For #corn, that is the highest for the front-month contract since 2012 (only 9 sessions where it's ever traded higher). Front-month #soybeans were higher in 4 other sessions in 2022, but the other 25 times were all in 2012.

#China says it aims to produce 20.63 million tonnes (758 million bushels) of #soybeans in 2022, up from 16.4M in 2021. Planted area is set to increase nearly 17%. China's domestic crop is mostly for food use. Soy imports were nearly 97 mmt in 2021. That becomes soymeal for hogs.

Most-active CBOT #wheat futures are well off their March highs, but current levels just below $11/bushel are unprecedented for the time of year. This year, wheat peaked at a similar time to 2008 and was somewhat following that same downward path until the start of April.

U.S. #ethanol stocks last week hit a 3-month low, but production fell to the lowest levels since September.

Stocks have fallen 8% over the last 3 weeks but remain above average for any time of year. More than 5 billion bushels of U.S. #corn per year is used in ethanol production.

#Russia has temporarily suspended publication of import & export data in order to exclude errors and avoid "speculation." #China did this same thing in mid-2018 when the trade war with the United States was heating up.
