Just checked CNN on the latest developments on the unrest in France... and found nothing... zip...zilch... nada
As you may know, a few days ago people in France started protesting against proposed tax increases. They started marching, most of them wearing yellow vests (hence the name "Yellow Vests"
At first I thought they were a bunch of hooligans, but on closer examination, I noticed that they were mostly older folks, gray-haired folks. Soon people with other complaints (such as immigration policies) had joined their ranks.
Eventually the protests became violent.
Late last weeks 89,000 police were out on the streets of France, fighting the rioters, who by that time resorted to burning cars and throwing rocks
Even though the police had arrested many protesters, and many protesters had been injured by harsh police tactics, the unrest continued.
Today, FOREIGN military moved into France with armored combat vehicles. They flew the EU flag. This is the first time foreign troops have entered France since Hitler invaded France.
It seems to me, this is a rather significant development.... and nothing mentioned on CNN???? I wonder why.
I think we know cnn has been irrelevant and insignificant for some time. For cnn to not report on this is what we would expect from them.
The main reason for these protests are the ludicrous climate change carbon taxes that are making gasoline and fuel prices very expensive.
Other climate change energy policies have been harmful to the economy and citizens pocketbooks and do zero to affect the climate. People are fed up with it in France.
This was actually the path that Obama and Clinton had in mind for the US. Bernie Sanders would have been the most extreme.
This was one of the (smaller but significant)reasons for why people voted for Trump.
It was my main reason, outside of being a never Clinton guy.
Seems about right.
It started out as a protest against proposed fuel taxes, and quickly changed into protests against immigration policies. "Refugees" are receiving welfare, while French citizens have to work for a living (very much like in the US)
(I placed the word "refugees" in quotation marks, because many are not really "fleeing" from something, but are attracted by the generous welfare offered in Europe... again, very similar to the "caravan" the US is facing right now)
today's news....Pres Macron acknowledges the nation's anger over mass immigration

and again.... no mention of this news on CNN

thanks, Carl, for the links. These articles are the early ones....focused on tax increases related to the Paris Climate Accord.
CNN doesn't mention that the later protests were also much about immigration. I am not surprised that CNN does not mention this angle, because it would play into the hands of the Trump agenda.
Also, in my later post, I find it of extreme importance to know that military forces of other countries (not police forces lending a helping hand) had entered France to quell the riots. Now, these protests are taking on a new dimension. Now it's no longer a domestic issue
Certain commentators would call these events an example of the "People" rising up against the "Globalists", and the "Globalists" responding with heavy weaponry.
Of course, CNN finds it better not to bring attention to this latest development.
"Today, FOREIGN military moved into France with armored combat vehicles. They flew the EU flag."
Gunter, I can't find a reference to that ANYWHERE.
Won't vouch for the credibility of this site, but here's a reference.

Thanks for the site, Tim. Were there any other references?
If not, it seems strange that an event like that wouldn't get more coverage.
