Latest GFS 2 week rains:

Still some pretty heft totals, in some places. Model runs are updated every 6 hours. The spots with heaviest rain change on each run.

Was looking at rains the last 2 weeks and there are quite a few places that have been on the dry side, have corn planted and would not mind a bit of rain.

Here is a wonderful map that tells the story.......crop moisture index, showing surface moisture. Too wet in IA se/MN to s.WI, then in the south.  Dark greens are excessively wet.......not many places like that:

Wonderful, wonderful wonderful map mcfarm!

That really tells the story. Updated past the USDA from Monday too.

How is your corn planting going?

What a difference a year makes, eh

yes Mike mother nature tends to be a much larger force than common man can ever imagine. Last year it was us and this year it somebody else. We have had a great May. April not so much with the cold and snow. Got done planting Wednesday and very very happy with the way things went in the ground. Some corn is spiking today and can see some beans from  the road. Very lucky and thankful. Wish I could market a crop as well as I can plant one.

Great to here mcfarm!

With the technology/planters and hard work/determination, farmers today can plant a crop with incredible speed.

We tend to focus on the areas that are way behind most of the Cornbelt is in great shape right now.
