While Tom Waits may be somewhat of an acquired taste, his version of "Somewhere" is my favorite one.

Wonderful. Any Brian Adams or Joe Cocker songs you like?

I'm not familiar with Brian Adams; I'll check him out, and  I think I'm only familiar with "Feelin' Alright" By Joe Cocker.

Yes, the extent of my ignorance is practically unbounded! Links to any of your favorites by these two will be most appreciated.

Not my favorites, but joe Cocker and Jennifer Warnes did a good job on 'Up where we belong".

Bryan Adams, Rod Stewart and Sting surprised me with "All for love";

INHO, they all sound better when not singing alone.

Those are nice selections Carl; both songs have strong choruses. I think "Love Lift Us Up" is the more attractive because of the combination of both a male and female voice, but I like both performances.

I think most vocalists sound better when other vocalists are also featured, simply because a slight degree of listener tedium arises when you hear the same voice throughout a song. I've bought CDs featuring a specific vocalist I really like, and have noticed that that issue arising time after time.

Thanks for posting the enjoyable links!
