The Derby may be getting a break with the weather.

Even though there may be some light rain, the heaviest, steady rains have shifted EAST of Louisville.

That's FOR THE SPECTATORS!

For the horses/jockeys it's a VERY MUDDY TRACK!

is this a fact?  damn I hope so. it has been reported that every horse in the race was direct descendent of Secretariat. That horse is my all time ever greatest athlete and hero. I watched that horse grow up. Mature. Become the greatest of all time. Become a star on magazine photo shoots, have full length movie made about him, had fables written and stories told about his intelligence, nature, sense of humor, star power, play fullness. over eating, laying in the sun or shade....this was no typical horse, this horse was as near a human as any animal I have witnessed. Cried the day he died. Loved the way he lived. There has been and never will be another like Secretariat.

It just so happened that the first horse races I ever saw (TV or any) were the 1973 Triple Crown  races! Chic Anderson (RIP) on CBS called the races and he was legendary, himself. I assume you remember him. What a time to start watching them.

I watch them from time to time on You-Tube and I literally tear up! It has been said that Secretariat’s heart was over twice as large as the average!
