While its been clear for years that Donald Trump is mentally ill, with pathological thinking from his delusions of grandeur-ism and lack of empathy for human beings along with being defined by NEGATIVE character traits, its only been in the past year that his rapidly advancing dementia is greatly amplifying the impact of the initial condition!!

Biden's dementia especially impacted his cognitive functions in his ability to think and communicate thoughts. He had Sundowners syndrome which impacts the elderly when they are tired/late in the day because their brains have no reserve/cushion to counter tiredness. When they are tired, their cognitive losses are greatly amplified!
Trump is much different. He is like the energizer bunny on steroids that keeps his brain functioning and mouth moving at warp speed, DESPITE that brain lacking the basic functioning needed to think logically and make smart decision.
Biden was a stable man before the dementia. Having dementia just caused majory functioning issues. A president needs to be capable of functioning well and Biden was unable to do that much of the time.
Trump, on the other hand was extremely unstable and lacking in most positive traits that define a good person BEFORE the dementia. Sadly for our country, Trump's dementia has taken his previous mental illness and negative traits, along with unchecked/abusive powers and cheering section for Trump religion into an extraordinarily damaging and dangerous positive feedback loop realm.
Biden still had ethical standards and was capable of making smart decisions based on his judgment center NOT being impacted much from the dementia.
Not so with Trump. There is nothing he wouldn't do if he thought it benefited Donald Trump. NOTHING!
His judgment center is greatly impaired, which makes him incapable of comprehending catastrophically bad impacts of decisions that are even slightly good (for him) for just 1 element of that really bad choice.

The 25th Amendment is SOOOO justified right now to remove this extremely dangerous, unqualified person from office but it will never happen because Trump has surrounded himself with people that worship Trump religion and they would much rather see our country destroyed than to violate the tenets of Trump religion.
In such a case, the vice president and a majority of Cabinet secretaries inform the speaker and president pro tempore that the president is incapable of performing his duties, and the vice president immediately takes over as acting president. The president resumes his duties with "his written declaration that no inability exists."
And what if a president contests the finding that he is incapable of carrying out his duties?
Again, Section 4: The vice president and a majority of Cabinet secretaries must again declare the president incapable and do so in writing within four days. Congress must then convene within 48 hours and has 21 days to decide the issue. A two-thirds vote of both chambers is required to declare the president unable to perform his duties. Short of that two-thirds vote, the president remains empowered.
There is one more route in Section 4 to declaring a president incapable of serving. The vice president may do so with "such other body as Congress may by law provide," essentially an independent review board. Physicians? Psychotherapists? Legal scholars? Religious leaders?
The 25th Amendment doesn't say, and Congress has never acted on the question.

Assuming that Trump remains in office for 3 more years, the most likely scenario is that Americans will severely punish Rs in November 2026 election.
With the majority in both houses, the Ds will impeach Trump in the House but the Senate requires 2/3rds majority to impeach and remove from office. It's conceivable but not likely that by then, even the greatly damaged Rs, will appreciate that it was Donald Trump that damaged them so badly and cost them so many elections and they will respond by impeaching him in BOTH houses. Cutting off the biggest source of damage to their party and letting VP Vance take over.
However, people in a cult (MAGA/Trump) are unable to see who their cult leader is......by definition. If they did, they wouldn't be in the cult. Rs in Congress are much more likely to continue to fear Trump more than they are motivated to serve the American people...........even as Trump is sinking the R ship.

These 800 men and women have worked their way up to their top ranks over decades by prioritizing the United States military and its interests in the world.
They are some of the best critical thinkers and strategists on the planet. It's what they do. They don't think politically as much as they do using highly developed skills in exercising good judgment to make smart decisions. This is how they got to where they are.
What they witnessed in person on Monday was a complete train wreck of a commander in chief that horrified them.
These are very assertive men and women with their priority being to make the United States of America best prepared for adversities and TO PROTECT AMERICAN INTESTESTS, having the best leadership in place to accomplish that. They understand this better than anybody. They have worked their way up to the top and are responsible for having our troops prepared but at the same time, they would clearly want the commander in chief to have the basic skills to do their most important of all job.
What President Trump did on Monday was crystal clearly demonstrate that he is not just unqualified but is very dangerous. The fact that he appointed his Fox and Friends pal as his Secretary of War had to already be concerning since all 800 of them in the auditorium were vastly more qualified to do Pete Hegseth's job.
Do NOT expect all 800 to just go back to their jobs around the world and put this in the rear view mirror.
Many of them, because of who they are will be actively involved in discussions about how to PROTECT America from this dangerous president.
Many of them will be contacting BOTH PARTIES in Congress with their concerns. There will be a serious discussion about removing President Trump from office.
The elite men and women that President Trump did this too on Monday have enormous respect and clout in addition to their life long commitment of protecting our country.
Ironically, while President Trump rambled on with complete nonsense about how he wanted them to think their enemy was democrats in big cities .............they were all appreciating who the real risk to our country is and who they need to protect the United States of America from.
The question is not whether the above is true or not. It's just a matter of how many dozens of these men and women take actions to remove President Trump and how they go about it.
The initial phase will be a discussion amongst themselves. At that point, they could come out with a statement that only goes to the US Congress in hopes that they can convince Congress to act. Or they could go public and risk all being fired by Trump.........which he would do.
Again, they are the most patriotic men and women dedicating their careers to protecting the United States from dangerous entities and not like morally bankrupt politicians and the president that will do everything for self serving interests.
They could decide to not go public without enough support from Congress unless their concerns are so great that they have no choice.
They could wait until after November 2026, with the new D majority in both houses very likely but Trump can do a ton of permanent damage between now and then.

There are 100+ important items for Congress to be concerned with on any given day. The government shutdown is extremely important but only the 2nd most important for Congress because #1 stands alone at the top and will always be #1!
