Vatican says the pope has lung cancer and the lower lobe of his right lung was removed

Even if I wasn't a Catholic since being baptized as an infant in 1956, I would love this wonderful man!

When the papal conclave elected him as the new pope last year(1st American pope makes him extra special) in the Sistine Chapel inside Vatican City, they absolutely picked the best man on the planet for the job!

Word is that they could have removed all the cancer and he might not need additional treatment

If lung nodules are under 1 cm in diameter when found, they’re much more curable through surgical removal than if they’re, say, already >2.5 cm. That’s why some at high risk like former heavy smokers, get annual lose dose chest CT scans to find them early.

If a cancerous nodule is caught when it is 1 cm or smaller, the 5-year survival rate rises to 80%.
