1922 – A challenge to the Nineteenth Amendment to the United States Constitution, allowing women the right to vote, is rebuffed by the Supreme Court of the United States in Leser v. Garnett.

What was wrong with people back then.........trying to deny women the right to vote?

1939United States labor law: The U.S. Supreme Court rules that sit-down strikes violate property owners' rights and are therefore illegal.

What was wrong with people back then.........denying  legit strikes and protests?

1951 – The Twenty-second Amendment to the United States Constitution, limiting Presidents to two terms, is ratified.

Well, at least for some this is good news today............that they only have to tolerate Trump for 8 years........kidding, kidding!

2010 – An earthquake measuring 8.8 on the moment magnitude scale strikes central parts of Chile leaving over 500 victims, and thousands injured. The quake triggered a tsunami which struck Hawaii shortly after.

1902 – Second Boer War: Australian soldiers Harry "Breaker" Morant and Peter Handcock are executed in Pretoria after being convicted of war crimes.

I picked this one because of the term "war crimes", which is used to describe acts that violate "acceptable" war time activity.

I've always felt that War itself was a crime against humanity, where flame-throwers, napalm, mines, etc are perfectly acceptable means of killing your enemy.
