Dershowitz slammed the special counsel for having to “resort to false statement prosecutions,” arguing it shows Mueller “didn’t start with very much” to begin his investigation.

”I think the weakness of Mueller’s substantive findings are suggested by the fact that he has to resort to false statement prosecutions, which really shows that he didn’t start with very much, and that the very fact that he’s conducting an investigation has created these crimes,” Dershowitz told Bill Hemmer. “These are not crimes that had been committed prior to his appointment, they’re crimes that were committed as the result of his appointment, and that raises some questions about the role of special prosecutors in creating crimes, or creating opportunities for crimes to be committed.”

“In the end, I don’t think Mueller’s going to come up with very much, in terms of criminal conduct, that existed before he was appointed, and that’s pretty shocking,” added Dershowitz.

What are the facts?  Well, we don't know yet, do we?  Rod Rosenstein won't testify before the watchdog committee that is responsible for overseeing this.

What are the best guesses?  As Dershowitz says, Mueller really couldn't have started with very much.

Where is the evidence of criminal activity with the Trump campaign that was sufficient to go to the extreme of appointing a Special Prosecutor??

There is, and has been, an awful lot of Trump Derangement Syndrome out there.

As Spock would have said - it is illogical.

Bill Clinton was impeached because he made a false statement after his investigation started.

A leveraged squeeze is a powerful tool of a prosecutor.

Bill Clinton should never have been impeached.  IMHO, Bill Clinton's impeachment was payback for Richard Nixon.

Nothing happens in a vacuum.

But, yes, it is a powerful tool - one that appears to be misused in a political witchhunt.

BTW, that's what Bill Clinton called it when he was the target too.

Another BTW - did you read that story about Epstein that just came out?  Ken Starr was one of the lawyers that got Epstein off with a slap on the wrist.

Actually,  I think Clinton's was impeached because the pubs just knew he was dirty as defecation,  but could not quite prove it, so they settled for the perjury.
