You can guess where this is going

Turnout in U.S. has soared in recent elections but by some measures still trails that of many other countries

A chart showing that U.S. voting-age population turnout is still behind many other countries despite its recent rise, though registered-voter turnout is remarkably higher

            Mike said,

“When the Ds take control of the House in November and they start the impeachment investigation of Donald Trump, he will be called to testify just like Bill Clinton.”

Hey Mike,

 Will the Dems actually win in Nov like they should and deserve to after Trump declares a “national emergency on elections”? Is this the most insane thing you’ve ever  heard………………………..today? I mean this makes “Outer Limits” to the “Twilight Zone” power on steroids seem like child’s play!

With the rate of voting in elections by Americans being lower than over half the countries on the page above, the LAST thing we need is people trying to impose voter suppression agenda. Especially since there are no authentic/legit studies, investigations or reports with evidence that shows widespread tampering with our voting process using corruption that is winning any elections.

Plenty of fraud on a very small/isolated scale for sure.

Widespread, organized election fraud, especially from foreign entities that actually alters the outcome of elections?? Extremely rare.

                                    A Sampling of Proven Instances of Election Fraud

              https://electionfraud.heritage.org/

+++++++++++++++++

There are 1,000+ cases of proven incidents of voter fraud at that link.

How many showed an impact that changed the outcome of that election?

I looked thru a couple of dozen and the pattern was clear from that limited sample. Not even close to being in the vicinity of anything that altered election results.

It wouldn't be surprising to find out that a few extremely close elections,  of the many thousands of elections in recent years, where the very slim margin could make it vulnerable to the very small amount of election fraud.

How voter registration rules discourage some Americans from voting: An explainer and research roundup

A big reason voter registration rates vary so much in the U.S. is because states have their own election policies and processes, which can make registering easy or difficult. Election offices also differ in how they educate voters.

https://journalistsresource.org/politics-and-government/voter-registration-research/

Voter registration rates among demographic groups

 Data from the U.S. Census Bureau demonstrates substantial disparities in voter registration rates across states and the District of Columbia. The Census Bureau provides a variety of reports and spreadsheets containing estimates of the number and percentage of people from each state who are registered to vote. It offers data broken down age, sex, race, household income, employment status and other demographic factors.

White U.S. citizens are much more likely to be registered to vote than citizens of other racial and ethnic groups. Nationally, about 71% of white adult citizens, 64% of Black adult citizens, 60% of Asian adult citizens and 58% of Hispanic adult citizens were registered to vote in November 2022, according to Census Bureau estimates.

Some other disparities:

  • Older adult citizens are more likely to be registered than younger ones. While 77% of citizens aged 65 years and older were registered to vote in November 2022, 63% of citizens aged 25 to 34 and 49% of citizens aged 18 to 24 were.
  •
  • Voter registration rates differed by job status in November 2022. For example, 60% of unemployed adult citizens reporting being registered compared with 72% of self-employed adult citizens and 79% with government jobs.
  •
  • Adult citizens with lower incomes are less likely to register to vote than those with higher incomes. For example, 83% of adult citizens with family incomes of $150,000 per year or higher were registered to vote in November 2022. Meanwhile, 58% of adult citizens with family incomes of $15,000 to $19,999 were.

++++++++++++++++++

So in view of the above statistical realities, the harder you make it for people to vote, the LESS poor people will vote. The less Black people will vote. The less Hispanic people will vote. The less young people will vote. The less Democratic party affiliated American citizens will vote compared to Republicans.

Our country already has a problem getting those exact people registered to vote.

As objective Americans that respect the Constitution and peoples RIGHT to vote, we should be looking for ways to incentivize ALL American citizens to vote so they can participate in our wonderful democracy!

I’ve said the following before at various online bulletin boards, probably including this one. I’d be for all states requiring voter ID, but that would only be if there’s a standard voter ID issued to all registered Americans for no charge. That would be the best of both worlds and wouldn’t at least in theory be unfavorable to any group. Again, every registered voter must be sent one for free well in advance.

Very profound idea, Larry!

Agree to that it should be passed as a law and imposed using a reasonably long time frame that allows ALL Americans the opportunity to obtain this voter ID.

That time frame would likely need to be over a period of a year+, especially considering all the bugs with a brand new system.
