Heat content of the upper ocean is clearly going up fast too.
Sub-surface..........also warming up fast, especially west!
Models have us neutral by mid Spring and El Nino-ish by mid-Summer.
Models/NOAA use a 3 month average ocean temperature, so there's a LAG in time after El NINO conditions before they declare EL NINO!
The atmosphere has already been displaying El Nino type behavior
