In a world where we exist as net consumers,  by definition, others counties need our consumption more than we need theirs,  which gives us a marked advantage.

I'm still not giving unqualified support to tariffs.   I'll reserve judgment based on future developments...  But I will admit there is a real potential benefit for us.

very few of us support tariffs..even trump in a perfect world does not...its a tool rather not used but after the rest of the world has been conditioned for decades on how America is to used as a patsy something must be done.....and when you dealing with such stooges as Trudeau{ who some say believes Canadian food comes from grocery stores} certain actions must be taken

Casting aspersions towards our PM/ leader and other friendly allies of your country

Reading Fake News and then throwing sticks and stones does nothing positive and you know it

On the other hand it has been opined

The USA has no allies

Personally I would  hope you think Canada is an ally

Because we really are

I don't approve of most of what Trudeau thinks or does

But our country does support him some times and our country is behind Trudeau all the way

Trump is the bully and you know what folks think of bullies

Especially when our countries have no trade deficits

So what is the problem??

All that aside

Lets cut to a possible solution

What say you to tossing out all subsidies for both Canada and the USA

Trump suggested this and if you remember

It was the EU that balked at the idea

I think we could live with no subsidies on everything both sides of our two countries

A positive suggestion may be more helpful

Let the EU sort them selves out and we can concentrate on our two friendly nations

I hope you bear no ill thoughts to me or my country

I certainly like your country but I will retain my canadian passport

that's odd...first Trump a deal maker,,,then he is a hater...then a racist,,,then a homophobe.. a war monger.......and we {Americans} are casting anything....look at what Trump ran on...I guess you all are surprised because most candidates do not fulfill the promises....well he said "enough" .......America needs to take of herself...did you not hear that

PS and after what that little lib pulled as soon as our President got in the air he will be lucky if Trump ever talks to him again...back stabbing little ba-t--d

I think I said not everybody agrees with our PM

He hs been called a traitor to his face

So we do have disagreement amongst ourselves

Not trying to sugar coat our PM

I just saying the good and the bad

Now if you could

Please explain what Trudeau did to back stab Trump

Not defending Trudeau

Just need it from somebody that explain it in Grade school words

I have a hard time with Fake News and all the other

Seriously I did not fully understand

Educate me on the back stabbing part

Also a word about your thoughts on subsidies

This China trade thing

Has anybody given any thought to what that would do to the value of the USD if the trade was equal

Not saying China hasn't been robbing the piggy bank

They have and I can give you 1st hand experience about that

But that deficit money was created from thin air

Great for consumers if USD goes up

But a real bad deal for farmers in NA that export grain

More subsidies??

Explain something to me

Is it Trudeau you don't like

Or is it NAFTA

Because we could cut Mexico out of the deal

You folks probably don't even remember what was all involved about NAFTA when the agreement was 1st signed

I was in your country during that period of time

I would guess about 1 person in 20 even knew there was NAFTA talks be held

So what is it about NAFTA you don't like [after the fact]

Since this all started with Trump  and his NAFTA bully like attitude

The price of the average new home has risen about $6000.00

That worked really well did it not???

We did not escape either

Just visited a 2 million dollar building today, built two yrs ago

Today the cost would be approx. 1/3 more

Guess we won't be spending that kind of money

A lot of your people put a much different spin on this whole thing

That is one of many your people said/wrote/ opined

Each one a bit different or a whole lot different

I agree with the piggy bank analogy

Even if it is fiat printed from thin air

I am more concerned with technology theft

Especially stuff that goes into an enemy  military

Your tariff/trade issue is with China, EU, Mexico, Japan, S Korea etc.

I trucked as many goods into the USA as I trucked goods back into Canada

One load had over 1 million worth of goods coming into Canada from the mid south

There is no trade deficit with Canada

Just one time

I would like a positive solution

Perhaps no more subsidies

That was Trumps idea

If Trump said it you should agree
