CBOT Nov #soybeans to Dec #corn

Pretty interesting pattern as of late. SX/CZ around 2.48 on Wed but had bottomed at 2.3 mid-March. Most comparable recent year is 2016. That was also a March acreage shocker to the upside, but final plantings ended up even higher in the end.

I usually show this chart in reference to yield, but with 2020 intended #corn acres (97 mln) at the highest since 2012, thought it would be good to see by state. Nebraska is the most interesting at 2nd highest ever behind 1932. Iowa comes in 4th behind '81, '12, & '07.

Here are a couple different comparisons with intended 2020 U.S. #corn planted acres by state. First up, comparing with 2019 planting intentions, published one year ago (before the spring flooding problems worsened).

Thought I would share this chart as long as I have it open. It is pretty stunning to see how prevented acres of #corn and #soybeans in 2019 compared with the history of prevented plantings. 11.4 mln corn acres, 4.5 mln soy. Crazy.
