinary potential to DISARM many opponents and detractors and move forward with agenda's that a person lacking his gifts would be unable to achieve.

What is Wrong with RFK, Jr.’s Voice?

Kelly Johnson, who is married to House Speaker Mike Johnson, practices an ancient form of Christian counseling that classifies people into 'choleric', 'phlegmatic,' and other personality

https://www.businessinsider.com/mike-johnson-wife-kelly-johnson-christian-counseling-phlegmatic-2023-10

++++++++

This is an extremely pathetic attempt to portray the new speaker's wife as somebody  that is doing something bad, so they can try to tarnish his reputation.

She/he are being persecuted here for applying their religious views/values in TRYING TO HELP OTHER PEOPLE!!!!

That's what the business/counseling was about.  Not like most politicians that are using their power to bamboozle people for self serving interests/enrichment.

Or media sources like this one practicing yellow journalism to try to hurt people they disagree with.

SHE WAS GENEROUSLY REACHING OUT TO HELP OTHER HUMAN BEINGS BY APPLYING HER RELIGIOUS BELIEF SYSTEM, similar to what MLK and Jimmy Carter did but in a different way.

We should note that MLK made many thousands of references to Jesus Christ and the bible in his speeches and people don't suggest that he was a wacko, religious extremist.

Same with Jimmy Carter, even while he was in office.

There  is a concerted effort at character assassination of Mike Johnson going on by many on the left, especially the MSM.

Speaker Mike Johnson and the Role of Religion in Politics

Mike Johnson Conducted Seminars Promoting the US as a “Christian Nation”

The new House speaker called for “Biblically-sanctioned government.”

Democrats rev up the opposition machine against Mike Johnson

The party sees him as a particularly ripe target for their messaging to retake the House.

They are determined to define Johnson in the public eye before he has a chance to define himself.

The ironic thing is that the Ds were the ones that fired McCarthy which set the stage for this guy to get elected.

Every single democrat voted to fire McCarthy. If just a handful of the 200+ Ds had voted for McCarthy,  he would still be the speaker and not Mike Johnson.

What happened to his really good partner????

Not impressed with the new girl. She says that if the Rs were really serious about this issue, they would pass laws making it illegal to get lobby money and things like that.

Hugh? It was illegal/wrong  based on the laws on the books right now and that's why we have the investigation.

This isn't about corrupt lobby money from US entities going to bribe our politicians which should be outlawed.

This is about our VP selling his influence in foreign countries to benefit his family.

They didn't approach him or Hunter,.

It was the other way around. Hunter had a business that operated based on his 10 years of experience as a lobbyist in the USA.

Only he was practicing illegally as a foreign lobbyist without registering as a foreign lobbyist because what he was selling would have broken all the rule.

The money went directly in Biden family members personal accounts which is REALLY breaking the laws that are already on the books.

There is no question that this is what the Biden's did.

But the Ds keep repeating:

" Joe Biden did nothing wrong, this is just the Rs being political"

" Joe Biden did nothing wrong, this is just the Rs being political"

Thanks, Larry,

Like you(I think) I strongly disagree with some positions that Mike Johnson has adhered to with religious fervor (especially with regards to LGBTQ rights).

The question is........will he be a speaker trying to pass legislation/bills to move our country forward that requires some cooperation from both his own party and the Ds at times  or will he use his personal belief system based on his religion to trump that?

I'll not pass judgement until observing him doing his job.

He has a huge plus with his pleasant, respectful demeanor and communication skills which can tone down the divisive, hateful rhetoric which causes people to defend their position.

He has a very disarming personality that I feel is sincere. This is the opposite of Jim Jordan being sincere because his personality is the type that is looking for a fight.

Hard to follow Kevin McCarthy though, who already proved himself as the best for the job under the current circumstances.

With regards to him supporting Trump's attempt to overturn the election. We should get over that because its in the past. Unless HE wants to make it an issue now, which clearly he does NOT.

If we look only for reasons to NOT like somebody that we disagree with because of a couple of  major issues that are totally irrelevant in a different realm, we don't give them a fair chance.

We both agree that losing McCarthy was a major blow to our country and the Rs and  we are both skeptical of this guy.

He could be a disaster or he could end up being a pleasant surprise.

What the Rs that love him may not realize is that if he imposes his personal belief system on discussions or decisions too strongly, it could serve to UNIFY the D party and give them ammo to generate votes in the 2024 election!
