Don't forget that we have a completely different, NTR(Non Trade Related) forum, with messages not related to markets. Just scroll down thru the top Trading Forum threads.

If you’re motivated by making a meaningful contribution in the world, but are feeling overwhelmed and helpless in the face of conflict and disaster, these suggestions have been put together as a reminder of what we can all do, however small, to help others and make a positive impact.

Your comment is greatly appreciated, John! You've been here for decades? and always with positive remarks from somebody that displays only the highest character traits! Honestly, I think almost all of our regular posters fit that description.

We have several thousand "lurkers" as Alex would call them.

On our forum, I would say the rule below is extreme to the point of it being more of a blog site.

AI Overview

A lurker on a forum is a member who reads and views discussions but does not post, reply, or leave comments. [1, 2]The Scale of Lurking
  • Estimates show that roughly 90% of online community users are lurkers. Only about 10% actively create content or reply.
  • This is often called the 90-9-1 rule, where 90% lurk, 9% contribute occasionally, and 1% create most of the content. [1]
Why People LurkAs discussed by users on Reddit, there is a community consensus that people lurk for many reasons: [1]
  • Finding answers: Their question or issue is already answered, so no reply is needed.
  • Comfort and privacy: They prefer passive participation, enjoy anonymity, or feel shy about public posting.
  • Avoiding toxicity: Staying quiet helps them sidestep arguments or toxic community drama.
  • Nothing to add: They simply do not feel they have anything relevant or new to contribute to the current conversation. [1, 2, 3, 4]
Why Lurkers Matter
  • Learning and value: Lurkers still gain knowledge and engage in observational learning.
  • Community size: High view counts from lurkers show that the forum is active and valuable, even if the engagement numbers look low

Since I took over 8+ years ago, this site has morphed into more of a BLOG/FORUM hybrid site. We have numerous people that only care about trading stuff, so it was good to separate the forums back in 2017. When I took over, I decided to use it for much, MUCH more.

For instance, another huge bonus(of many)  is when I run the biggest chess tournament in Southern IN, every March it gets used for competitors to verify their entries and see results, along with all the other chess stuff(I've coached chess at 5 schools for 29 years).
