Does anyone here know where this quote was first seen?
"Badges? We don't need no stinking badges."
LOL NO, BUT... I'LL MAKE A COUPLE OF WILD GUESSES. 1. THE THREE STOOGES. 2. THE KEYSTONE COPS
Thanks for your guesses, Jean.

"Stinkin' badges" is a paraphrase of a line of dialogue from the 1948 film The Treasure of the Sierra Madre.[1] That line was in turn derived from dialogue in the 1927 novel of the same name, which was the basis for the film.

Mike,
Thanks. I did realize that that 1948 movie and novel before that was the origin from where this shortened version came. I meant the shortened version.
I had before today thought the shortened version was first in the hilarious Blazing Saddles. Now I know The Monkees used the shortened version first. That was a mild shock and why I posted about it as I figured few people realized The Monkees episode had it. Did you know that?
I had no idea, Larry and I probably saw every episode of the Monkees.
This was my favorite song the band did:

Their band dynamics is fascinating, especially how they picked each person to play each instrument which was not their best instrument and how they were faking it so much early on.

I'm glad that you brought this up because reading the article above taught me a ton of good things about their legit musical abilities.
Up until then, I'd always thought they were a completely fake band and only Mike Nesbitt was a true musician.
