Trump and Netanyahu say they've agreed to a plan to end Gaza war and await Hamas to accept terms

WASHINGTON (AP) — President Donald Trump and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said Monday they’ve agreed to a plan to end the war in Gaza, but it’s unclear whether Hamas will accept the terms.

Trump on Monday laid out a 20-point plan for ending the Israel-Hamas war and establishing a postwar governance in the war-battered Palestinian territory. Trump's plan would establish a temporary governing board that would be headed by Trump and include former British Prime Minister Tony Blair.

The plan does not require people to leave Gaza and calls for the war to end immediately if both sides accept it. It also calls for all remaining hostages to be released within 72 hours of Israel accepting the plan.

Trump said Israel would have the “full backing” of the United States to take steps to defeat Hamas if it doesn’t accept the proposed peace deal.

“I think we are beyond very close,” Trump said at the start of a news conference with Netanyahu where he detailed the plan. “We're not quite finished. We have to get Hamas.”

“If Hamas rejects your plan, Mr. President, or if they supposedly accept it and then do everything to counter it, then Israel will finish the job by itself," Netanyahu said. "This can be done the easy way or it can be done the hard way, but it will be done”

The president went on to urge Palestinian people to take responsibility “for their destiny” and embrace his peace proposal.

Any thoughts other than that it took way too long for this war to end assuming an end actually is accomplished?

Thanks, Larry!

Trumps previous plans were ethnic cleansing jokes to get attention for Donald Trumpand if he was serious about peace,, he wouldn’t still be shipping billions in weapons to Israel to kill people in Gaza.

His fake peace meeting with Putin in Alaska, then NATO and Zelenskyy was just a ruse to get attention for Donald Trump.

what counts is getting peace.

My guess is that Netanyahu will claim that Hamas won’t agree to the terms…..no matter what Hamas agrees to and he insists that Israel finish the job.

if I’m not mistaken, this peace plan requires Hamas basically to surrender and give up the hostages and Trump knows that won’t happen just like he knew Putin would never give up all the land in Ukraine and this will be just another “look at me, Donald Trump with great peace plans that nobody that counts agrees with.

Lets hope I’m wrong.

YW, Mike!

I also posted this at the wx bb’s political board. Here was what I said about it right after posting the article:

I fear that Trump has two ulterior motives behind doing this (hopefully not):

-To try to intensify his ridiculous campaign that he deserves the Nobel War….ooops, I mean Peace Prize that he’s obsessed over

-More diversion to reduce attention on Epstein-gate

-These two motives may be related

Regardless, despite these possible ulterior motives and the fact that the chances aren’t great Hamas will agree to it, I’m always hopeful that this nightmare will finally end!

I couldn't agree more, Larry!

These 2 diabolical, dictator clowns have their own personal agenda that always gets first priority.

Like when Netanyahu traveled to Washington to deliver a copy in person of his letter nominating President Trump for the Nobel Peace Prize because he bombed Iran for him.

Making sure the press was there to cover it as their top story in the news cycle.

Never mind the deadline to nominate people for the Nobel Peace Prize had passed months earlier. This was all show and Netanyahu's way of keeping his strings attached to Puppident Trump.

Since when does a serious peace negotiation work when 1 side is not included???

A serious peace negotiation would have included Hamas not just an PR announcement by Trump/Netanyahu (that I believe was very intended to make Hamas look bad when they reject it).

Why would Hamas trust anything coming from Netanyahu and Trump? 1 of them is the world's biggest liar and the other one intensely hates Palestinians and is in the midst of a genocide.

Both are massive narcissists focused for most of their lives on what's best FOR THEM.

If it causes the war in Gaza to end then this is the best news but both of them, mainly Netanyahu has so much blood on his hands that there is no way to see him as anything as diabolical.

I am almost certain that Israel, saying they would not completely leave Gaza under this so called peace plan,  means Israel, at least under Netanyahu would stay and Netanyahu would do like he has been, making shist up for why his soldiers need to stay there killing children and woman.

Hamas KNOWS THIS. So why would they agree to a peace plan DICTATED TO THEM by 2 of the least trustworthy people on the planet with 0 negotiations????

Now watch how Trump and Netanyahu want us to see them as the peace-nicks striving for peace and spin this into the fault of Hamas............never mind the  millions of pounds of bombs, cold blooded murder/genocide of tens of thousands of innocent children and women from the peace-nicks.

Just another award winning performance by 2 of the most powerful, evil men on the planet trying to change the narrative to justify what they've been doing and bamboozle people into thinking that they are not really committing genocide, they really want peace and to save lives because they care about humanity.

And of course Trump has been driven recently by what Larry mentioned, including his great desire to get the Nobel Peace Prize.

Hey MM,

1. Do you think this is about Trump wanting to build that resort in a Gaza?

2. Isn’t Bibi motivated to keep the war going so he doesn’t have to worry about the what’s waiting for him in the courts once he leaves office? So, is he intentionally presenting terms he knows Hamas won’t accept?

Do you think this is about Trump wanting to build that resort in a Gaza?

I was thinking the same thing too, Larry.

Earlier this evening, I was going to start a thread about how the Trump family has made something like 5 billion dollars as they use the presidency to make money.

Biden made Millions with an M selling the Biden brand but the Trump family has made almost 1,000 times more. Billions with a B. However, the Trump family has a business that sells something for that money much of the time.

Hunter Biden illegally practiced as a foreign lobbyist. His license was to practice only domestically as a lobbyist-his job before moving to Ukraine to cash in on Dad's VP position and Ukraine's widespread corruption, that Joe and Hunter knew how to exploit for the Biden family selling access to Joe.

I'm bringing this up because this was part of why I thought Joe Biden was the worst president in history. I know you disagreed on that but you will agree that I now feel that Donald Trump is like, an order of magnitude worse than Biden and any other president in history.

I decided not to start yet another Donald Trump thread, especially since I'm very busy working outside on our asphalt driveway repair and reseeding part of our lawn and I spent too much time here already with Trump posts.

With that in mind, your speculation seems  solid.

Based on knowing Trump (who is always about what's in it for Donald Trump) and knowing his business and what his family has been doing this year.

Tony Blair calls Trump's proposal a "bold and intelligent plan"

Former U.K. Prime Minister Tony Blair, who Mr. Trump said would be on a peace board overseeing Gaza's governance, praised Mr. Trump's proposal.

"President Trump has put down a bold and intelligent plan which, if agreed, can end the war, bring immediate relief to Gaza, the chance of a brighter and better future for its people, whilst ensuring Israel's absolute and enduring security and the release of all hostages," he said.

"In particular, his willingness to chair the Board of Peace to oversee the new Gaza is a huge signal of support and confidence in the future of Gaza, of the possibility of Israelis and Palestinians finding a path to peace and of the potential for a broader regional and global alliance to counter the forces of extremism and promote peace and prosperity between nations," he added.

Let’s hope Trump and Netanyahu qare being honest for the first Time.

I think most of us, including Tony Blair would want to play  a positive role in something that might end the war in Ukraine.

What I think doesn’t matter and the chances for real peace in Gaza are a lot higher right now than they were 24 hours ago.

Overnight, I was able to think about the dynamics surrounding what just happened and am now convinced that this fits perfectly into another Donald Trump publicity stunt.

Like all the fanfare he created over the meeting with Putin in Alaska that had a near 0% chance of accomplishing anything except bringing attention to Donald Trump because he wanted the world to see him as the greatest peacemaker in history(that includes his FAKE ending of 7 wars).

He met with Putin and Putin lectured him on Russian history and why Russia was doing what it was doing and why they want everything and will give up nothing. What did Trump say to make a case for a peace deal? Nothing!

Then he met with the other side, which insisted on having everything and giving up nothing.

Then he said, well it's out of my hands but the world can see how great of a peace maker Donald Trump is!!!

Then, a couple of weeks later he does a shocking, 180 degree turn from everything he's been stating and insists that NOW, he believes Ukraine can win the war and get everything back, aligning him perfectly with the NATO/Europe that he has been bashing and also............the Norwegian Nobel Peace Prize board that determines the winner.

Now we have his new deal with Hamas for peace in Gaza.

He has failed on a couple of  attempts so far, a couple of them were ethnic cleansing/insulting jokes, often  sabotaged by Netanyahu's actions including this current one.

What do I mean by that?

We remember what happened earlier this month: If Netanyahu was serious about peace, he would not be breaking International Law, bombing a foreign country trying TO KILL THE VERY NEGOTIATING TEAM THAT HE CLAIMS HE'S TRYING TO NEGOTIATE PEACE WITH!!!

Hamas claims leadership survived Israeli attack in Doha, but confirms six deaths

The Palestinian armed group Hamas has said five of its members were killed in an Israeli air strike in Qatar's capital, but claimed that an attempt to assassinate its negotiating team "failed".

Hamas said the negotiating team was meeting to discuss the latest US proposal for a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip at a residential compound in Doha when it was badly damaged by a series of explosions.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said the strike was "fully justified" because it targeted senior Hamas leaders who organised the 7 October 2023 attack on Israel, which triggered the Gaza war.

Qatar condemned the Israeli attack, calling it "cowardly" and a "flagrant violation of international law".

+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

If Larry is trying to SINCERELY negotiate a peace deal with Mike, he negotiates with Mike. That's no brainer, peace deal 101!

If instead, Larry uses his powerful military to try to kill Mike's negotiating team while its on a mission to negotiate peace, then Larry is, instead trying to STOP a peace deal!!!  Netanyahu does not want peace with Hamas because he's trying to sabotage it by killing the ones from Hamas that are tying to make the deal.

So instead of negotiating directly with Hamas and working out the deal, like is always done, then announcing they made a deal or did not make a deal,  Donald Trump, like what he did in Alaska turns it into a big sensationalized press release yesterday.

He invites all the media ahead of time, then tells the world about the great Trump/Netanyahu peace plan that includes members of the UN/European side that he's brought into his great peace plan to make it more legit.

All the while, Netanyahu is trying to assassinate the exact people that they need to negotiate this peace settlement with. That part is not speculation. We know with certainty that Netanyahu tried to kill the ones from Hamas trying to do a peace deal earlier this month.

And we are to suddenly expect Hamas to TRUST ISRAEL on a peace deal being dictated to them in a sensationalized press release(designed to make it look like Israel is the one that wants peace)????

The same Israel, that they know will NEVER live up to whatever the deal states as long as Netanyahu is in charge.

A deal that is missing so much, including any solid reasons for why they should just give up?  Nothing about the West Bank where Israel is currently killing innocent Palestinians???

This was pure Donald Trump the charlatan, selling his  snake oil to make Donald Trump look good while not using honesty of the TRUE dynamics at play. Netanyahu being part of his team and Netanyahu's recent actions are what makes this deal not serious for obtaining real peace in Gaza.

I really, REALLY hope to be wrong!

Trump, would have to be lacking basic comprehensive skills if he doesn't see who the real Ben Netanyahu is here or MUCH MORE LIKELY,  he knows and is doing what Trump does best. Manufacturing his own world to make Donald Trump look great(like he's manufactured the FAKE fact of Donald Trump ending 7 wars this year and has repeated that hundreds of times).

Trump bringing in legit people from other countries that are truly sincere is nothing new for him as Donald Trump is the worlds greatest manipulator. As the most powerful man in the world, he can do things that nobody else can and other countries often must play by his rules or suffer consequences. Or in this case, play along with whatever his plan is because they have no other option and he knows it!!!

If Donald Trump really wanted the war and killing to end, he would have stopped the billions of dollars in weapons being shipped to Israel this year to kill Palestinians!!!

Trump could have done that on day 1 and every one of the other 200+ days of his 2nd term but he does the opposite. Hamas knows this. Why would they trust him???

I was thinking about how unlikely it will be for Hamas to trust anything ķcoming from Netanyahu or Trump.

How ironic that such a diabolical and untrustworthy group like Hamas, are the ones that can’t trust what are supposed to be the good guys.

Now let's see what happens!

1. Hamas gives up the hostages and what will Netanyahu do? He does not want peace or a 2 state solution and from the beginning, only does what he wants, then makes up reasons/lies to justify it.

2. The chance of Hamas giving up their arms and surrendering seem to be minuscule.

it’s an interesting take on Trump telling Israel to stop bombing Gaza because those are the  bombs that we sent them to  bomb Gaza. If we don‘t want them to bomb Gaza anymore, how about we immediately stop sending them  the bombs to do it!!

Why is Trump saying one thing……..while still sending bombs/weapons to Israel to do the complete opposite?
At least Biden slowed down bomb shipments for awhile to show  his  outrage over what Netanyahu is doing,

I don't believe Trump is being sincere here because of this fact THAT BUSTS HIM! He should have STOPPED the bombs and weapons FIRST and not, instead has plans to send  EVEN MORE weapons/bombs at the same time he is ordering Israel to not use the ones that he has been sending to kill Palestinians!

This comes after he actually bypassed Congress and declared it an emergency to massively increase the arms for Israel to kill Palestinians earlier this year.

His messaging on so many things is inconsistent, contradictory and often incoherent.

On March 1, Secretary of State Marco Rubio signed a declaration to use emergency authorities to expedite approximately $4 billion in arms to Israel. Secretary Rubio invoked these authorities in lieu of the traditional congressional notification process. As is procedure, the Department of State typically notifies Congress of a proposed foreign military sale, which Congress is empowered to review. In using emergency authorities, Rubio and the Trump administration bypassed this process, waiving the congressional review requirements under Section 36(b) of the Arms Export Control Act. This marked the second time that the Trump administration had done so, following a fast-tracked sale for Israel worth more than $7 billion for munitions and related equipment announced February 7.

U.S. medical workers who volunteered in Gaza urge Trump to end support for Israel's assault

“Everybody that goes over there is horrified by what they see,” said Dr. Feroze Sidhwa, a trauma surgeon in California, who has been volunteering in the enclave.

In a letter addressed to President Donald Trumpand shared exclusively with NBC News, the 152 American health workers described their experiences and called on the administration to end the U.S.’ “military, economic and diplomatic support” for Israel’s offensive.

“It’s very strange to know that your government is sending the weapons that you’re pulling out of kids’ faces,” Sidhwa said, noting the U.S.’ role as Israel’s closest ally and biggest arms supplier.

Israel says Hamas uses hospitals and medical centers for military activities, including as “command and control” hubs, opening them to attack. Hamas has denied doing so, while humanitarian groups and the U.N., have said Israel has not provided sufficient evidence to substantiate its claims.

The letter’s signers also said they had never seen “any type of Palestinian militant activity” in Gaza’s hospitals or other health care facilities during their combined more than 460 weeks working within the health system.

US blocks UN call for Gaza ceasefire for sixth time

All 14 other members of the Security Council voted in favour of the draft resolution - which described the humanitarian situation in Gaza as "catastrophic" and called on Israel to lift all aid restrictions.

It comes as the UN's humanitarian office warns that the last lifelines for civilians are collapsing in Gaza City as Israel expands its military offensive.

Mr. "I've been trying to stop the war with his words in 2025", has instead, with his actions(which tell the truth)....... massively increased the deaths with 12 billion in weapons this year(some going over Congress-claiming an emergency) for Israel TO KILL MORE PALESTINIANS and been THE SOLE COUNTRY TO BLOCK RESOLUTIONS BY THE UN TO CALL FOR A CEASEFIRE!!!.

Even now, his latest position is to INCREASE arms sales to Israel with positive reinforcement for Israel in the world/realm that matters most.

Words are cheap, especially those that come from this guy:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/False_or_misleading_statements_by_Donald_Trump

I'm glad that Hamas has agreed to finally release the remaining hostages and hopefully, Netanyahu(who just tried to assassinate the Hamas negotiating team because he doesn't want peace- will have no choice but to stop immediately)  but the impact of Trump in this matter has been for 1,000s MORE people to be killed in this war with the weapons that he sent based on emergency sales of 12,000,000,000 earlier this year to kill MORE Palestinians.

That is what this president is to be judged by. All those additional dead Palestinians at the hands of Donald Trump ramping up the support and killing tools for Netanyahu will never come back from the dead. Their families that lost them, lost them forever BECAUSE OF DONALD TRUMP's intentionally making it much worse since he became president.

A cease fire now or whatever agreement is made does not make Donald Trump any less responsible for the ADDITIONAL DEATHS THAT HE PERSONALLY CAUSED IN GAZA THIS YEAR!

Trump will be bragging about how he now stopped 8 wars (the other 7 are mostly manufactured realities by him) but regardless of how he frames whatever happens......

There are many more dead, wounded and starving Palestinians in 2025 because of Donald Trump's intentional (emergency abuse of his power) actions.

The only other people with credibility as bad as Trump's are Putin and Netanyahu so I don't trust anything that Netanyahu states until the IDF PULLS OUT OF GAZA!!!!

Unless Hamas surrenders(unlikely) that's unlikely but it sure would be great.

Analysis: Trump achieved a breakthrough Gaza ceasefire, but a tough road lies ahead

https://www.pbs.org/newshour/world/analysis-trump-achieved-a-breakthrough-gaza-ceasefire-but-a-tough-road-lies-ahead

How significant is this first phase peace agreement between Israel and Hamas?

It is significant. All the remaining Israeli hostages are slated to come home. The twenty that are believed to be alive could be returned over the coming weekend and the remaining twenty-eight deceased hostages early next week. Israel is, in turn, obligated to release nearly 2,000 Palestinians held in Israeli jails. Israel will also release about 400 bodies of Hamas and other militants it has recovered on the battlefield. These exchanges require Israel to withdraw to agreed-upon lines within Gaza.

Whether this leads to an end to the war remains an open question. Certainly, Israelis and Palestinians hope that is the case, and U.S. President Donald Trump has made clear that he sees the hostage deal as the end. The challenge is now the implementation of the president’s 20-point plan, which, among a range of measures, requires Hamas to disarm, the establishment of an international security force, and new governance structures in Gaza that do not include Hamas. It also envisions a Palestinian state. These are tough conditions for Hamas and Israel.

OK, Trump is wrong again about another war.

Its great that he helped bring the  remaining hostages home and he deserves full credit for that.

However, Wolf Blitzer from CNN just interviewed a top IDF official that made things crystal clear on the war.

He said that he hated to contradict President Trump but the war is not even close to being over.

The IDF plans to resume the attacks on HAMAS after the hostages are released if they don’t also, surrender immediately………and there’s no indication that Hamas will,do that.

So the Hamas  war is NOT over!
