US mourns as Democrats blame Trump's rhetoric for shootings

https://www.aljazeera.com/news/2019/08/29-killed-mass-shootings-13-hours-190804150153352.html

"Donald Trump orders flags flown at half-mast as critics say his language against minorities encourage violence.

As the country stood aghast over its latest spasm of gun violence, Trump ordered flags flown at half mast for five days. He described the El Paso attack as "an act of cowardice" in a Twitter post on Saturday.

And on Sunday morning he tweeted again saying "God bless the people of El Paso Texas. God bless the people of Dayton, Ohio."

But critics hit hard at Trump, with several Democratic presidential candidates saying his language against minorities and migrants promotes racial division and violence.'

Trump rhetoric freshly condemned after mass shootings                        https://www.politico.com/story/2019/08/04/beto-orourke-trump-el-paso-white-nationalist-1445700

2020 candidates and other politicians battle over the president's words about minorities, while the Justice Department pursues the El Paso killings as domestic terrorism.

In addition to shoring up gun control laws, O’Rourke said in an interview on CNN’s “State of the Union,” “we have to acknowledge the hatred, the open racism that we’re seeing,” adding that “there is an environment of it in the United States.”

Nearly half a dozen other presidential contenders — including Rep. Tim Ryan of Ohio, Sen. Cory Booker of New Jersey, Mayor Pete Buttigieg of South Bend, Ind., and Julián Castro, the only Hispanic candidate in the 2020 Democratic field — also placed blame on Trump for his rhetoric.

“He is ripping at our nation,” Booker said on CNN, repeatedly using the word “failing” and saying the president “must be held responsible.”

President Trump's racism does not just offend our sensibilities; it fundamentally changes the character of this country. And it leads to violence.

metmike: Sad that one side will use anything and everything to take down this president and is so low as to use tragedies to push political agenda.

THIS is the dramatic moment the Dayton gunman is shot dead by hero cops as he sprays bullets at screaming revellers killing nine.

CCTV footage released last night captures the moment evil Connor Betts, 24, is gunned down just 30 seconds after his rampage began.

metmike: Brave cops risking their lives to save many, many lives....that's what they do.

While everyone runs away for the deadly gunfire, they run right into it, firing at the shooter.
