Dry begets dry

This will be the yr that puts the hybrids to the test

 re: dry weather tolerant yield

I have to think the hybrids have improved from almost no yield to something worth harvesting, in a drought

However some pics of corn, in other areas, doesn't look to me to have much hope, so we need to count our blessing

There is a lot of corn in a 4 county area around us that looks worse

With no rain in July and bone dry soils the corn looked pathetic

However just 4/10" of an inch has made the corn look much better

I hear people grumble about 10 days with no rain and the last rain was 1 1/2"

Wow, they need to count their blessing

And the folks with too much rain is a yr of have and have nots

But what yr doesn't have problems some place

Pulled an average cob 14x35 assumed kernels as we think there will be some tip back

Would hope for 16 or18 x 35 in our area, but some thing happened to have less rows of kernels

If we actually have 14 x 35 we will not starve, just not what we need for a little extra income

Next yr, always next yr.

Dry begets dry, but usually at this time of yr the rain starts to come a bit more often

My grand father said

When the damage is done, then it rains

Just an update from down on our farm

you are not alone wayne. this is the 4th day of predicted heavy rain for us. so much that I  feared flooding. We remain at 1/10th of an inch at most farms.....hard to believe after the forecast
