One of the difficulties in today's environment is we can't even agree on the facts.

Politifact.com is a really entertaining site to read.  You read a couple of pages and you learn pretty quickly that they are calling out conservatives and liberals for playing fancy with the truth.  They rate statements by politicians and news media in a continuum as follows:

True `- Mostly True - Half True - Mostly False - False - PANTS ON FIRE

They also explain why they marked something as "mostly true" but not "True".  Like the statement that "Because of Trump food stamps have declined by 2 million".  That statement is "mostly true".  They note that the decline began before Trump took office.  Had the quote said "Under Trump...." instead of "Because of Trump..." it would have been marked "True".

They are also witty with the manner that they strike something down as "False" or "Pants on Fire" (my personal favorite)

Check it out.

"Overall, this update reveals a slight leftward shift in Politifact’s fact checking selection, but not enough to move them from the least biased category. (7/10/2016) Updated (D. Van Zandt 8/12/2018)"

Above, the basic search result for "Politifact" from Media Bias/Fact Check, a useful site in determining the bias of various media sources. See a link to the homepage below.

I think being in the "least biased" category is a pretty good endorsement.
