We are loaded with good(bad) ones today! Saving the best for Carl.

1935 – The world's first parking meter is installed in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.

1942Holocaust: Vel' d'Hiv Roundup (Rafle du Vel' d'Hiv): The government of Vichy France orders the mass arrest of 13,152 Jews who are held at the Winter Velodrome in Paris before deportation to Auschwitz.

1956Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Circus closes its last "Big Tent" show in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania; due to changing economics all subsequent circus shows will be held in arenas.

2021American Civil War The rioting that began after Donald Trump is narrowly re elected on Nov. 3, 2020 continues to worsen with AOC calling for people across the country to protest by not going to work at their jobs in order to completely shut down all businesses. This includes democrats in both the house and senate who refuse to acknowledge the results of the election on the grounds that it was decided by the electoral college, a system they claim is obsolete and was designed by racist, slave owners. They continue, however to hold hearings and do investigations related to Trumps colluding with Russia back in 2016.

2025American Civil War President Trump, now in his 3rd term, after changing the Constitution to allow himself to remain as president and  in order to address mass chaos and civil disorder by those that oppose him, continues with his mass deportation of those that oppose him. The latest estimate is that the US population has decreased by 60 million people in the previous 3  years.

2029American Civil War King Trump, declares the Civil War to be officially over with most of those that oppose him having been deported or being held in concentration camps. The walls that he built along the entire southern border in 2023, are no longer needed as people from other countries know better than to mess with Trump's rule of law.

2021 – American Civil War ll .   The rioting that began when Donald Trump calls for martial law after being soundly defeated for reelection  continues to worsen with Trump calling for people across the country to protest by "any means necessary". Protesting incudes some red state republicans in both the house and senate who refuse to acknowledge the results of the election on the grounds that it was decided by millions of illegal aliens voting for the unqualified black woman who has a false birth certificate.

Great one Carl!

2030- The world as we know it rapidly comes to an end..........in the exact same year that AOC and Al Gore warned us about. Conditions to grow crops become impossible.  Billions of humans perish in just 2030 as the mass extinction of life on earth proceeds rapidly. Climate change from burning fossil fuels? No. Huge asteroid strike........and everybody suddenly  realizes that all the divisive political crapola over the previous X amount of years was really dumb and they wasted all that time fighting, instead of appreciating the wonderful gifts that we all share as human beings  (-:

1945World War II: The heavy cruiser USS Indianapolis leaves San Francisco with parts for the atomic bomb "Little Boy" bound for Tinian Island.

In July 1945, Indianapolis completed a top-secret high-speed trip to deliver parts of Little Boy, the first nuclear weapon ever used in combat, to the United States Army Air Force Base on the island of Tinian, and subsequently departed for the Philippines on training duty. At 0015 on 30 July, the ship was torpedoed by the Imperial Japanese Navy submarine I-58, and sank in 12 minutes. Of 1,195 crewmen aboard, approximately 300 went down with the ship.[4] The remaining 890 faced exposure, dehydration, saltwater poisoning, and shark attacks while stranded in the open ocean with few lifeboats and almost no food or water. The Navy only learned of the sinking four days later, when survivors were spotted by the crew of a PV-1 Ventura on routine patrol. Only 316 survived.[4] The sinking of Indianapolis resulted in the greatest single loss of life at sea, from a single ship, in the history of the US Navy.

1941Joe DiMaggio hits safely for the 56th consecutive game, a streak that still stands as an MLB record.

DiMaggio was a three-time Most Valuable Player Award winner and an All-Star in each of his 13 seasons. During his tenure with the Yankees, the club won ten American League pennants and nine World Series championships.  His career nine World Series rings is second only to fellow Yankee Yogi Berra, who won ten.

Mostly used the computer to solve business problems. When I had to move back to NY to take care of ailing parents, worked for a plastic and rubber conglomerate, then 4 years in the OR dept of American Airlines. Then moved to Seattle  and  worked for an entrepreneur/developer doing financial projections, new project analysis. Finally same kind of stuff in my own business. At this point the Apollo work seems the most significant, even though I was only one of many who worked on the simulation program.
