And this time we are going to keep the topic based on something which is real and impacts everybody's life directly. I am not talkin about tax cuts or some pie-in-the-sky Green New Deal. I am talking about People's Health Care in a pandemic .
from 2009 to 2016 conservatives and of course Mr. Trump as well as all the talk radio and Fox News and other far right-wing websites complained about Obamacare /ACA and promised to l repeal/ replace it with something better. And yet I up this time point they NEVER had. 11 years later .. NOTHING. Not once did they ever come up with a plan of any kind which is functional and is an improvement upon a badly flawed aca plan. Indeed when mr. Trump tried to put forth his own version of healthcare but it did not cover pre-existing conditions and it did not allow your kids to stay on health care of the parents until the age of 26 like he promised.
This time around Mr. Trump continues to lie in the biggest lie one can possibly say as president. That he will make sure that pre-existing conditions stay and that you may keep for kids on parents Healthcare.
But as you may or may not know -depends how informed you are --the Trump Administration and the president has gone to the Supreme Court and ask them to strike down the entire legislative act. In the middle of a crippling pandemic.
Some of my conservative friends insist that even though Mmr. Trump has gone to the Supreme Court twice in the past 10 months and ask them to completely strike down the entire Obama Care Package cover to cover that they / GOP Trump will still leave those two Provisions in place.
That is not what the Trump White House is asking the Supreme Court to do. I Am Not a huge fan of the Obamacare ACA plan. It doesn't work very well but why would it since it comes from conservative think tanks.
As we go into the Autumn this is going to be a big issue with the pandemic raging and States shutting down again.
Keep in mind that if I have the coronavirus and I recover but I am suffering from a long-term effects with the removal of the ACA and pre-existing conditions no insurance companies ever going to offer me any kind of health insurance. So if I'm Suffering from long-term impacts and damage to my lungs because the virus without the necessary Healthcare I will die of complications in the future.
“President Trump said his administration will urge the Supreme Court to all of overturn Obamacare, maintaining its all-out legal assault on the health care law amid a pandemic that will drive millions of more Americans to depend on its coverage,” Politico reports.
“The administration appears to be doubling down on its legal strategy, even after Attorney General Bill Barr this week warned top Trump officials about the political ramifications of undermining the health care safety net during the coronavirus emergency.”

Trump Asks Supreme Court to Invalidate Obamacare
“The Trump administration urged the Supreme Court to invalidate the Affordable Care Act in a legal brief filed Thursday, putting health care at center stage in an election year already focused on the coronavirus pandemic’s impact,” the Wall Street Journal reports.
“The Justice Department said the 2010 health law, a signature achievement of the Obama administration, is invalid because Congress in 2017 ended the financial penalty for not having health insurance, though it didn’t take effect until 2019.”
Playbook: “Democrats would love nothing more than to run against Republicans wanting to cut Americans’ health care benefits in the 2020 election.”
TX GOP SENATOR Cornyn Encourages People to Sign Up for Obamacare
“After voting more than a dozen times to repeal the Affordable Care Act and leading Senate Republican efforts to dismantle it, Sen. John Cornyn (R-TX) said that the ‘good news’ is that people can sign up for President Barack Obama’s signature health care law if they’ve lost their jobs and need health insurance amid the coronavirus pandemic,” the HuffPost reports.
Said Cornyn: “The good news is that if you lose your employer-provided coverage, which covers about a 180 million Americans, that is a significant life event, which makes you then eligible to sign up for the Affordable Care Act.”
WOW....
Hi Wx
I can't really comment on your post with any kind of intelligent reply
You may or may not know I am a Canadian
So: As far as I am concerned Canada has a much better health care system than any, that you folks propose
You see it works like this
Our medical system is paid for by taxes
If I have a doctor, my doctor decides how often and what medicine I need. Nobody that I know complains about their doctor. The doctor, hospital etc gets paid by our gov't for service rendered. We have modern hospitals, maybe not superior to you but sufficient for our needs. I almost was referred to the Mayo, almost all expense paid, but choose to not go, as I did not think it would be a good use of money for a situation that was incurable. That was my personal decision. You see I suffer, among other things from cluster head aches and all my research told me there was no cure.
I don't have to worry about a hospital bill BK me or the family
Elective surgery is more complicated. If elective surgery, lets say cancer treatment, you go to the top of the list and treatment starts according to what stage you are. Some start immediately.. Hip or knee replacement has a waiting period. I could get a new knee if I want. I told my doctor to not waste space on me as I would not do the exercises properly and it would be a waste of time and money. My doctor told me if mobility becomes an issue she will get my knee fixed. Now if you want your boobs bigger or smaller then the wait time is longer, but you will get your turn for new boobs
Some people go to foreign countries. These people don't want to wait their turn and will pay for immediate surgery. That is fine with me. If my life is in danger, I get immediate attention, as my uncle did when he suffered a massive heart attack
We do have to join a medical plan for medicine or pay out of pocket. My wife was covered for medical expense, at her place of employment. My son has a private plan. Our co-payment might be 10 % of the bill. Now that I am over 65 I pay some thing, [[It is always different medicine and different cost so I can't say exactly] Usually less than 10.00/week out of pocket and I take a ton of pills every day. I won't bore you with all my medical history, but one yr I racked up 40,000.00 in medicine and we paid 10% out of pocket.. When out of country that can be problematic as your medical history decides what your cost is for out of country medical coverage. Last time we were gone for 4 weeks holiday and it cost for two of us almost 1000.00. When I was trucking and needed all yr coverage Lloyds of London covered me for less than 1000.00 but I was a lot younger then. We still like Lloyds of London.
My wife has had emergency surgery, no wait just get it done, my son had emergency surgery, same thing get it done and no cost except gas to drive to the hospital for my son and a free ambulance ride with lights and siren for my wife. She had a blood clot, my son almost lost his eye sight in one eye. I have had two miny strokes which gets immediate attention although my wife drives me as it is quicker than waiting for an ambulance out in the boonies
I argued our system until I was blue in the face some yrs ago when Trump was 1st elected and before when Bernie had his idea for your country
I am not saying we are perfect but your system and any proposed system would scare me to death
we - my wife and I were planning to move to Canada this autumn.
really. Ottawa.
reason? Caanda's health care
It doesn't work very well but why would it since it comes from conservative think tanks.
This is the sort of comment any "life long conservative" would make.
I have no idea who or what Tim is talking about
Wx
Just curious. Why Ottawa?/
My brother lived there many yrs
We hardly ever went to Ottawa
The snow is very deep in winter
It is very cold
I assume if the virus goes away you have looked at immigration restrictions
Can you get on our medical system immediately when you make the move
I assume you have done your home work
Further south west say between Toronto and Windsor is much more climate friendly
Do not think of any place within 100 miles of Toronto
There are many small villages between Toronto and Windsor with relatively cheap housing
But you have to accept the rural people way of life
good to know
