The effects of H Delta on the Delta region are likely largely not in this report.
Thanks Larry!
It looks to me like just a fraction of the cotton crop was subjected to rains of 5+ inches from Delta, like maybe 5% at the most?
What do you think?
I noted that the crop condition actually improved a tiny bit in LA, with the good being +1% vs the previous week.
Delta hit there late Friday, Oct. 9, so like you said, maybe the affects didn't make this report which was supposed to be as of Oct. 11-Monday, but normally, the deadline is on Sunday and reports are probably turned in before then.

Mike,
Yes, 5% of the entire US crop at most (which is 850K bales....actually I’m guessing it is closer to half that) sounds right as far as 5”+ of rain and winds gusting into the 50s to ~60. Gusts of 50+ with heavy rain will knock down some open CT to the ground making it unharvestable. Also, the 5”+ of rain will lead to quality losses. LA was already 60% harvested though a lot of that could still be stacked outside. Many other areas of the Delta to N MS to W TN and NW AL got 2-5” of unwanted rain as well as gusts into the 30s though that portion probably didn’t get much damage.
Yeah, no way could CT improve just after a big H like Delta. Next week should show it there as well as SE AR and W MS.
Should be interesting to see the crop condition report on cotton next Monday, mainly for LA.
