They had a robot cart cleaning the floors and they now have more self checkout registers than people staffed.

Obvuously,  we must raise the minimum wage to save these poor unskilled workers.

Did some checking.   A 4 lane self checkout runs about 125k.   Probably safe to say doubling the number of registers would not double the cost,   but lets go with 4 registers.   You'll need an employee to monitor the self checkout and assist as needed. figure 12 hour days at 9/hr would be 39,420 or about 164k/year to run 4 registers.

Staff those same 4 registers at 9/hr for 12 hour days for 365 days/year will cost a little over 157k in salary and we're not including the cost of the registers.

Pretty close in cost  and we won't dollar/cost/average the price of the self checkout over a few years.  Bound to be some maintenance, etc,   so we'll keep it simple.    Pretty close but no real financial incentive if you leave out things like benefits and FICA employer contributions.

Now raise the minumum wage to 15/hour. It becomes a no brainer and just about essential.
