IMO, this is something that really needs to happen.

https://www.usatoday.com/story/news/nation/2019/10/28/cov-cath-judge-rules-lawsuit-against-washington-post-can-continue/2489395001/

"After reviewing an amended complaint, Judge William Bertelsman ordered Monday that the case could enter the discovery phase and hence a portion of the lawsuit against the newspaper could continue.

Nick and his attorneys had alleged that the gist of a  Washington Post article conveyed that Nick had assaulted or physically intimidated Nathan Phillips and engaged in racist conduct after the Right to Life March in Washington D.C. on Jan. 18."

I doubt the WP will turn over internal emails that hurt themselves.

Freedom of the press is the most blatantly abused freedom in the history of our country and it’s destroying our country right now.

Half of those reporting news are progressive activists who got into that business because it gives them an opportunity to “make a difference” in exerting an influence on the rules of society.

Instead of just reporting the news, they view it thru their belief system prism and tell it in a way that editorializes and spins facts to influence readers and viewers toward their belief system.

It’s gotten so bad at places like CNN that instead of it being disguised or an exception, in the case of president trump, it’s a  war to destroy him that has become their mission and is blatantly obvious. There is always just one side to all Donald trump stories....a bad for him side.

There is no entity holding them accountable. They can justify everything by picking their sources and spinning the interpretations. Fake news will rarely result in retractions when busted and those get lost in the strong current, like a kayak in the rapids trying to go upstream.....the prevailing current is too powerful for it to make an impact.

The prevailing current defines the MSM today and they completely understand their power and how to use it.

cNN for example is A major news station now in the business of deciding who should be our elected officials especially president vs telling the news objectively using professional journalism.

They are not alone, just one of the worst. Fox does it too on the other side of course but the MSM is mainly liberal, half are progressive activists, just like we have in the actors world with these famous people who are also arrogant, biased and abuse their celebrity worship status to push their political agenda on people.

If the case depends on internal communication,  I think they'll have problems.

But we have videos of the event and articles written by the paper.   Present the facts vs the report and some serious questions re: libel arise,  IMO.

A jury may not need any emails.
