I imagine most of you have seen some thing about Russia and Ukraine, and the latest news from both sides

Is it unreasonable, that Russia asks for NATO to give some assurance, of non aggression against Russia. We did not want missiles in Cuba. So what is so different???

Is it unreasonable for Russia to ask for a treaty of non aggression by NATO in the EU countries. Putin knows about Boris in the U.K. Pelosi in the USA, AOC and many others flaunt the rules about masks while at a party, but expect you and me to wear the mask. Putin  knows the rules depend on who is making the rules. Thus Putin asks for a treaty in writing, and still wonders if their word and treaty is as good as the paper it is written on

Is it unreasonable for Ukraine to not be allowed NATO membership  because of the Donbass situation

Is it unreasonable to admit that Crimea will never again be a part of Ukraine

Is it unreasonable to ship arms to Ukraine and train the local Ukraine army in the use of such armaments, for defense reasons only

Is it unreasonable to expect Russia to not be interested in Ukraine soil but rather that Russia expects some respect. Russia is a large country. Crimea gives them a warm water port. Why would they want any more soil to add to such a large country. Do you think that maybe the russian build up of troops on their own soil is more for show and defense, than actual aggression

Would it not be a good idea to stop poking the Russian bear and try to resolve differences with a serious  effort to sign peace treaties with Russia

Would it not be better to stop with the Russian sanctions and try to forge closer ties with Russia instead of driving Russia into the chinese  realm of influence, because China needs Russian resources but so does Germany

This gives Russia a limited area of influence which the West should try and cultivate, even if it means some respect for Russia and NG for Germany

What is the cost of Russian respect vs a war in Ukraine with a nuclear power

Do you think the Biden administration is leading us into another war which we do not want nor is their any thing for the USA to gain except more trouble with a nuclear  power

Do you think Biden and advisors should go the diplomatic route and forget this show of Macho man

Have you noticed that where ever there is a Macho man, such a person is disliked by many

Perhaps if we let Putin assume this macho role we will find our friends in this world. The cost is small, the rewards could be large

The added benefit is that now that Ukraine has an ample supply of defensive weapons, Putin may not want to risk the loss of many million dollar tanks

The Russian defense budget is small compared to the USA. Tanks cost millions. A loss of very many tanks is not advisable unless for defense. Biden should not allow Ukraine to engage Russian tanks except for defense

Putin has not made a good reason to the russian troops why they should fight in the Ukraine. Only the sharp point of the spear in the back side would make russian troops move forward in an aggressive troop movement against Ukraine. Biden should  know this

Diplomacy cost very  little and if done if good faith can reap much good

I think Putin wants both respect, and security with good faith diplomacy, to achieve such goals

I think our leaders are not telling us the real story about Ukraine. We have been conditioned to believe Putin is bad. We have the resources to contain Putin if we act wisely.

trust but verify

Why do we want war in Ukraine? The only one to benefit is the military industrial complex.

Haven't we learned anything in all the wars since WW2. How many of our brave sons need to die, and for what goal? Aren't we the ones who poked the bear?

At least the Trump policies held the bad actors at bay and kept us out of new conflicts. But the Bush, Obama and Biden policies have cost us dearly. They are leading us down the same road and expecting a different outcome. Isn't that the definition of insanity?

I'm with you guys on this.

So this is the where we focus all of our attention:

Update on the human rights situation in Ukraine (1 February - 31 July 2021)

https://reliefweb.int/report/ukraine/update-human-rights-situation-ukraine-1-february-31-july-2021-enruuk

But it doesn't even make the top 15 when looking at global human rights violations. Why are the top 15 countries with the most human rights violations combined, not equal to anything close to the attention and importance of Russia/Ukraine?

It's obviously MUCH more than just a violation of human rights.

Worst countries for human rights and rule of law as of 2021

Today saw some encouraging developments for those who do not want a war with russia

Germany has decided that NG from russia is more important than an alliance with NATO vs. russia in Ukraine.

France and some other NATO countries have indicated a reluctance for war with russia

Even though some sabre rattling continues, it may be, that certain countries do not see any thing constructive to be gained by war

Biden may have indicated a reversal of yesterday's presser about americian troops on Ukrainian soil

Hopefully a war with a nuclear power will not happen

after living under the umbrella of the good old USA since WW Ii why would France and other Nato countries be the slightest "concerned". What, they miss the next 1000/plate peace or global warming  summit?

Nobody wants a war between Russia/USA.  And with the Winter Olympics coming up in a week and Putin being given the honored guest treatment by China, it won't happen any time soon.

Putin is a thug and a dictator.  He does not share the democratic values of the USA (at least what's left of them)

Putin wants to sew discord among NATO nations (ya know... those pesky democracies).

With crude trading above 80$ / gallon, Germany will cleave away from NATO and go soft.  France wants the diplomacy to be between Russia and the EU (not the USA).

So Putin is getting what he wants here.  We shouldn't give it to him.  I'm OK with a diplomatic solution, but Ukraine's sovereignty should matter a little here I think.
